Summary: Saving Private Ryan
Review: Man, this is the ultimate reason why I bought a DVD. The moment I saw this released on DVD, I started shopping for the best practical DVD player, and immediately ordered this DVD. You won't regret this for all those who love watching war movies !

Summary: Best Movie of the 90s
Review: Without question the best movie of the 90s, possibly best of the 20th century. I admit (maybe too freely) that this made me cry. Such a powerful movie. You must see this again.

Summary: REAL!
Review: I only wish that the captain's last words to Ryan were "Godspeed", instead of "Earn this." They had all earned the right to go home, so what else could this poor guy do? Nothing. He could never do anything that would justify to himself that he had earned the right to come home alive, expecially when other men died just to get him their. So I just don't agree with his last request to Ryan. It could have also been "Get home alive.", and that would have been hard enough. Other than that, it was a 5 star movie and I've watched it twice and will probably continue watching it anytime I get the chance. You can never get enough of how real it was for all those men to die for our freedom, because freedom isn't free.

Summary: Best WWII movie ever
Review: All these people that criticize this movie and nitpick at it should not be in the critic business. This movie brings out all the emotions, fear, sadness, happiness, anger, frustration, relief, rejoice. Only movies that can touch it are When Trumpets Fade, Memphis Belle, and MAYBE Thin Red Line. A must-see for EVERYONE.

Review: I've seen alot of dvd's, but nothing can compare to the sound and picture quality of this DTS edition of saving private ryan. If your a movie buff and you realy want to experiance DVD to the fullest, then pick this one up. However, you must be equiped for this format or you wont get the full potential of the movie. True theather like sound comes with a price, but once you have everything you need, going out for a flic will not be necessary.

Summary: SPR left this patriot a cold, numb pacifist
Review: I found myself chuckling as I read a review calling this the war film of the MTV generation. I say to him: Hahahahaha. This film is so far from the happy, pretty faces of MTV generation films that it is comedic the comparison was ever made. This film leaves the viewer drained, and frankly, almost sick. This is the opposite of what an MTV generation film is. This film is awesome and was a blockbuster, but it isnt meant to entertain and it sure as hell doesnt make a viewer feel better for watching it. If it did, then that viewer is a god damn sadist.

To those who said this film was typical war propaganda, what John Wayne film did you mistake this one for? This film is so unflattering to war, it made me, an ardent patriot, cold and numb towards the very thought of war, at least for a little while afterwards. The Omaha landing in no way whatsoever glorifies war. It may glorify it for a freaking sadist, but when I see some grunt bend over to pick up his severed limbs, I sure as hell am missing the whole war propaganda aspect Spielberg is aiming for. And speaking of severed limbs, the "gore" was absolutely necessary to this film. To leave out the fact that bullets cause pain and bloody wounds and severed appendages, would make this film exactly what some of you accuse it of trying to be, a film that paints war as "cool."

This film was excellent in depicting the hell of war. In my experiences with War vets, they have said this film was so accurate in its portayal of battle, that it left them crying and dredging up long forgotten memories of fallen comrades. That certainly attests to this film's greatness more than a bunch of disgruntled amateur kiddy critics on the Amazon.com website whose only view of war comes from a text book and the damn Gulf conflict. War is hell and this film portrayed that perfectly. And I dont even believe in Santa Claus either, although I leave myself a quarter under my pillow when I lose a tooth, just for old time sake.

Summary: WW2 truth
Review: I'm a twelve year old girl, and I just loved this movie. I've always been facinated by WW2 and this movie tells and shows the truth. It's very realistic, and graphic. Children under ten should definetly not see it(because of the graphics). If you faint or get quesey at the sight of blood I advise you not to watch it.
