Summary: Oh how we love Bear!
Review: This a super cute video about using the potty instead of diapers. My two year old is not using the potty himself, but he does love the songs and sings along to "Hey, Hey, Hey Potty". Maybe it will make him a little less afraid of leaving his diapers behind, but I don't think this one video is the answer to toilet training a child. My main drawback of this video is it only has this one story on the tape, 20 minutes and it's over. If possible just record it next time it's on Disney.

Summary: Useless for potty training, but kids might like the shows
Review: This dvd has very minimal content relating to potty training. Of the 3 episodes included, only 1 has anything to do with potty training. The other 2 have absolutely nothing to do with potty training. And in the 1 episode that does talk about potty training, there really isn't anything that useful. They just show bear telling the little blue mouse it's ok to go to the bathroom, and then they show the blue mouse sitting on the potty, and then they sing a song about the joys of going on the potty. That's pretty much all there is. There's really nothing helpful here to help your 2 or 3 year old to go to the potty. In fact, I would say they're being very deceptive with the title. I mainly bought it because of the title, which made me think I was getting about 1 hour's worth of shows about potty training. What you end up with is about 5 or 6 minutes of potty related content. The rest is standard Bear stuff, with no reference to potty training. Our son will watch it for a few minutes, but you know, Bear is not the most popular character with kids.
We were very disappointed.

Summary: Loved It!
Review: Honestly, I bought this video out of desperation. My daughter was one of the last girls in her two year old preschool class to be potty trained. Well, this video (in combination with the Dora underwear) did the trick! She loved the songs and thought it was funny that Tutter the mouse was sitting at the potty. Very cute indeed.

Summary: Potty trained in 2 days
Review: I bought the dvd for my 2 1/2 year old grandson who would not even sit on the potty before he watched this. He started going to his potty and has not had a accident(1 or 2) since he started going. I was amazed.

Summary: Warning- these potty songs get stuck in your head!
Review: This video is great (if unfortunately a little catchy- I say unfortunately because cooking dinner while singing "the mystic order of the toileteers" will definatley have your husband a little worried)But my 2 yr loves this video. He is entertained for sure but after seeing it he felt welcome to the bathroom. Before when I had tried to stick him on a potty or toilet- he would freak out. It was too scary- too much pressure- I am not sure. he is still not potty trained but after seeing the video he was very excited to try going through the motions (at least) of using the bathroom. He sat on the toilet, pretended to wipe and flushed and washed his hands. Now I know none of that is especially impressive when the act in which we so anticipate wasn't actually performed but I think it is progess. If you have an older child this is is very reinforcive (there is a scene where one of the animals has an accident and bear is very kind in that situation letting her know that its ok), I would however recommend buying this video with another one that actually shows real children using the potty for the purpose intended so that your child doesn't get confused- thinking it is all a game of pretend. I am getting my boy another video with real kids so that he can get a better grasp of what's actually supposed to go down in the bathroom. But the video will definately make your kid and you feel more comfortable talking about the whole process.

Summary: Tipped the scale
Review: My 2 1/2 year old son had the potty basics down. Pee-pee was pretty easy but he WOULD NOT do #2 in the potty. I ordered the video and he loved it! I saw a definate change in his potty habits within 2 days (watching 2-3 times a day). After 2-3 weeks he was using the potty without my wife or I asking him. Even if it only knocks a month off of the childs learning curve you are going to save money on diapers :-)

Summary: Words like suave, and debonair to confusing for little ones
Review: I bought this video to try to encourage my son to use the potty. He likes Bear, but this video is way to confusing for a potty learning youngster. With words like words like suave, and debonair, the message is quickly lost for short attention spans. I was very disappointed with this video. "Two thumbs down"

Summary: Buy the DVD
Review: The VHS video comes with only one episode for close to $10. For almost $13, the DVD has 3 episodes. I learned the hardway. My daughter loves bear and enjoys watching this video but I should have bought the DVD to get more bang for my buck.

Summary: Potty time perfection....
Review: I had been coaxing my daughter to use the potty consistently for some months, when Dad spotted this and we ordered it. ( Trust me, you may get to that point too..you will seek out anything!) We had tried books, rewards, etc...and it wasn't getting the results we wanted. Honestly, after a few times of watching Bear in the Big Blue House sing and talk about the potty, our daughter responded! I cannot take the credit for knowing how it worked..I just know that it worked! Also, once she accomplished the "potty hurdle", she did not want to watch the DVD again, so we sent it to our nephew. We were very pleased with the results, and would highly recommend it.

Summary: Good Fun, With a Useful Message, Too
Review: I got this for my 24-month old daughter about the time she was showing interest in potty-training. I agree with other reviewers who have said that it reinforces the same points that the potty books do, and is probably in itself no more (or less) motivating. However, I like the gentle pacing of this "Bear in the Big Blue House" DVD, and potty-training is one of those things that I think needs all the reinforcement it can get. I also like the fact that this is not just another potty book (of which my daughter has several), but instead reinforces the potty message using a different medium.
