Review: I went and saw this movie several times. I first saw it at an artsy theatre here in the city before it recieved all the media attention. But it deserved every bit of praise that it has recieved. I am not sure how someone could not like this film. It is just what it says it is beautiful. I was the best film of 1998 and should have won the best picture of the year without a doubt. It was a refreshing escape from Hollywood trash. Benigni was fresh and exciting and brillant in all the roles he had in this movie(director,actor and producer). It is great, just great. A must see. It will change you.

Summary: BENIGINI MAKES CINEMATIC LIFE BEAUTIFUL AS WELL
Review: Life is Beautiful is simply beautiful. How can one express in words what power a movie like this has on the soul? Especially considering the tears that come unbidden just by reading the reviews others have written? Life is Beautiful's story: the lengths to which a man's love for his child can not only survive man's worst inhumanity but how that same sense of live and love can sheild that child from losing his own innocence. Be assured, this is not a film for historians. This is a fairy tale. It is introduced by the grown son, leading the audience to believe that he is telling the story of his parents & the horror with the memories he has of them: less savage, scary and menacing than that seen in Schindler's List -- BECAUSE his father's love, humanity and sense of life sheilded his son from those horrors. As for the soundtrack, I cannot listen to it without tears streaming down my face...never before has a movie touched me so deeply and held on for so long. To see this movie and to miss the beauty inherent is to be truly without heart.

Summary: An utter masterpiece
Review: "Life is Beautiful" is a movie like no other. It is a movie with a positive message like no other. It is very funny, in a Buster Keaton sort of way, it is well made, and after five minutes, you'll think you've been speaking Italian for years. This movie had me holding my gut in laughter, with jokes and physical humor the likes of which I had never seen. Yet this movie will drag the tears from one's eyes, no matter how composed a person usually is. It's a great family movie.

Summary: It's a Story of Survival
Review: I recently saw this movie, and I found it simply mindboggling. Don't get confused, it isn't Schindler's List, but then, it isn't suppose to be. This movie was never meant to be about the trials and tribulations of a Jewish man in a Nazi concentration camp. It is about the trials and tribulations that a Italian-Jew had to go through the pre-WWII years. It is a story about how a father's love for his wife and son defeats all. It is a story about the ultimate sacrifice, a man's life. In fact, I found it more moving then Schindler's List. Definate addition to my DVD collection.

Review: Some movies after you see them you do not even remember the title. Some others are entertainment and is good to see them once. but in this case I have to admit that you can play the movie for the rest of your life in your mind.I still remember the Oscars and from seen Bennini so full of joy I just wanted to run and see his movie at that very moment... and one more thing. Yes Life Is Beautiful. just go and visit countries like Cuba and other totalitarian regimes and you can see for yourself a real life drama and the things that ordinary people need to do to survive and extraordinary situation and still people have not lost one thing, HOPE ... One of the best films ever made.

Review: Life is beautiful is a masterpeice. It is intelligant, humorous and deeply moving. Benigni is an absolute genius. Don't be turned off by the subtitles. I was reluctant to see it; but was happy to actually see a movie worthy of six dollars and two hours of my time. Unlike many movies that are released this is quality entertainment without the trash. See this movie. It will be worth your time.

Summary: An amazing, touching, tear-jerking film
Review: I loved La Vita E Bella. I started crying in the middle 'til 3 hours afterwards. It was touching, and although it was not true to life, not all movies on the Holocaust have to mimic Schindler's List. It was beautifully written and funny at the same time, while also maskingly showing the horror of the Holocaust. We all know what happened, and Benigni did well in not showing the bony or the dead bodies. There is nothing wrong with depicting hope in what was a hopeless situation.

Review: This is without a doubt one of the best movies that I have ever seen! Benigni reminds me of Charlie Chaplin in so many ways. First of all, he was able to take a subject that was very serious and turn it into a very funny comedy. The horrors of the Holocaust are still there and it's still very obvious how real the danger is, but that makes the movie that much more special. Benigni and co-screenwriter Vincenzo Cerami turned in a heaven-blessed script (the scene with Benigni and Nicoletta Braschi in the rain is a real standout. If only we could win over women that easily) and Benigni, while not having the best performance of the year, certainly played the best character of the year. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a true cinematic classic. It's a movie that dares to be ambitious, dares to find happiness in the most depressing of places, and as just a movie, is a real treat to watch! One of the best movies ever made!
