Summary: a rollercoaster ride with highs and lows
Review: let's be objective. a great film in many respects, superb action sequences with glaring unforgivable errors. why on earth do the germans speak english with such an accent, it would have made a lot more sense to have had subtitles. Secondly, where on earth does a state of the art helicopter appear in WW2?!?. We need to redefine the patent for the helicopter, in fact i almost died laughing!. The most stupid thing was that they were chatting with each other and blowing off germans at random without needing to reload, i mean give me a break. If they were ninepins, WW2 would have been over just like that! The creators should have been more realistic. I also did'nt agree with the part where these two guys are on top of the cable car and make their way so smoothly into the castle without a single german lookout spotting them. But these deficencies apart, it's still a great film in many ways.

Summary: My all time favorite WW II movie
Review: The beauty of this film is that since it does not contain a shred of actual history, you waste little time comparing it to reality.Instead just hang on for one of the best acted and directed war films of its day.Burton is at the top of his form and this is the only film I've ever seen that Eastwood takes a back seat. When is this to be re-released?

Summary: A magnificent film
Review: An completely unbelivable but tremendously entertaining movie. One of the top two or three movies about WW2 ever made. See it at least two dozen times.

Summary: Don't make them like this any more
Review: There is a feeling of high adventure in this movie which is seldom felt when viewing recent action/adventure releases. Eastwood and Burton balance each other perfectly and the supporting cast do a fine job too. The action scenes are superb and the plot is engrossing. All of this has been listed in one way or another in other reviews. What no-one seems to have paid too much attention to is the awesome film score. Last year I went skiing in Europe with a few friends. As we ascended the alps on the gondola someone started humming the theme music to 'Where Eagles Dare'. Almost to a man everyone joined in. In retrospect now it seems ridiculous now but in that moment we were all Clint or Burton fearlessly ascending to the eagles lair. What a score!

Summary: HELICOPTER???????????
Review: A great action-adventure film set in WW2 ranks as one of my favourites. Great performanes by Eastwood and Burton, and non-stop action. The Austrian setting is good because it looks great, but the story is your typical commandos-behind ememy lines-blow up the/capture/save etc. kind of film. But this one is better, and I love it. Some of the stunts are fake and unbelievable (the fight on top of the cable car for instance), but who cares? One thing that bugged me was the usage of a Helicopter. Sure, the Germans experimented with helicopters, but it looks stupid and it wasn't necessary. The plot can be difficult to understand, and you might have to watch it a second time to get it (so...). Despite it's faults, this is a great movie. Watch it on a cold winters day.

Summary: Best Winter Action Movie Ever!!!!!
Review: Watch this in the dead of winter with a fire in the fireplace and big mug of frosty beer. Every year my son and I take our buddies up to Stowe, VT for our annual "Where Eagles Dare Weekend." We go skiing, play Risk, and of course, watch this great movie. The weekend culminates with our commemorative reenactment of the pick-ax fight atop the gondola. This always goes over big with the guys on the ski-patrol. We hope someday to make it a national event with a demo assault of Mt Mansfield by the Tenth Mountain Division. What has all this got to do with the movie? It's just inspiring! A true guy flick. Forget about the plot, just set your trip-wires and go for it.

Summary: BEST ALISTAIR MCLEAN NOVEL MADE INTO A MOVIE
Review: I SAW THIS MOVIE WHEN I WAS a child of 10yrs and have been seeing it ever since, 32 times ever since its that good!

Summary: A kick ass WWII adventure
Review: If you saw Indiana Jones, imagine that movie with a team instead of an individual and plot complexity in addition to non stop action. I don't know who was more thrilled and confused during this movie, Clint or me. It doesn't matter, this is one kickass action adventure, possibly one of the best of all time. If there is one better, let me know!

Summary: High adventure, if that's your bag.
Review: This film receives top marks; it combines a complex plot and thrilling action in an exotic locale (the mountains of Bavaria). Your mind and pulse race as you parachute behind enemy lines with Eastwood and Burton to steal into the "Schloss Adler" with the intent of rescuing an American general. One of the best adventure films ever. I own it and love it. Check it out, especially on a cold winter's day.
