Summary: The Demise of Mother Earth
Review: So with a Sunday afternoon to fill I headed to the local multiplex in search of entertainment and escapism. In Titan AE I could not really have asked for a more entertaining two hours.The story of our beloved home planet being threatened by an advanced alien race is not a new idea. From the early days of Jules Verne and H.G. Wells telling stories about the demise of humanity we have been fascinated, in one form or another, with the images of this being the case. However, unlike Titan AE, I cannot remember it ever having been completed, let alone in such a vicious manner. The movie begins with a mass evacuation of Earth as the Drej attack and destroy the earth of years to come. The main focus is on a very young Cale and his father, being separated and leaving on different spaceships - the boy on a shuttle craft and the father onto the experimental spaceship Titan. This is the last they see of each other. Jump a few years into the future and the human race is a bedraggled and homeless species and Cale is growing into a mature (?) adult. Now enter a mysterious stranger and a beautiful girl into the equation and we find out that Cale holds the key to the fate of humanity. Yes, I know it all sounds a little formulaic but surprisingly I found myself getting quite involved with the characters. From this moment on we are taken on a visual feast of intergallactic fantasy, moving from space chases on to some nippy aerial flying from winged beasts and deep into unchartered territory for the inevitable showdown. All this with the added extra of some cute twists and turns in the plot which you don't often get in a movie aimed mainly at kids but will keep yours and their attention until the final credits. One thing I will say though is that some of the fight scenes are a little graphic (enter the anime comments) and younger members of the family may find them a little bit hard to bear. Personally, being 26, they did not bother me as much as seeing our beloved home planet become a floating mass of rubble in space. It actually had quite a profound affect on me and got me thinking about the time when the earth does eventually die. Obviously I will be long gone by then but it got me thinking about what a loss it would be. To finish, Titan AE is a film that all the family can enjoy (as long as you like sci-fi), and that is not something that can often be said nowadays; with the exception being a few disney classics. Excitement, romance, brilliant animation and a pretty good (if not a little routine), storyline mean that I had a good Sunday afternoon. I think that you will too.

Summary: A Visual Knockout
Review: A Visual Triumpth Titan A.E. Uses computer generated backrounds, Special effects and traditional animation to service this space saga. Creators Director Don Bluth and Gary Goldman make this a highly enjoyable space saga. That is for every one but this brought the 14 year old boy in me as it did for alot of people. After a tense opening sequence invloving the evil Drej blowing up earth we find young Cale voiced by Matt Damon finding jobs and making a meeger living on space stations spread through out the galaxy. Who must travel throughout to break the mystery behind his fathers final project the Titan. On the Journey he meets roughish captain played by Bill Pullman also a love interest with Akima voiced by Drew Barrymore. But one thing is in their way the Drej who want to find and destroy the Titan. Written by Ben Edlund,John August and Joss Whedon their is enough development the give that characters a dramatic depth to them. With great visuals. With great action scenes like a tense chase through mammoth ice crystals, A chase through a watery planet with hydrogen trees and a joy ride to catch angels. This keeps us glued to the screen with those scenes and if the story gets thin the stunning visuals make up for that. Even the great rock soundtrack and Greame Revells score add to the effectiveness of the movie. This movie would be for boys but it's not. It's star wars for a younger generation. That should not be missed. This stunning feature from Don Bluth proves that he is on solid ground. A great movie and is easily one of the best films of the year.

Review: The Earth is destroyed. Humanity fights for it's very survival among the stars. Weak story and even weaker voice acting make Titan A.E., a box office bomb, and another patheic attempt to catch the Star Trek audience.

Summary: Overall, entertaining eye candy
Review: Aw, what a bummer. The fate of the human race rests upon a young individual. Can he make it, and exterminate the enemy? Can he save us all? Of course...with the help of his trusty friends and love interest. But wait - who are the friends he can trust, and who is evilly scheming against his success? This is a well-made thriller type movie, with terrific animation. It has taken its cue from anime. The plot, however, is its biggest flaw, seemingly recycled. Throughout my viewing, it gave off an overly familiar vibe, making me feel as if I'd seen the movie before. Indeed, each person in the group I attended it with was able to predict at least one plot development. Incidentally, this retracts from the film's ability to hold interest. The story is not repetitive within itself; it feels like it is ripping off segments of its story from a number of other films, and though the titles are on the tip of my tongue, I can't pinpoint any names. Titan A.E.'s storyline holds no surprises. However, its excellent voice casting and superb graphics helped it along in terms of overall quality. Also, the sound quality is also to be commended. Watch this either in the theater or make sure you are using a high quality home entertainment system with good speakers, so as to not take away from the audio. Even with the predictable plot, it is a fun movie to watch, and worth the running time.

Summary: ONE OF THE BEST ANIMATED FILMS EVER
Review: I saw this movie the day it came out, so I didn't expect anything less. The animation and computer special effects look great together and there's tons of action. The characters are funny. The voice acting was good too but I could hardly recognize any of the voices. Anybody who is a fan of Star Wars or sci-fi movies will love this one.

Review: This was one of the best movies i've ever seen. The computer animation combined with cartoon animation create a unigue picture that breaks away from reality. The story line is thick and sci-fi. The music played in the film is realy cool. Definetly a film for sci-fi animation junkies.

Review: Titan A.E. is the coolest space movie I've seen since Star Wars. Not Phantom Menace. The old ones. Is it as good as Star Wars? Let me put it this way. Titan A.E. IS Star Wars. What George Lucas' original classic was to those whose saw it in 1977, this film is for those who see it today. I don't understand why so few went to see this movie. Probably because most teenagers today feel strange about seeing an "animated" film. They'd rather sit through the typically banal drek provided by films such as "Gone in 60 Seconds" or "Shaft". What they don't realize is that Titan A.E. is a movie made for teenagers. Not kids. This is a movie they would truly enjoy if they would just give it a chance. Masters of animation Don Bluth and Gary Goldman(An American Tail, The Land Before Time) know exactly what teenagers want to see, and they deliver. The special effects are as good or better than those in any big summer blockbuster, the soundtrack is awesome, the characters are interesting, and the movie is just a great viewing experience. If you want to see something you won't see elsewhere this summer, see Titan A.E. It is a film that is absolutely filled with imagination. This is a film you will want to see as many times as possible. I've seen it three times so far, and can't wait to see it again.

Summary: sad and touching
Review: I heard this movie was the best movie or cartoon movie of this year. But I still think this movie could have done better. There was not a lot of people there just a few with there kids. I was shoked I thought after all its grate reviews it would be packed but it wasent. And I thought the movie was grate it just dint live up to what I thought it would be. But if you are looking for a good movie that you and the kids can enjoy instead of the most movies kids cant see or the movies the parents dont want to see pick this one.

Summary: Don't go to the theater for it
Review: Titan A.E. -- how do I describe this movie? It wasn't terrible to watch, but not great either. The plot isn't all that new, and at points was positively predictable, which takes away SO much of the fun. The animation itself was fabulous, as were the voice talents of Matt Damon, who voiced Cale, the protagonist, and his love interest Akima, who was voiced by Drew Barrymore. The story takes place in the 31st century, when nearly all of humankind has been obliterated. Cale is a young man working, not really caring about whether he is human or not. A stranger who had been friends with his father comes to find him, and Cale finds out he is the last hope of the human race. He must find the Titan, his father's old ship, and inevitably comes across difficulties in first of all, finding it, and dealing with obstacles such as being imprisoned and backstabbed. Of course, it has a happy ending. The worst points of this movie are it's resemblances to Star Wars and other familiar movies, and the fact that throughout the entire movie, my friends and I were able to predict each upcoming event correctly. While sitting in the theater, it just seemed to go on for TOO LONG. However, the graphics and voicing are commended. I don't think teenagers or older would like this movie too much, but I also wouldn't exactly recommend it to younger viewers. It doesn't have the child-geared quality of Disney movies, and isn't sophisticated enough for teens. Anime fans may enjoy it purely for the drawing talent, but if this is the case, don't drag your non-anime loving friends along and make them waste both time and money.
