Review: I've seen this movie several dozen times. I remember the two-headed monster and the morphing special effects.What I remember the most, though, is two old ladies fighting. It's rather comical, if you think about it.

Summary: Willow and all time classic
Review: Oh yeah bring on the nostalgia! This movie really takes me back to my youth. It has always been one of my favourites and with very good reason. It's an amazing adventure and tells a great story. Stars Val Kilmer (Batman, Real Genius) and Warwick Davis (Return of the Jedi,The Leprechaun)If that wasn't good enough it's written by Star Wars creator and all round legend George Lucus and is directed by Ron Howard... how cool is that team! This is one movie you can watch over and over and never get sick of. The great thing is that with this Special Edition dvd finally being released you can finally see Willow in all it's glory with perfect picture and sound. Special features include: Commentary from Warwick Davis (Willow), A behind the scenes documentary, Visual effects featurette and more! I can't reccoment this great movie enough... check it out!

Review: I just read a copy of this week's entertainment weekly (with harry potter on the cover) and saw an ad for willow dvd and it says: "Before there was hobbits, before there was wizards, there was an unlikely hero named Willow" To anyone who likes Lord of the Rings, or respects the work of the late great tolkien, should be insulted by this ad. The film was released in 1988(!) by Lucasfilm, long after Lord of the Rings was written more than 50 years ago, so who really did come first? I'm really looking foward to the release of LOTR film, and it looks like LucasFilm is trying to sabatoge unknowing movie-goers into thinking Lord of the Rings was something created just recently, and that Lord of the Rings is untruthfully a rip off of "Willow" As a matter of fact, after watching willow, it becomes apparently obvious that the character was modeled from the hobbit Frodo, in lord of the rings. Even Entertainmet Weekly called Willow a cheap rip off of Lord of the Rings on their cover story of the upcoming epic movie. I'm sure the advert agency for Lucasfilm knew this when they made the ad, and this ad is an insult to the public. If anyone is equally disgusted, be sure to mention it in your amazon review. (...)

Summary: I never fully recovered from watching this.
Review: I can understand if you think of this positively in terms of "family entertainment". There are so few good movies, and even fewer that are appropriate for kids. That's where my understanding stops. If you've been sitting alongside your kids as they watch Pokemon, then this movie may seem positively Shakespearian by comparison. If you're looking for movies that are good for the whole family, rent "Babe" or "Searching for Bobby Fischer" or "Shrek", but for chrissakes, don't put yourself through this ordeal. Let the kids watch, just don't be near when this is underway. The beauty of the fantasy and sci-fi stuff I loved as a kid was that my tastes were so bad that it all seemed good, with the exception of Battlestar Galatica, which even to me as a second-grader seemed a little shoddy. When you grow older, you see these things again, and laugh. Perhaps the problem is that I saw this movie when I was in high school, expecting more. If this movie was as good as everyone else here said it was, it would still hold water, even at that age. Most of the stuff in these genres is done badly. This movie is an example of that. One of the other reviewers said they never met anyone who disliked this film; you've just heard from one. A dwarf hero is a fine idea, an atypical protagonist. But must we have one who whines and moans throughout the whole flick? George Lucas gave himself away here; that he no longer knew how to tell a good story (for another example of this, see "The Phantom Menace"). Ron Howard has had his hits and misses, and this one's a miss.

Summary: It's not the Phantom Menace, but it's every other story....
Review: Warwick Davis is Willow, the soft-hearted wanabe-wizard in an enchanted land who gets his chance to fight evil with good magic in this pre-Phantom Menace offering from Lucas. Though there's little in this film to remind you of Star Wars, the story will recall just about every fantasy you've ever heard of. Willow finds life complicated when he rescues a lost human baby and decides to bring the child back to her own kind. Assembling his relcutant neighbors into a search party, Willow sets off, not knowing that the child is sought by the wicked Queen Bavmorda (Jean Marsh). The queen/sorceress needs to banish the child from Earth in order to ensure her victory over a rebel faction (okay, so that sounds like Star Wars, but not that much). Soon, Willow hooks up with one of the rebel soldiers, the ominously named Madmartigan (Val Kilmer), and the two elude both Bavmorda's General Kael (played by Pat Roach, the guy who plays the loser in the obligatory slugfest in those "Raiders" movies) and the queen's daughter, the beautiful but determined Sorsha (Joanne Whalley). The special effects are good, if crude CGI, the story not very fleshed out, pretty derivative actually and the story uneven - sometimes it's a kid movie, and other times looks too violent for kids. The production values are high which is why it's such a painful botch - like "Krull", you can see what a beautiful movie it could have been if they gave it a real story to go ahead with those mystical mountains.

Summary: A Legendary Fantasy Film
Review: I can say truly that I have never met anyone who did not like the movie Willow. I've been a fan since the first time I saw it some 10+ years ago. The amazing scenery, the antics of Willow and the comedy of the brownies Rool and Franjean all blend well to make this a great film. An extra touch is an earlier role by Val Kilmer and fans of his will definately not be disappointed at seeing this film. I would recommend this film to anyone who even has the slightest interest in the fantasy genre. It is truly a classic. -Zilean

Summary: What an adventure!
Review: I absolutely love this movie. It's sort of a Moses meets the Wizard of Oz! I have always loved movies and books that take you on an adventure, and this one sure does. It carries the spirit of the classic good vs. evil. The special effects are impressive even by todays standards, which is saying alot considering the fact that this film was made in the eightys! I had seen Val Kilmer in other movies, but this is the one that made me a fan! The characters are endearing, which helps to gloss over some of the less experienced actors performances. The music that's played at the end of the movie is cool too! It's the essence of the film to me. It used to play on TV alot on the weekends, but I haven't seen it in so long. I can't wait to have a copy of my own, so that I can watch it with my 4 year old little guy--and eventually with my baby girl! Ron Howard tells a great story with this film...Thank you!

Summary: Willow Wonder
Review: For light family entertainment you can't do any better. This movie has a nice mixture of fantasy and comedy. If you enjoy movies like Princess Bride, Ladyhawke, or Dragonheart you will like this movie. It has a good cast, beautiful locations, and great special effects. Some very small children may find the two-headed dragon a bit scary, but what good fairy tale have you ever read or seen in a movie that didn't have something scary in it? Even the best Disney films for kids have something scary in them. I was raised on movies like "The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad" and "Jack the Giant Killer" and although the monsters were scary I loved them. But if you find it to scary just cover your eyes like most little kids. The rest of us will open ours in delight at all the wonderful swordplay, magic, and humor. Personally I thought the Brownies were scary with there Sguiggy humor and terrible French accent.

is awsome and brings willow to life.When Queen Bavmorda discovers
that Allura Dannon is the chosen one to complete her ultimate
spell she is determined to capture Allura Dannon , the child
is saved but is swept away to the village of willow afgard he
takes him to village counsel only to discover that the baby
is specal willow is chosen to protect the child from Bavmorda
,willow goes on a quest that is beyond anything he could imagine
along the way he meets Bavmardigan a great knight who is a bit
comical but is just as great as he says he is.They find a wizard
that will protect them from Bavmordas spells.They build an army
and risk there lives in a huge battle with an entire army of
Bavmorda's and a huge two headed fire breathing dragon is one
of the many things this movie offers.Incredible special effects
and among the actors is Val Kilmer , Warwick Davis and Joanne
Whalley it offers a making of featurette and trailers in this
worthwhile fantasy adventure great cinimatography.
