Summary: Beauty is only skin deep
Review: When Belle, who lives with her father Maurice, goes into town, she is looked upon as a strange girl who's nose is always stuck in a book. She's also the prettiest girl in town according to the snobish and self absorbed Gaston. So when Maurice gets lost in the woods on the way to an inventors fair, he finds a castle belonging to a beast that had once been a prince. The prince had been a selfish and absorbed jerk too, but was cursed by an enchantress to remain a beast until he could learn to love another and earn her love in return. Anyways, the beast has a major problem with Maurice being there and locks him in the tower. So when Belle finds her father and is confronted by the beast, she takes his place as prisnor and Maurice is released.

At first, Belle is terrified by the beast's temper and hideous appearance. Then she starts to actually get to know him and her opinion of him changes. After a while, the beast finds it in his heart to let her go. She goes home to find out that Gaston is trying to bribe her into marrying him by threatening to throw her father in the loony bin.

All in all, Gaston gets what's coming to him and Belle realizes that she's in love with the beast. She is rewarded by discovering his true identity.

Summary: Another Disney Masterpiece
Review: Beauty and the Beast is one of the best animated films of all time, and it shows with this exceptional dvd.

At the heart of this 2-Disc edition dvd is the remastered audio and video. Never before have I seen such amazing restoration, showcasing the groundbreaking animation that Disney is known for. The sound is equally impressive, and the addition of surround sound is great. The extra features are plentiful, with three versions of the film, audio commentary, games for the children, music videos, and more. What more could you want in a dvd?

So I recommend that you go out and get this dvd. Beauty and the Beast is one of the greatest animated films you will ever see, with a classic story, wonderful animation, characters, and music. You'll have plenty of laughs, and kids and adults alike will enjoy every second of it. Not to mention that the Special Platinum Edition has more features and extras than you could possibly ask for. Summary: Review mania
Review: This movie, is great, how the beast has its own very unique caracter, and how the beast had gotten a spellbound on him because he had judged a princess over looks, in the begining of the movie, until belle's father Maurice, had gotten lost on his way to an nvention contest. Belle on the search for him, had met the beast, replaced her self for her fathers freedom and soon enough the beast had fallen in love with Belle, and the Beast had left Belle free. She new there was trouble so she had come back, Because of Belle's love, the Beast's spell has been broken, and the Beast and all of the other people who also had turned into an object, all turned back into humains, and they all lived happily ever after!

Summary: Thank you Disney for the memories
Review: Disney's has lots of hits over the years, but the period from 1989-1995 brought Disney back to their magical height again. Starting from Disney's Little Mermaid all the way to Disney's Pocahontas. But one magical film details this period wonderfully,Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

I remember watching this movie in 5th grade in my classroom. And I loved it. From the characters to the dramatic settings, that take place in France. This film is one of the coupe-de-grande films of all time, and the ballroom dancing scene? An original and most cherished scene.

I'd recommend this.

Summary: Tale as Old as Time
Review: WIthout a doubt the most lovely Disney movie ever. Actually one of the best movies ever. This newly restored eddition is so wonderful. It has tons of extras that everybody loves, that are also extremely facinating. They have the original music video with Celine Dion singing Beauty and the Beast which is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. The newly restored version of the movie is breathtaking. I remember being mezmerized with it when I was growing up. I thought it was the best movie ever and today I still think it is the best (Well only Sound of Music tops it). This movie is one of the best love stories ever written and there is a reason it was the first animated movie to be nominated for an oscar. If you don't have this you are missing out on the most amazing movies ever!

Summary: A true magnificence
Review: Certainly this is a very effective film and the restoration was good, only a mite overdone. It needed a hell more extras but it wassn't horrible or anything.

Summary: Disney At Its Best
Review: In 1991, Disney was riding high on the huge success of "The Little Mermaid". That film, released two years prior, took in a mammoth $200 at the box-office, sold millions of copies on video and saw its accompanying soundtrack go multi-platinum. An unprecedented success for an animated movie, and a rare one for any movie.
"Beauty and the Beast" was the official follow-up to that film (the unofficial one is "The Rescuers Down-Under", a sequel to the 1977 feature, "The Rescuers"). The film, stylized as a Broadway musical, quickly became a favorite among critics and viewers alike. It became the first animated movie to hit the $100 million mark at the domestic box-office ("The Little Mermaid" came close, with almost $90 million). It immediately matched "Mermaid"'s success by selling 22 million copies of the home-video in 1992 and the soundtrack, featuring the title hit song by Celine Dion, sold 3 million copies. It also became the only animated film in history to receive an Oscar nomination for 'Best Picture'; It eventually lost to "The Silence Of The Lambs" but nonetheless took the Oscars for 'Best Song' ("Beauty and the Beast") and 'Best Score'.
The film features some of the best visuals ever seen in a Disney film; the highlight, easily being the famous ballroom scene. The animators did a tremendous job in giving the film its unique look. From the beast's enchanted, gothic castle to the quiet, provincial village where Belle lives.
The 'special edition' version looks fabulous and the colors are bold and vibrant. The new sequence added, "Human Again", fits perfectly into the film and the animation is definitely on par.
The music in "Beauty and the Beast" is top class. Composer Alan Menken and lyricist Howard Ashman teamed up for a spectacular score and songs. Ashamn's lyrics are wit and charming and Menken's music is pleasantly catchy. The music in "Beauty" gives the film its bold characterization of a Broadway-like musical. The film has never sounded better.
"Beauty and the Beast" is one of the finest Disney films ever. We're only left to hope that Disney can, sometime in the future, deliver us a classic like the ones they provided us from 1989's "The Little Mermaid" to 1994's "The Lion King".

Summary: Beautiful Good Benevolent Witch
Review: Does anyone else find it disturbing that the "beautiful" witch turned a little boy (albeit selfish) into a monster? If you'll listen to the song "Be Our Guest", you will find out that they've been rusting in the castle for ten years. And considering that the magical rose withers completely on his 21st birthday, I find it unbelievable that anyone could justify the actions of the beautiful witch....who had nothing better to do with her time than pick on an 11 year old boy.

You should never let strangers into the house, even if they're carrying magical beautiful roses.

Summary: Magnificent
Review: The Platinum Edition DVD release of Beauty and the Beast is wonderful! It includes not 2 but 3 versions of the movie! And of course, it has wonderful features!
The Disney version of this fairy tale has always enchanted me. It's not one of those "let's copy the story word by word" kind of thing. You realise that Disney put a big effort in this release!
You go disney!
