Summary: Cool graphics; silly story?
Review: Summary:
Takua (Jason Michas - voice) and Jaller (Andrew Francis) are friends in the Bionicle world; Takua is 'The Chronicler' (apparently this entails keeping a history of the Bionicle people) and Jaller is the Captain of the Guard for his particular clan. As Takua is searching around inside a volcano one day for additional information for his chronicling assignment he happens to find The Mask of Light, which awakens Makuta (Lee Tockar - voice). Makuta is Mata Nui's brother (Mata Nui is the head god of the island) and has put him in a deep sleep, forcing evil onto the world of Mata Nui (which is also the name of the island).

Apparently there is a prophecy stating that when the Mask of Light is found, a seventh Toa (Toas are warriors representing different elements of nature: fire, water, earth, wood, snow, etc.), will appear and help the other toas defeat Makuta and re-awaken Mata Nui.

Takua and Jaller are then sent on a journey to find the seventh Toa, during which they meet all of the other toas. The code of Mata Nui encourages three things in the Bionicle people: Unity, Duty, and Destiny. For some reason the other toas are no longer unified, which is why Makuta is so strong.

Eventually Takua finds the seventh toa - it's himself. Putting on the mask, he becomes Toa Takanuva (the seventh toa), and leads the toas to Makuta where they defeat him and re-awaken Mata Nui.

My Comments:
The CGI is pretty cool on this film. There are times when the details on the characters or in the scenery are really amazing. There are a few spots where the animation kind of looks a little choppy, but overall its well-done.

The story, on the other hand, is pretty silly. Of course, I'll probably offend a lot of people by saying so because apparently Bionicle is a big selling toy by Lego and this is supposed to be the backstory for the toys. Nevertheless, I wasn't too impressed by the story. I guessed when Takua found the mask that he was supposed to be the seventh Toa, so when he finally put on the mask I wasn't at all surprised. There is also the problem with Takua deciding at one point that he is going to leave Jallar to find the seventh toa himself. Takua's decision doesn't really make any sense. There is also no explanation of why the other six toas are so upset with one another. There are a lot of story problems, despite an absolute suspension of belief. The story also seems to draw heavily on Pacific Islander type myths, legends, and names. Why? I don't know. But it is an interesting connection that I don't believe has been made before.

Overall, the movie is probably kind of interesting to people that played with the Bionicle toys, but to people that are not interested in the toys nor the backstory behind them, this probably isn't a movie you'll be interested in seeing. The CGI is pretty cool, but the story isn't compelling or engaging.

Summary: :-D Review: The movie is great, and the graphics are awsome, the only problem was Lewa Nuva's voice. The rakshi (did I speel it right?) are pretty cool, I thought they looked like the creatures from Alein. If you havent seen the movie, then you are really missing out on something. And, if you have any Bionicle fans in your house they will be soooo exited about getting it. I enjoyed it even though I don't know much about Bionicle!

Summary: It's very nice!
Review: This is a nice movie and I would recommend it to anyone. I'm a...er...veteran Bionicle fan, and I was impressed of how the movie stayed with the story. I enjoyed it, although I noticed that there a lot of "rocks-falling-and-people-running-and-screaming-everywhere" scenes. The computer graphics are very very good, but sometimes some scenes look strangely sped up a bit or shaky. The biggest annoyance in the movie was probably Lewa's voice. It seemed way too fake, and he said things like "windfly", "footwalkin'" and "quickspeed" too much.
I loved the commentary because it was really interesting. The Behind-the-Scenes are very nice too.
It's a good movie for everybody, even my 4-year-old brother demanded to see it again as soon as the credits started rolling, so it's not THAT scary. You should buy it!

Summary: Great, but not excellent.
Review: This is a really cool and fun movie. If your a Bionicle fan you should definatly see it. The graphics are really good and the character voices are just right for each Toa and Matoran. People who don't know much about Bionicle or who haven't seen the online episodes or who haven't read the comics may find the storyline a little confusing, but you can easily get a general idea of what's happening in the movie. Some things ,however, aren't explained, like why Gali (the only girl Toa) and Tahu hate each other in the beginning. In the movie the Toa, Matoran, Makuta and Rakshi look very different than their toy counterparts. You can also get a great sense of the power each Toa has. Each Toa reacts with each other very strangely (like the way Kopaka gets all touchy with Gali). Infact, at one part he actually puts his arm around Gali and hugs her, touches her with love and brings her close to him after she heels Tahu. Overall this is a movie not to be missed by any Bionicle fan. If you aren't a Bionicle fan, be warned that this isn't like Pirates of the Caribbean or Lord of the Rings, but it's still worth checking out. If you aren't sure it will be any good you should rent it first.

Summary: Bionicle Mask Of Light: The movie
Review: This movie is cool! The only drawback i sthe animation. Tahu, Gali, Lewa, and Onua don't look like they do on those toy commercials. About the only two Toa Nuva that look okay are Pohatu and Kopaka. But still, another animation drawback is the Rahkshi. What's up with those messed up heads when the kraata comes right through it? That was disgusting! Anyway, Takanuva's creation doesn't follow the comics, and his voice sounds like a girl's. He also looks like Onua with gold and white armor, but the mask is like exactly the same!

Overall, this movie is good. It may be scary for little kids, but it's pretty cool for older ones. Anyway, I'm sure
Bionicle 2: Legends of Metru Nui is going to be much, much better. The Toa Metru are better, anyway.

I reccomend to first rent this movie, watch it, and if you like it, watch it again, then go and buy it!

Summary: Let the story beggin
Review: This movie is really good, and the music is good too. The movie starts were book 4: Tales of the Masks (Bionicle Chronicles) ended. To understand this movie you would have to read all of the Bionicle Books (But, only the Chronicles books first, then you can go to the Adventures series). As you read the books you find info that the movie did not tell.
Now with Bionicle 2 Legends of Metru Nui (On DVD and Video, Fall 2004) and Bionicle 3 (In Theaters 2005) in the works, The Bionicle story is just beginning.

So Takua and Jaller(Jala) left Ta-koro to seek the 7th toa but creepy villian Makuta, sent his sons, the fearsome rahkshi. and----ahh I can't giveaway the suprise, I say you should buy it (even if you don't know about Bionicle), rated PG for action violence and scary images.

Summary: Surprisingly good sci-fi
Review: We bought this movie for my five-year-old Bionicle crazy son. My husband has read him the comic books that come with Lego magazine. I didn't know much about the story. I was really amazed at how good the movie was. It had a complete story line. The graphics were excellent and I have become somewhat a Bionicle fan, myself now. I must admit fatigue from hearing about them 12 hours a day, but this movie was really fun and exciting. The animators did a great job bringing the Bionicles to life. We look forward to the next movie.

Summary: Must Buy for any Bionicle Fan!
Review: We got this movie the week it got released. The graphics are great and so is the sound. The movie has some good morals presented and was fun to follow along with the story line. It is a must buy for any Bionicle fan.
