Summary: It was a very good movie.
Review: This movie is awesome. The story is great and are acted well. Then of course there are the fabulous bonuses. The music is incredible. One of the best collection of swing music around. And the dancing scenes are so much fun to watch. Definitly a keeper of a movie.

Summary: Finds and fills every emotion in my body!!
Review: The whole story is based around friends--freinds that like to dance. Sounds like me and my friends. Friday night dancing!! When we rented the movie, (it's not owned yet) the movie store called us everyday it was late. Five days!!! Everyone in my family watched it twice!! I love the dancing scenes. Reminds of some of the stuff I can do!!! The movie all around shows the ups and downs of peer pressure and war. It also shows the hatred of Hitler. I love the whistle the whole group of Swing Kids does. GREAT MOVIE!!!

Summary: Magnificent!
Review: Swing Kids really shows what the teenagers in Germany at that time were going through. At first I just watched it because it had Swing music and Christian Bale, but then the whole movie just pulled me in. I cried, I laughed, I danced! What better thing is there to say about a movie?

Summary: If you can't keep your feet from swingin', this is for you.
Review: I love to swing and the dancing in this is amazing. The story line itself made me cry because of the truth in it related to World War II. I could watch this over and over and never get tired of it. The soundtrack is a must have, too. I simply love this movie(not to mention Chrstian Bale). END

The move Swing Kids was about 7 people who

disliked the Nazi power and listened to swing music, which the

Nazis hated. Through the movie a few of the boys that did not

believe in the Nazis powers started to change. As the group got

smaller there was only one person left (Peter) though he had been

forced to join the H.J. (Hitler Jugend) he still believed in swing.

What I liked about the movie was the kinds of

music that these people enjoyed and how they could easily

memorize the name of the musician as it was being played. I also

liked the way they were able to dance to that kind of music and

how people even though it may have looked strange to us now it

was entertainment to them.

What I disliked about the movie was that the

Nazi's had too much power. They could just easily walk into

someone's house and take the family away. I also disliked how

they could make other people like only what they like and that they

weren't allowed to enjoy what they liked.

The connections between The Diary of Anne

Frank and Swing Kids is that the Franks had to hide from the Nazis

So they had to live in fear and anxiety in a little attic so as not to be

Found out and sent to a Concentration Camp. In Swing Kids even

though they were German and had no part in the Jewish religion

they still had to fear being sent to the H.J. (Hitler Jugend) were

they would be trained to fight under the Nazis power which they

intended you to do.

Summary: FOR SWING DANCERS ONLY
Review: All modern Lindy Hoppers and jitterbugs owe a lot to "Swing Kids." The fact it was even made forshadowed the interest of modern youth in the culture of great music, style, class, and dancing. But the movie is, alas, TERRIBLE. Horrible. period. Yes, the fashion is great, yes, there is a cast of some of the best American and British actors on film. Yes, it has an amazing soundtrack. But the second half of the film goes so incredibly down hill it makes the entire film pointlesss by the end. The lead, Peter, decides his answer to the nazis is not to try to save Jews or join the French Underground, but instead, to go and get caught and sent to a work camp. That'll show them. So the entire hour and a half you've spent caring tfor the character is flushed down the drain. Other than that, there are a dozen errors and almost comical blunders. Many of the lines are stilted, and a comical part of Kenneth's dinner scenes is how often he lifts a wine glass to punctuate his lines. It happens many times.
Props, however, to the writer, who developed Bale's character based on the general ideology of the Pre-War victom German people, which is very well acted, and which, after you see the film five or six times, you notice how well the character developes due to his isolation, better than most we see in films. You probably do not want to watch the movie five or six times.
However, this film DID inspire me to take on what has been one of the greatest gifts of my life; 1940's Lindy Hop swing dancing, and so, even if I tell you it's a terrible movie, that does by no means claim that it can not give you something very powerful. I've owned two copies myself.

SIX DEGREES: Bale and Kenneth Bragnagh are in this film, just like "Henry V", seven years prior. Kennith and Robert Sean Leaonard the same year as SWING KIDS produced "Much Ado About Nothing" Who introduced who to whom?

Summary: Cool Movie

Swing Kids is a great movie to watch if you can handle the violence, truth, and betrayal. Although there is violence in this movie it fits, because it shows you how Jewish people, and Germans who didn't support Hitler were treated. The truth in Swing Kids is unbelievable. For people to actually beat other people for being who they are, I couldn't even imagine. Betrayal also plays a part in this movie. Peter, Thomas, and Arvid were all friends who loved to go swing dancing, and didn't agree with the Nazi way. All of that changed when Peter had to join the Hitler Jugend. Which is a place where you were trained to be a German soldier. Thomas then joined to be with Peter, who both still believed in swing. All that changed when Thomas started believing in the Nazi way of life. Betrayal comes in when Thomas and the rest of the German soldiers bust in a swing club and start beating everyone, including Peter.
What I liked best about this movie is the friendship that takes place at the beginning. At first Thomas, Peter, and Arvid all get along even though they each have different aspects on life. Thomas used to except Arvid for who he was and not because he was crippled. Peter always was the one who tried to look at things through his own point of view. Arvid was the one who loved music; he also loved to play the guitar. These special things are what lured me into the movie.
Dislikes in this movie also play a part in my view. Basically I strongly dislike how the Nazi treated the other people. My strongest dislike in this movie was the fact that Thomas' and Peter's friendship changed at the end. When Thomas started beating Peter up I just cried my eyes out. Those two things were my dislikes.
Swing Kids and the Diary of Anne Frank shares a couple of similarities. The biggest similarity is the treatment of Jews. Both went into detail about how mean the Nazi were. Differences between them are, one is taken from a Jewish person's point of view, The Diary of Anne Frank, the other from a German's point of view, Swing Kids. Another difference would be Anne happened to be a girl telling her story, and Peter was a boy who told his. The message in both of these was basically the same, the treatment by the Nazi.

Summary: "Swing Kids" is A fight for freedom
Review: "Swing Kids" was truly a fabulous movie. Its a movie about the Nazi's in the time of Hitlers reign. The characters in this movie are astounding, and the actors who portray them put on a brilliant performance. Robert Sean Leonard as Peter, a young man who has made close friends with a group of boys who all have one thing in common that brought them together...swing music, and swing dancing. To which the german nazi's did not approve of. Peter ends up having to become an H.J. Which are basically nazi's in training...It is a fight to maintain balance in a society with no balance. As the video says on the cover, "They fought for the freedom that bound them together" Truly a great movie...I rave to much, and I really hope they re-release it cause I would LOVE to purchase this video! But I won't if it costs to much...that I must say! BUT RENT IT if you cannot purchase it! Another fabulous actor in it is Christian Bale who has done a very fine job in his career and has appeared in such movies as "Newsies" "A Midsummer Nights Dream" and coming Soon "All The Little Animals" and many more. He portrays Peters Best friend Thomas in this movie, and a lot of things between Peter and Thomas change, however, their friendship remains just in a different way as the movie goes. Watch it...you'll love it.
