Summary: Don't bother looking for the beauty of Hawaii in this prod.
Review: My family is travelling to Hawaii, so I purchased this DVD hoping for some guidance as to what to do or where to go, more in the vein of Travels in Europe or something. What I got was a cheesy, tourist bureau-like production. The images were of people in bikinis, people shopping, the history of Hawaii as told by pictures and stock historical footage. If you want some background on Hawaii, this may be for you, but this didn't give much in the way of information of places to go. It missed all the beauty in favor of commercialism. Very disappointing. I was hoping for more on beaches, watersports, lava viewing, tropical settings, hiking. This DVD had lots of people enjoying everyday life in Hawaii, but not many of the things visitors would be interested in doing or seeing. So, in my opinion, pass. You'd have better luck looking at sites with pictures (look up "hawaii-xpert" for some excellent advice on beaches, top things to do, lodging or "all hawaii vacations" for some nice pictures of several beaches to give you an idea of what to expect). Or, try Hawaii Revealed or Maui Revealed (books which can be purchased at Amazon).

Review: This is a wonderful production of the beautiful Hawaiian Islands. You will see some of the most awesome footage available of Paradise. Many places are beyond the average visitor's range of exploration. It is a great souvenir and provides a lifetime memory of a visit to the islands. You can find all the free information about planning your trip to Hawaii in a myriad of sources, but this DVD allows you to revisit the islands over and over and over, specially during the cold winter. I strongly reccommend Hawaii Magnificent.
