Rating: Summary: It was a terrific movie. Review: This movies was so great the way it showed the womens part in that time and the way Scarlet kept going. She never seemed let anything bring her down. She even gave Rhett a run for his money when he came around. She never really knew what love meant until the end it seemed.
Rating: Summary: The greatest! Review: This is the greatest motion picture of all time. Enough said
Rating: Summary: Emotionally moving portrayal of friendship and love Review: Rating this movie is not an easy task. The costumes, sets, photography, plot, actresses and actors are outstanding. The central message of the movie is Scarlett's realization of her need for love. Olivia de Havilland's performance of Melanie is heart wrenching. Here is a character who is kind, gracious, extends friendship to the rejected (Belle) and the suspected (Scarlett). Her lifelong devotion to honor, family and friendship moves me every time. I realize many of the viewers find this a mythological reviewing of the Old South. However, the movie is balanced in showing the division in the South over the terrible issue of slavery and economic independence from the tariff. Very few movies would extend such a balanced view of the South if made today. The writer from Norway would perhaps prefer only those movies which portray our parents and grandparents as racists and rednecks. Southerners like tradition generally. This movie satisfies some of those longing to preserve the good and watch the loss of the bad (slavery). To see our old homes and civility among persons where rudeness was unthinkable is worthwhile today. Those messages from the movie may not be there for others but they have been there for me since I was a child. I rediscover this movie in all its beauty every few years. I think the characters of Ashley and Rhett show the range of masculine personality. I guess I just think Clark Gable was unbelievably handsome, reckless, scandalous as well as at heart desiring to love and be loved. I give the movie five stars because nothing produced today can equal the film's scenes, the costumes or such an extensive cast of actors and actresses. It will be one of the greatest movies for all times. It's not a social commentary on the Old South. It's about friendships and conflict. It's about survival after war and learning to live and love again when only ruins are left in the ashes. It will move people for generations to come.
Rating: Summary: Where do they find these people? Review: I was looking over some of the reviews on the this page and was astounded. Gone With The Wind, is not a WWII movie, and to the angry mother from Yugoslavia, I just have one question: "Are you sure we're talking about the same movie?" This movie shows one of America's most horrible hours and is a classic in all respects.
Rating: Summary: Mixed bag Review: This was a landmark in moviemaking because of its broad scope and epic spectacles. However, it happens to be based on a rambling, almost incoherent novel, and it reflects that fact. Nor was it helped by the fact that more than one director worked on it - you can see its tone shift sometimes, though not as much as its lengthy, convoluted plot does. Still, it's good Hollywood fun.
Rating: Summary: who says scarletts spoiled? Review: well any one who says scarlett is spoiled is totally wrong ,she got what she wanted 1/2 the time and was so strong her life presence would knock you down ,she could take anything that came to her and i can see what she saw in ashley wilkes, cause he was different from the others she has been around ,i liked him,but any ways if you live in the south you would understand it was soo acurate, and i loved it .....if you see one movie please let it be this its so compelling and dramatic at the sunsets of tara id pay a million to see it a true story of the old south it is
Rating: Summary: Simply A Classic Review: Gone With the Wind is a true and simple classic. 5 stars aren't enough for such a magneficent movie with wonderful and memorable characters and truly shows a time gone with the wind. Except for the book, this movie is a true classic and will always be remembered by those who truly love classic films undistributed by special effects and vulgar language. Simply and truly magneficent!!!!
Rating: Summary: Timeless in terms of human drama and war Review: The best and the worst in all of us is offered up in this movie; Scarlet's self-centeredness, and yet her sheer, unwavering determination, Ashley's vascilation, and Rhett's heroicism all played to perfection. Further the scope and futility of this awful war (from the southern perspective) are captured with clarity. Many who comment on this movie have missed the point completely.
Rating: Summary: Red Buttler Review: Scarlett crossing flame
Rating: Summary: Horrible Movie That should no be rated G. Review: Siskel And Ebert were dead wrong. If I were to rate it from 1 to 100 Id rate it 0.Not appropriate from children under the age of 76.Only good if u r 90 or older.Corny and yet it was a hit in the 70's.Where do they think of this junk. This movie is a horrible influence on children today. They should of never put it back in theatres and sell it where kids can get their hands on it.
