Summary: .....I am at a loss for titles
Review: Not for the young an excellent animated story of survival this tells the tale of a group of rabbits who leave their warren after one Fiver prophesies doom. They travel in search of the perfect place and meet with other warrens on the way. Hazel leads the group who find a warren of rabbits serving under an evil general and so plot to save them.
A great tale that deserves recognition *wails* I wish Blackabar didn't die!

Review: Although this is a cartoon (animation), it is not suitable for children. It is graphic(bloody)in showing the violent death of rabbits. In no way do I believe this belongs related to family or children catagories!

Review: I have been reading reviews on this movie and I am really disappointed. Most people have given this movie poor rating only because they have allowed their children to watch the movie and it scared them. Does this automatically mean the movie is bad? By no means is this movie better than the book, but most of the times books are made into movies I expect them to have a life of their own. This movie succeeds in having it's own life it is able to stand up without the support of the book. What I think is when a book is made into a movie the movie has to be different for us to enjoy it. Last of all if you do have young kids don't let them watch it and if you do don't blame the movie for violence and gore. Don't try and judge an adult movie under child appropriateness.

Summary: Absolutely awesome - (Too bad many people are so fickle)
Review: You know, I have to say that any of you who rated this movie less than four stars are pretty pathetic. This is one of the finest movies I have ever seen in anime. For God's sake, any child can watch this, but it up to you the parents to research it first so you know whether it is acceptable, but don't criticize a movie because of violent content. I would much rather my child watch this than WWE wrestling where you have gorgeous women losing their panties and their tops at pay per views not to mention on cable itself. I do not in anyway bash the children because if they were frightened it is not their fault. This movie as far as I know has always been intense and can affect us all differently. I read the book as well after I had seen the movie and of course the movie will never be as good as the book but, good grief, what movie actually is these days. Most movies are just garbage and I rarely see movies. I will tell you that I watched this movie when I was probably three years old and I understood everything that was going on and it has been one of my favorite movies for over 20 years. The storyline is beautiful, the characters are superb, the music is excellent, and it entrances me everytime I am able to view it. This is a must have movie for anyone who wants to see gifted story telling in action. And to all you parents who rated this so poorly, I think you better rethink what you put down because this movie will not drive a child to violence and it is your duty as proper human beings to guide your children and explain to them what will happen in a movie such as this. As far as I am concerned I am disgusted that you would call this violent considering every movie out to today has someone wielding a gun or has some sort of sexual content in it. Think, that is all that I am asking you to do. Use your brain, that's what God gave you one for didn't he?
But rather I did not write this to bash anyone in particular. I am disagreeing with what I read and have a perfect right to do so. Anyone at all, see this movie, it is a true masterpiece but mind you don't be stupid enough to compare it to the book because no movie is as good as a book is at anytime. Trust me!

Summary: I does not follow the book no matter what!
Review: I loved the book. the movie did not even follow it one stinkin little bit. for staters Blackberry was not a doe and Dandelion told the stories. balackavar did not die. There where no does when they started. Watership Down is the best book in the world. the movie was just rabbits killing each other and riping each others guts out. It should be rated R. It changed my images of the watership down rabbits which in my book is a horible sin. This movie is not a kids movie and will never be. The movie sickend me by the graphic nature and how un like book it was. The only reason I rated it one star becuse Kehaar, he was realy funny. Another thing Ruu-duu-duu which means moter is acutually Hrudduu in the book. Don't ever see this garbage, read the the wonderful book.

Summary: One of the greatest (animated) stories ever told
Review: I first read Richard Adam's novel when I was 10 years old, and found it hugely engrossing. A serious devourer of books, this was the first that I re-read once I had finished it.I went to see the movie as a birthday treat when I was 12, and was more than a little disappointed at the omissions - although, to be fair, most of them were not mainstays of the plot, but Blackberry's wonderful tales of El-Ahrairah. On the whole, the film stays true to the novel, and has some truly inspired interpretations (Fiver's vision). As has been said many times, Disney this ain't. Read the book before watching, and you may share my slight disappointment. Read the book afterwards, and you may find you re-read it too - especially if, like me, you are familiar with the Berkshire countryside. It must be emphasised that my disappointment is slight - this is a truly great animation suitable for all ages, but not for those of frail dispositions or those easily upset by real life. There is a world of difference between an animated movie and a kid's cartoon, although personally, I think that this movie bridges the gap very well. For comparison, read Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, then go see the movie.

Summary: Stunning! Great animation, BUT for kids above 10 years old!
Review: Watership Down is a wonderfull and compelling book and this Vhs version is of a good quality and has not altered the story from book much. i loved it as a 11 year ol child (it brought me down-to-earth about reality).
Beware that there are scenes of brutality and death as seen originally in nature (not negatively meant,on the contrary!). So if have not had that talk with your kids, about death and the cruelty of nature do not let them watch it on their own. This is not a Disney movie (were the harsh and brutal stuff of nature is left out-or anthropomorphized).

Summary: An Amazing Movie based on an amazing book
Review: This excellent portrayal of Richard Adams Best-Selling Novel is great, although most children under ten would not like it because of its graphicness. Any person who has read and enjoyed this book will love this movie, there are many powerful scenes including the one where Fiver goes to find his brother Hazel. When Art Garfunkel sings "Bright Eyes" and you almost want to cry. With excellent voice-acting from John Hurt and Richard Briars this is one movie that will always be on my Top Ten List. Go see it.

Summary: NOT FOR KIDS!!!
Review: Do not let your children see this movie until they are at least 10. My daugther watched this movie as a child and I regret letting her see it to this very day. It is intensely graphic and visual. True, the plot is good, BUT IT IS NOT FOR CHILDREN! She has had countless nights where she couldn't fall asleep because she would invision the head evil rabbit leering down upon her. The movie has way to many details about how the rabbits died.It shows them spiraling into death, taking their last gasps for air as they die. Please, for your child's sake, don't let them watch this movie until they are ready for it.
