Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Sensitive Portrait
Review: This DVD version of "The Amish - A People Of Preservation" is senstive and artistic. It gives the viewer an excellent understanding of the people who abjure the techonogical rat race of the industrial age - while dedicated to God in their hard work and communal living. It is curious that while some Amish spurn technology altogether, for others it is allowed by need or is limited - such as the use of a milking machine or tractors without rubber tires. This seems duplicitous and hypocritical. But one might say the same about all religions which have underlying explanations to apparent duplicity - which are either accepted or rejected by outsiders.

I am rather curious to know what the Amish thought of this video. I have viewed a few documentaries on the Catholic Church and found them wanting if not outright anti-Catholic. Perhaps the Amish might have felt the same (or not) about this documentary.
