Rating: Summary: Makes Me Proud! Review: I highly recommend this DVD to anyone thinking of joining the Marine Corps and especially for parents who have a son or daughter thinking of joining the Corps. I viewed this program recently and I feel very proud of the young men and women who take up this challenge. I served briefly in the mid-70s and I was curious as to how things have changed. It's still tough. My nephew leaves for boot camp in March. I feel better knowing that my Corps is still the Corps I knew. Also, an earlier reviewer mentioned that the Crucible was not included on this DVD. He must not have seen this version, because it is very definitely there and is extremely well done. Most impressive. Semper Fi.
Rating: Summary: Sign Me Up Review: If only I could sign up again. It's been more than a few years since I wore the Marine Corps green and I'd kind of lost touch. Recently I purchased this video to see if old memories were rekindled. WOW!!! Boot Camp is still tough. This video really shows the hardships and physical challenges of becoming a Marine. Highly recommended. Teachers, guidance counselors, and school administrators everywhere should make sure your students see this video when undecided with their career choice. Forty years later, I have no regrets and wish I could serve again. Tell everyone you know about this video. I feel really proud to have found it.
Rating: Summary: Almost real....almost. Review: This movie accuarately depicts what boot camp is really like. Except for one thing, the crucible. Due to the release date of this video, it was released and made before the crucible began. However, the crucible which is the last 54 hours of events at boot camp is now part of it. Other than not having the crucible, this is a pretty good movie.
Rating: Summary: One of the best programs I've seen about the Marine Corps Review: Without a doubt, this is one of the best programs I've ever seen about Marine Corps boot camp. I bought this DVD to see the bonus feature about boot camp at San Diego in the 1950s. Turns out that I was fascinated by both. To see how it was and how it is, I must tell you I feel confident that our new generation of Marines will do a great job. You sense the pride in these young men and women as they become Marines.I highly recommend this program to anyone interested in joining the Marine Corps and especially for the parents of future Marines. Our country is in great hands. God bless America and our Corps. Semper Fi.
