Summary: What? No widescreen? Sacrilege!
Review: I was very disappointed to find my all-time favorite film, GWTW, treated so rudely with the release of this DVD. A film of this caliber deserves better. Though the transfer could have been better, I found it acceptable. The soundtrack was less enjoyable, however. While I realize there is only so much one can do to enhance a fifty-year-old recording, I was surprised at how shrill and tinny-sounding it was. The major disappointments for me were the lack of bonus materials (very cheesy, Warner Bros.), and the non-widescreen format (unforgivable). I certainly hope that Warner will offer upgrade pricing to owners of this version when the inevitable "Special Edition" is released (uh-huh, right)! Happily though, as with all classics, this film is still pure magic!

Summary: This IS THE best movie ever made
Review: The first time I ever saw this movie I was like this is going to be long and boring. But it was the best thing ever. Titanic has been compared, but will never measure up to GWTW standards. Viven Leigh did wonderful justice to Scarlett. Even though the movie is not exactly like the book it is none the less spectacular

Summary: How could this be known as a classic?
Review: I tell my family that I don't like this film and they think I am crazy- but I am not. This movie has to be the worst of all!!! For one thing- it is too long! I have better things to do with 5 hours of my time. Plus- it is not an epic romance! A good romance movie- it can not claim. The movie is basically about two alcoholic, money filled, greedy, rascist brats falling in love during a war which they totally portrayed wrong. I know- I wasn't a live then. But I do know that that couldn't have been how slavery was. They have a scene where they have the work bell, saying they could stop working, and they all smile and tlaking friendly and act almost happy about there surrondings! I find that hard to believe- that they were happy about being slaves. Another thing- I hate all the characters. Scarlet is a brat, Gables character is a brat, Ashley is boring, Melanie is too quiet and boring- and she never expresses her self. She should go up and slap Scarlet. My recommendation- never see this movie!!!!!! I would rather eat rocks!

Summary: Also... It's not a widescreen version
Review: Although I enjoy owning GWTW on DVD, I am disappointed it is not a widescreen version as most DVDs seem to be. I suppose for the price paid ($14 from Amazon) it is a reasonable value, but it WAS a big letdown when I realized I had a pan and scan version. This fact is not apparent from the description of the product.

Summary: The best movie ever!
Review: Gone With the Wind is the classiest of the classics! Anyone who likes history, adventure, romance, drama, comedy, LIFE - all wrapped up in one film - this is what they should see.

Summary: Uh. Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy!
Review: This movie is a real waste of film. It goes on and bleck bleck bleck. My mom cries in it, but the only scene that touches me in the slightest is the one where all the soldiers are lined up on the ground for as far as you can see. I really would not recommend anyone to see this, purely a waste of time.

Summary: Scarlett is my hero
Review: This is the best civil war movie that was made if you consider the time that it was made. The dreary war movies of today may be more realistic but the colorful gowns and perfect hair fit the genre. It wasn't a film just about the horrors of war but the horrors of the survivors.

Summary: Gone With the Wind...and Swept AWAY!
Review: I was astounded when I first saw GOne With the Wind; it was the best, and remains the best, film I've ever had the opportunity to see. Vivien Leigh; my idol, stars in her first American film, with veteran actor, siren, Clark Gable. Olivia deHavilland gives miraculous life to Melanie and Leslie Howard, who seems a bit of a fruit in this film, is remarkable as strong and weary Ashley. This is THE FILM OF THE YEAR! :-)
