Summary: Wonderful
Review: Even though I am growing up with 56k modems and LCD screens, my love for vintage computers is still alive. The movie shows what could happen if people got in over their head. Working with old BBS's and a external modem the main charater gets himself caught into more than he wished. From the first time I saw this movie, I have loved it. My interest in computers, nuclear physics, and vintage computers made this Number 1 in my book. I would recommend this to anyone who would like a good laugh, and enjoys computers.

Summary: Speech in DD 5.1 sounded hollow
Review: While I obviously like "WarGames" (wouldn't have watched it on DVD if I didn't), the DD 5.1 "upgrade" made many of the actors' voices sound hollow. However, the FX sounds, particularly during the final sequences, sounded much better than the original. I don't plan on purchasing the DVD version, but I might rent it again.

Review: a kid tries to play games on the internet and things didn't go so well. He acsedently got into the WHOPER(A big computer that has brains) and almost started a war. You have to watch the movie to find the rest of the movie out.

Summary: "Fail Safe," Eighties Style
Review: Filmed during the height of the Cold War and the Regan Era, Badham's "War Games" stands as a lasting tribute to common sense and sanity during a manic period in world history. Those who see the film soley as the quintessential hacker's movie just don't get it: Jason's observation that thermonuclear war was a "strange game... the best move is not to play" brought tears and cheers in the theaters, and maybe in Moscow too. The movie brought mutually assured destruction home, eighties style, just as "Dr. Strangelove" and "Fail Safe" did a generation earlier. This film will enjoy a place in Cold War history for generations to come.

Summary: ENTERTAINING ALBEIT SILLY
Review: Video game remake of the 1964 classic "Fail Safe" is in its own right thrilling at times. Matthew Broderick shines as the naive boyfriend who would rather cheat than do it right (although he'd probably be better at the latter). Thinking he has found a new list of games, he takes on NORAD and wins (or does he?). Most of the adults in this story are morons - which rings rather odd considering this film was made by adults. Like "Back to the Future", it's full of funny little jokes you'll probably miss the first time through.

Summary: An intelligent proposal
Review: A common boy who just like computers is looking for games and he hacked into government systems without knowing what he was doing and he started a computer generated thermonuclear war simultation that could end with the total annihilation of life on Earth. Despite of the fact that it has no stunning special effects but computer frame graphics, no violence, no explosions or pyrotechnics, it is a thrilling story that makes you feel inside the movie. This movie belongs to the Atari era but the concept is valid even today. The only difference is the technology available today. For those who like an intelligent movie, there it is. For those who belong to the Atari era, this is a good remembrance. For those who want to show children what a nuclear war may cause to humanity, this is a good tool. The message of the movie is clear. It is entertaining, thrilling and intelligent. Definitely a very good movie with a very good message.

Summary: THAT'LL SHOW'EM!
Review: He demonstates his love for her by changing her grades for the better using computers. He hides out in a Top Secret Nuclear storage facility (Dah!). They escape to Falcons Island and are returned to the storage facility to undue the damage they've done. Costly misadventure in truancy nearly results in annihialation of mankind!

Summary: Close to True Story
Review: Just FYI, this film came out about one year after two kids in Colorado really did hack into top secret defense files. What is really amazing is that they used around a 400 baud modem on a teletype computer (that means no monitor, just a printout off the printer). I happened to go to high school and take many of the same classes as these two boys, and was there when the MP's came and took the boys in for questioning. The film's version was much more action oriented, but the scary part is that the information was there, with very little security, ripe for the plucking. (P.S. The boys were not convicted (& possibly not even charged) with any crime in exchange for telling the government how they broke through the security wall.
