Summary: For Very Young children with No Diabetes only
Review: Don Bluth bravely ventured to found his very own animation production studio and - zap, kapow, his films are just as sappy.

This film is a story of a troll named Stanley, who likes pretty flowers and wants to be nice among all the trolls who are dedicated to being mean, and is banished by the Evil Troll Queen to Central Park, NY.

What can I say. I got very nauseous from the syrupy icky poo cuteness of this film. All the character designs are "cute" in the most rounded-off, retarded, unappealing way imaginable.

Very young children may derive some kicks out of this, but does it teach them anything? Yes, it indeed does: all Bad People are easy to recognize. If they have warts and cackle in a reverberant voice, they are EVIL. <insert reverberant thunderclap here> You are advised to reality check your children after seeing this film, to keep them from being permanently infantilized.

Technically, this movie isn't that bad. Nice, colorful animation, passable voice acting and OK sound engineering make this a notch better than those cheaply produced animated features that are released in sync with big Disney hits.

If you have very young kids to whom you want to make believe that they live in a hippety hop happy soft pink cute and cuddly world where nothing could ever harm them - in order to maximize the shock and anguish when they actually get hurt, add this film to their Care Bears and My Little Pony collection.

If not, spend your money on something else.

Summary: this movie was not to good
Review: I laughed so hard through out this whole movie. It is very stupid. The plot is a good troll lives in a world with bad trolls. The good troll has a magical green thumb, and he can make talking flowers. The bad trolls can turn things to stone. The bad trolls find out he is making flowers and banish him to new york city but he ends up in central park. He meets two smal children. The rest of the movie is just a weird acid trip. The movie is ful of bright colors and plot holes. I'm sure younger children might enjoy the movie, I did but only because the movie was stupid. Hehe

Summary: NOT FOR THE CYNICAL-OPTIMISTS ONLY
Review: I rented this for my daughter, not expecting much, but I was very impressed. The little troll Stanley is adorable and very lovable-isn't that what we want to see in a children's movie? He is an excellent role model for kindness and positive thinking-something lacking in some adults, I might add. The children were very believable, and I found myself getting very absorbed in the story, and rooting for the "good" characters.
The evil trolls were perfectly evil, and the heros find clever ways to deal with them while having a wonderful adventure. I think there are great messages here.1.)Pay attention to the children in your life, make time for them. 2.)You're never too old to think" young" and have fun. Give this movie a chance. I intend to buy it A.S.A.P. The animation was beautiful and the voices perfectly suited to the characters, in my opinion. Great job, Mr. Bluth!

Summary: What a pathetic drivel!
Review: I've rented the cassette to watch with my son and sat stunned through the film - just could not comprehend how someone in 1994 could come up with such ridiculous piece of nothing. Perhaps the characters' design took only a couple hours - or the film's "cute" kids were copied from a box of some obscure off-brand cereal - they are sickeningly cheesy. The final shots of Manhattan being strangled by these predatory lianas building by building look as a horror film culmination. I do not want to elaborate on the songs and gags - it's all very inferior.

I am no big fan of Disney, but at least they have a basic idea of the quality control - I can not remember any obvious flops leaving their assembly line. Yes, their product became uninspired and cliched but I do not believe they are capable of presenting us with an idiocy of A Troll...'s level.

Avoid that garbage by any means.

Summary: A number one child's movie
Review: I've seen this movie a million times and it never gets boring. Lovable characters for most ages, first class animation, great sing-a-long tunes and much, much more. A Troll named (Stanley) a good troll who wants to grow flowers is banished from his flower hating kingdom to Central Park. Here Stanley meets two young kids who's parents never spends enough time with them. Meanwhile Gornorga the Queeen of the evil troll, is trying to turn Stanley into stone. Summary: My daughter ADORES this movie!
Review: My father gave this video to my daughter when she was four, and she absolutely LOVES it! Sure, from an adult's standpoint it might be lacking, but for a young child, it has all the essential elements of a winner: an evil villian, a lovable hero, two young kids, colorful animation, some corny songs thrown in, and, of course, a happy ending! The plot is easy enough for a preschooler to follow, and Stanley, the good-hearted troll who wants to put his "green finger" to use in Central Park, is indeed, truly lovable! I recommend this movie for children, ages 3-8. They'll love it!

Summary: Hated it
Review: My opinon on this movie believes that it shouldn't be a movie. The character design was very blah- although I did enjoy Gnorga The evil Queen of the trolls. The character that got on my nerves the most was Gus. (The little, fussy kid that was spoiled rotten to the core.) I usually like watching movies where i enjoy the main character- but this movie only made me hate him. I was actually glad at the near end when something bad happens to him- too bad it didn't last. The songs didn't appeal to me either. The little kids I know aren't fans of Don Bluth- and obviously- neither am I. If I were recommend a Don Bluth, The Secret of Nimh was pretty well done. It could be that I saw the wrong Bluth movies, but i'm tellin ya this isn't a 5 star, 4 star, or 3 star movie. Show your kids, or watch a a movie worth your while! I recommend not wasting your money on this one.

Summary: Hey, it's cute.
Review: There seem to be several negative reviews. I admit, Don Bluth as made some crap in the past few years. Titan AE, Anastasia. But you have to admit, this wasn't all that bad. The fact of the matter is, it's for kids. Bluth's movies typically had content that was a quite intense for G-rated movies, this was probably just his break from that. I'll admit, this isn't the best movie ever made, but it did what it set out to do. It made a cute kid movie. And I think they did a good job. Recomended for people who just want to see all of Don Bluth's movies.

Summary: Cute!
Review: This is not one of the best animated cartoons out their nor is the story plot but when I was ages 8-11 this movie was da bomb. It's cute for the little audience because they aren't so critcial and don't judge movies the way we do. Buy for your children. Believe me they'll enjoy.
