Summary: Wil remind the adult heart of what faith truly is.
Review: This is a wonderful story of what faith truly means on many different levels for both adults and children set in a lush historical setting. This is one of the few modern movies that brings a flutter to my heart--from intense joy.

Summary: Good entertainment
Review: This movie does not follow in the traditional route of male and/or female heroine and is not at all an update of this theme. But rather, "Fairy Tale: A True Story" is an actual story about fairy tales and the patron spirits that affect the lives of the people around them. I see this as something akin to Cinderella's Fairy Godmother or even Ariel's evil wish-granter. What this movie tries to do is instill in its audience the value in belief - believing in the impossible, the unseen, and even the downright conspicuous.

"Fairy Tale--A True Story'" fudges so much of it that it should not really claim to be true at all. Not that it really matters. The movie works as a fantasy, and as a story of little girls who fascinate two of the most famous men of the age--Conan Doyle and the magician Harry Houdini, an outspoken de-bunker of all forms of spiritualism.

In the movie, too, the fairies appear to those who believe in them. Are they real? So it seems. The film centers on12-year-old Elsie Wright and 8-year-old Frances Griffiths, who has come to live with her cousin; her father is ``missing'' in the war in France, and she thinks she knows what that means. Elsie has also had a loss; her brother died not long ago. So both children are primed for belief in the other world, and one day they take a camera into the garden and return with film that, when developed, shows fairies.

The prime notion in this film is that the belief in fairy tales offer some sort of consolation to the wounded characters in this time of loss and social unrest. Furthermore, not many children will leave the theater being quite sure who Houdini and Conan Doyle are. This is precisely what makes this was an awkward vehicle for the fairy tale tradition. On the other hand, it is great entertainment for an older crowd: charming, engaging, and meaningful. The sub-texts are woven together beautifully.

Summary: Charming little movie
Review: This movie is a gentle story, one that the whole family can watch. Doesn't have much in the way of action, vulgarity or even scimpily dressed faires. The fairies are not a huge part of this story anyway. The story is about two young cousins who concoct a tale about some fairy sightings. This "true" story happened during WWI in England. The story also shows what happens to a small country town when they receive some unwanted publicity after the girls' photos are anonymously published in a leading magazine. It is an interesting tale, charming and cute. People who like trashy, faster movies won't like this one.

Summary: booorriiinngg!!
Review: This movie was sooooo boring, it didn't have anything. Where's the comedy? Where's the action? Where's the romance? This is what I think the worst movie I ever saw in theatres. And the fiaries. You only saw one fairy,in the beginning and then a lot at the end, but that's all. How cheesy is that? To me, this movie was very unmemorable, because I hardly remember much, which might be good. It just seemed like nothing. This movie hardly had any plot. They're just trying to prove fairies exist. I remember me, my brother, Mat and my Dad being quite bored by it. I should have saw some other movie at the time like "A Simple Wish". In other words, skip it.

Summary: There is no area of this film which is not totally excellant
Review: This should have been marketed as an adult film entitled 'A night for magic' rather than a cartoon in a 'pink' jacket. My only regret is not having it in DVD.

Summary: Cute...
Review: This was a nice movie. It is BASED on a true story but it doesn't really follow what truly happened, mind you. In real life two girls photographed each other posing behind paper cutouts of fairies. They fooled the world for decades. In the movie, however, the fairies are real. There's something that's just so magical about this movie, I can't describe it. There isn't much storyline, it's just two cousins trying to prove that fairies exist. The computer animation is really good. If you like movies about young children from World War II such as The Secret Garden and A Little Princess, this is for you!!
