Summary: Toy Story 2 tops original.
Review: The first Toy Story was amazing. CGI had never looked so good, and the humor was bizarre and hilarious, so both children and adultscould enjoy it. Adults and children are bound to love the sequel too, as shown by the film's $80 million opening weekend. OK, high profits aren't always a good indication of a great movie (take "Titanic" or "Star Wars: Episode 1" for example), but the high returns are actually justified in this one. In this film, Woody is kidnapped by an evil toy collector voiced by the-always-evil Wayne Knight ("Seinfeld"). Woody discovers not only his roots, but also the true meaning of family. A lot of people like the yodeling Jessie voiced by Joan Cusack, but I'd have to say that the best scenes involve Tim Allen and his duels with his nemesis Zurg. Pop culture references allow adults to get some jokes that kids might miss, but the kids will have a blast watching this animated adventure. This movie is more plot-oriented than the first--which kids will love--and is hence more fun. Josh Bob says check this out. Four stars. END

Summary: Toys
Review: Toy Story (1995, 80 minutes, Dolby Digital Surround; Audio Commentary, Interviews) As 6-year-old Andy's favorite toy, Woody (Tom Hanks), a take-charge, pull-string cowboy, is confident in his role as room leader. But after Andy's birthday party, newcomer Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), a flashy space ranger with laser action and pop-out wings, crash-lands into Woody's world.

Buzz instantly wins the admiration of Andy's other toys, igniting a rivalry that lands the duo inside the home of Sid - the toy-torturing boy next door. To escape Sid's evil plans, Woody and Buzz must work together and realize they've got the perfect friend...in each other!

Toy Story 2 (1999, 94 minutes, Dolby Digital 5.l Surround EX; Audio Commentary, Sep. Film Score Audio Track, Outakes) Andy goes to summer camp and the toys face a new crisis: Woody turns out to be a valuable collectible, and is kidnapped by an evil toy collector. It's now up to Buzz and the gang to find a way to save him.

Summary: Hey, Michael Eisner - Re-release this on DVD!
Review: I've just watched this film on TV with my family, and, since we all loved it, turned to this page to see about buying it. But - no surprise - the geniuses at Disney have locked this one up in their vault (along with the original "Toy Story"), and aren't making it available for sale. So instead of Disney making money by selling me one, I'm going to have to scout around and buy a second-hand copy, or simply videotape it when it's repeated on the Disney Channel. Either way, we won't have the 'mint' copy we'd like, and Disney will be losing another sale. Talk about bad business decisions!

Summary: Toy Story 2 Is Better Then the Original!
Review: I had expected a dull child's cartoon with a meaningless plot and dull characters...wow was I ever wrong! Toy Story 2 is funny, exciting, dramatic, and very entertaining! This time around, Woody is stolen by a greedy toy collector...why? Because it turns out that Woody is a valuable doll from the 1950's when he had his own popular TV show! As Buzz and the rest of the toys frantically try to find a way to rescue Woody, our cow-boy hero meets other toys just like him---Jesse the cow-girl, the Prospector, and Woody's hillarious horse. And all this time Woody starts to wonder if maybe he's found his rightful home...or has he? The animation is tops, the plot is engrossing, and the movie is excellent! If you think an animated feauture is just a bunch of interesting graphics then you're wrong! This is a heart-warming and wonderful family film.

Summary: A triumph!
Review: In this sequel to Toy Story, Woody (Tom Hanks) begins to fear that his usefulness as a toy is coming to end. When Woody is stolen, Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) organizes a rescue. While our erstwhile heroes are seeking Woody out, Woody finds out the truth about himself; it seems that in the '50s he was the star of a hit show - Woody's Round-up. Given a choice between returning to his owner (and facing the end of his usefulness), or staying with the Round-up gang and living forever in a toy museum, Woody is torn. Simultaneously, the rescue team is facing peril after peril, culminating in the ultimate confrontation - Buzz Lightyear versus the evil Emperor Zurg! [Color, created in 1999, with a running time of 92 minutes.]

This movie is outstanding, and even better than the original! The darkness that shaded the original (Sid) is missing in this one, and the minor sadness is quickly replaced with adventure and hilarity. As an added bonus, the VHS includes the original Pixar cartoon Luxo Jr. and a set of outtakes (both originally seen in the theatre version), plus a video of the Riders in the Sky singing the Woody's Round-up Medley.

The movie is entertaining and lighthearted, the soundtrack is entertaining, and the action is spellbinding. This is a great movie for all ages. I can't recommend it enough.

Summary: In a class of its own
Review: Excellent movie. Both my 3 year old daughter & myself sit down together & watch this movie on a regular basis. We both love this movie - she adores the characters and I love the humourous storyline & quality animation. Not a dull moment from beginning to end.

Summary: An excellent gift for a child or an adult!
Review: Toy Story and Toy Story 2 are among the classics of animation! It's lots of fun to sit back, watch Toy Story and then follow it up with Toy Story 2, which is just as vibrant, funny, and heartwarming as the first one. Toy Story 2 concerns itself with what happens when Woody is abducted by an evil, money-grubbing toy collector. Without making it into a lecture, the movie points out the ugly greed of toy collecting for profit, not fun. The movie gently asserts that toys are for us to play with and to enjoy, not to be stuffed on to a shelf to gather dust. It'll break your heart when you see Wheezy included among the yard sale items; you'll want to rescue him yourself. TS 2 introduces a funny, non-enlightened version of Buzz, and the real Buzz thinks out loud, "Was I ever this deluded?" Turns out that the 2nd Buzz is necessary to the story, even though he's a pompous Space Ranger.

TS 2 also includes some special touches that carry over from TS. The Pizza Planet delivery truck makes an appearance in TS2, and the results are hilarious when the toys attempt to drive. At one point, the toys must cross the street to get to Al'S Toy Barn, and they do this by hiding under orange road cones, with hilarious/disastrous results -- it reminds you of how Woody and Buzz sneaked into Pizza Planet in TS. It's little touches like these that really illustrate how much they tried to make TS2 feel like the original.

The extras on the DVD are great, especially the outtakes reel. There's previews for upcoming releases, one of which is "Monsters, Inc." The whole set is definitely worth the money and would make an awesome gift for any TS fan!

Summary: It's Different.
Review: It's different from your average animated film. So was Toy Story part 1 but this one is better. The movie plotting is a lot better in this part. I give it five stars(I'd give it six if it was in my hands!)
