Summary: Get ready to laugh!
Review: Forget "Airplane", forget "Naked Gun", and definitely forget "Hot Shots". You want something funny? This is one of the funniest, most underrated movies I've ever seen. I never really thought of Val Kilmer as a funny guy. At least, not until I saw this. The story doesn't really make a lot of sense, but it's basically about a rock star who gets caught up in some kind of international conspiracy, and craziness ensues. The story's not that important, it's the goofy little left-wing gags that will win you over. Soldiers play tic tac toe with by shooting out window panes, the general's rundown of the plan of action in which a perfect scale model just happens to be nearby, and everytime Kilmer gets intimate with his lady friend, a fireplace suddenly appears out of nowhere, even in mid-air as they jump from an airplane. If any of that made you smile rather than roll your eyes, you need to rent this. Recommended highly to fans of "Airplane" and "Naked Gun". It's pretty stupid, but in a good way.

Review: I am shocked to see so many regarding this movie so high. I thought for the general public, it was too slapstick and crude. To me, it is one of, if not the funniest comedies i've ever seen. This is one of the only movies where I laugh out loud when i'm alone.
This movie pulls no punches. It is absolutely silly and the characters are'nt afraid to say it. Who can forget the hero's: Escargot, Souffle, Detante, Avant Guard, Croissant, De ja Vu, Latrine, Chevalier, and Chocolate Mousse to name a few? A man who get's killed for dog biscuits? A manager who get's impaled upon a large mechanical device? A spy who survives in a compacted car? An unbreakable window at the Potato Farm?
Yes folks, it all happens and more. If you enjoyed the Zucker brothers films, then you'll enjoy Top Secret. One of the pioneer movies that changed the face of comedy.

Summary: Almost perfect...
Review: Definitely a great DVD to own... I've been waiting forever to have this hilarious movie in my DVD collection.The downside is the commentary. For one thing, it's extremely spotty. (i.e. three-minute gaps between comments.) For another, starting about halfway through the film, the directors begin to badmouth it relentlessly. I mean, I bought your freakin' DVD! Couldn't you at least say some nice things? Among their comments are: "Do we have to watch the rest of this?" and "I think you could make a really solid 25 minute movie out of this material." It's awful, frustrating commentary. That said, I've loved the movie for a long time. Audio is great, transfer is nice.

Summary: This is NOT Mel Tormé!
Review: For those who agree that this is one of the funniest movies of its genre, this DVD is a must-have for your collection. It's in Dolby Digital so you can enjoy the movie in 5.1 channel sound, plus the Alternate Scenes (which you might've already seen in the television presentations) are included, so you have it all. That is where the quality ends though, everything else on the DVD is weak at best. The Audio Commentary is a total waste of time, they barely talk about the movie. It was disappointing to watch, especially when some of the funniest jokes are going on on screen. After 5 minutes you will agree and hit the "Audio" button on your DVD remote.

Summary: They Had It Coming
Review: The creative team behind "The Naked Gun" and "Airplane!" spoof war and Elvis films in the surprising comedy "Top Secret!". An American rock idol(Val Kilmer) goes on a goodwill tour in East Germany and teams up with a freedom fighter(Lucy Gutteridge) to rescue her father from the dreaded East German High Command. The Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker team delivers the same non-stop laughs as their previous hit "Airplane!". This very silly spoof contains hilarious comic scenes and great visual gags. The cast is inspiring with Omar Sharif and Peter Cushing in outstanding roles. Like so many Paramount DVDs, "Top Secret!" doesn't surpass average. The picture quality is disappointing but the sound is satisfactory. The menus are simple and unimpressive. The DVD contains few special features but are quite good. It includes alternate scenes, commentaries and a trailer. Overall, this DVD earns a "B-".

Summary: Best movie ever
Review: Top Secret was made back in 1984 when satire and parody hadn't been run into the ground. Still, this movie is as fresh and funny as any of today's flicks in the genre (some jokes are a bit dated). I can't wait for the deleted scenes, trailers and commentary on the DVD. This movie is just as good as Airplane and the Naked Gun, but bombed at the theaters.

Review: This film is Val Kilmer's best work by far. Not only does he show off his talent as a vocalist, but this is his most believable role in any movie I have ever seen him in. Fans will enjoy possibly the greatest backwards scene ever made and the non-stop comedy. Definitely on my top five movies list.

Summary: It's about time!
Review: I've been patiently waiting for this DVD release for a couple of years now. Airplane I&II and the Naked Gun series are great, but this one is the best. The Omar Sharif "compact car" scene is a classic and it still puts me on the floor after all of these years. If you like the Zucker Bros. movies, you'll love "Top Secret".

Review: My all time favourite comedy set in the german war era about good guys against bad, but with some very unusual twists and turns and hilarious outtakes. What on earth is a fireplace doing parachuting, and the old western underwater bar complete with bartenders, locals and chandelier? Most recommended to anyone with a almost-sick sense of humour!
