Summary: Long live King Babar!
Review: An amazing movie! The plot is fantastic! I watch the movie over and over and over again and I never get bored of it. A must see for kids of all ages! I sure hope they re-release it.

Summary: Rhyming Rhinos with really bad attitudes
Review: Have got two 3 year old girls who *LOVE* this movie with a religious devotion. They run around the house acting out various scenes from the movie, even learning to scream and squeal like Celeste (who does a lot of it in this movie).

I give it four stars only because the Rhinos are so completely over the top. Britaxis, who clearly suffers from extremely high blood pressure and has obviously overdosed on too much steriod laced coffee, needs a looooong vacation. And he rhymes. In comparison, the Britaxis of the older Babaar movie can seem possessed of a calm and Aristotelian demeanor.

There is nothing gentle about these Rhinos. When the girls first saw the movie, I worried the "cartoon violence" was too over the top, but obviously, three year old girls are perfectly capable of thriving on such "cartoon agression".

I would recommend it. Better, at least, than most of the Disney cartoon movies made these last three decades.

Summary: Fun Movie for Kids
Review: It's Babar's first day as king, and is this young ruler nervous. The most pressing thing on his agenda seems to be coming up with a name for the annual Elephantland parade when Celeste bursts in. Rataxes and his rhinos are attacking villages on the outskirts of Babar's kingdom and taking elephants as slave labor. Babar calls out the army, but it will take three days to be ready. Not able to wait that long, he sets out to do what he can on his own. But does Babar have what it takes? With a little luck, smart thinking, and a few new allies, he just might.

I remember watching this movie as a kid and enjoying it. I just couldn't pass up a chance to get it on DVD, and I'm glad to say it was almost as good as I remembered. A couple parts seemed a little cheesy now, but they were minor. There are still a couple great action sequences and the great one-liners I remembered were still present. This is a low budget picture, and its animation isn't up to the level of a Disney film, but it's certainly adequate to get the point across.

This DVD release is bare bones - just the film. The picture is good with only the occasional mar to its full frame image. Sound, in Dolby stereo, was a little disappointing in spot because it sounded a little fuzzy to me. Still, for what it is, this DVD serves up the movie right.

Kids will be entranced by this movie aimed directly at them. Adults will find it entertaining as well if not as engrossing as their kids think it is. Don't hesitate to get this little gem.

Summary: The greatest children's movie of all time
Review: This is a brilliant movie. It's been about five or six years since I've seen it, but I remember that from about age 3 to age 8 I checked this movie out about 40 times (I am not exaggerating). There are always a few special things from every person's childhood that that person will remember, and this is one of them for me. It is certainly my favorite item of all the Babar books and videos.

Summary: One of the best children's movies
Review: This is a movie that I watched and loved growing up and still love today. I bring it over when I babysit sometimes. It's a movie the kids love and someone my age can sit through and actually enjoy. The songs are catchy and the storyline has a lot of heart. Some scenes when Retaxus's troops take the elephants hostage might be frightning for younger kids. But I got frightened easily as a kid and if I can handle it, most average kids probably can too. I'd recomend this to anyone who wants to watch a movie with their kids they both can enjoy.

Summary: A life lesson............
Review: This movie is absolutely amazing! It tells the story of Babar as a young elephant, and his struggles of ruling a country. His friends' village is attacked by evil rhinos who enslave the elephants living there. The movie is action-packed, but I wouldn't recommend it for very young children. The rhino attack scenes are a little intense, but nothing really awful. The songs are wonderful, and the lesson really stuck in my mind. This movie is perfect for almost any child.

Summary: A perfect hit for kids
Review: This movie, although a bit tough to understand for really little kids, remains firmly in my mind even though it has been about nine years since I have seen it. It teaches kids about the wrongs of slavery, and the idea that even a kid can make a difference. I can't begin to express my sorrow since they've discontinued it, I'm considering writing to the prouducer-type-people. Because if there's anything this movie has taught me, it's that no matter your age, you can still change things.
