Rating: Summary: Four years of wonderful television Review: Should you buy this show if it's ever released on DVD? Since I have not seen anything better, but a lot worse, I'd say you should get it and find out if you like it, too. It has never won anything major, but after comparing it to those that have, you can only assume that all the awards don't mean quite as much as you're led to believe. However, I think "Lois & Clark" has a timeless quality and charm which is extremely rare in the world of television. In the long run, this will prove to be far more precious and important than the attention it did not get while still on the air. This show is suitable for children, though probably much more enjoyable to adult viewers. It sets the main focus on Lois and Clark's love story and mixes the romance with comedy, drama, action, fantasy and sci-fi elements. The result is engaging, funny, intelligent, touching and believable (yes, even though one third of the famous "love-triangle" is a flying superhero) entertainment with a lot of heart, great humor, smart stories and a good message. I must agree that one more year or some sort of appropriate conclusion would have been nice. The secret of "Lois & Clark"'s success is the incredibly strong cast. Teri Hatcher is in my opinion one of the most talented actresses in Hollywood, and Dean Cain - although he'd had very little acting experience when they started filming in 1993 - is an absolutely equal partner in this series. Both are undoubtedly perfect in their roles and they work beautifully together. If you like these actors and want to support them in some way, do what I do and also buy their other projects on DVD. Just keep in mind that they need to earn a living somehow if you should wonder why they took part in movies which either tend to underutilize their skills (e.g. "Fever", "Spy Kids", "Rat Race", "Running Mates") or are simply so bad that they aren't really worth watching at all ("Futuresport", "No Alibi", "Boa", "The Glow", "All Tied Up" etc.). It's a pity actually, but it's not their fault. And, of course, there are a couple of good and recommendable movies to be found in their filmographies as well, like "Best Men", "Since You've Been Gone", "Out Of Time", "2 Days In The Valley", to name just a few. Fortunately, "Lois & Clark" took full advantage of their talents, and they're both at the top of their form. While the entire cast and crew did a great job, it's clearly Teri Hatcher and Dean Cain's excellent performances that shine in the best episodes and save the day in the few that may be not quite so good. Not once during the four seasons did I get the impression to be looking at "blown-up" comic book characters. Instead, they succeeded in showing Lois Lane and Clark Kent as complex, real, down-to-earth, lovable human beings. I only hope someday soon they will no longer feel the need to publicly distance themselves from the characters they played on this show, and proudly accept / cherish the fact that they created something very special. To those who can hardly wait for the DVD release: Just try to remember that, sometimes, the reward for patience is perfect. Or even better. And who knows, maybe Warner will present a real treat with some nice bonus features like interviews and deleted scenes, for example. So why not give them a little more time to do it right. A fine show like "Lois & Clark" deserves that much. And a "Thank you for the memories".
Rating: Summary: Do you hear us? Review: Warner Bros. - Do you hear us? Are you listening? We are crying out, calling for the series - all seasons - to be released on DVD. All we have is our TV taped VHS copies, and as you know, they are wearing out fast, especially from us watching them so often. Lois & Clark, in my opinion, is one of the best television shows of the 90's. Wonder Woman is being released, so now, let's get Superman out there. OK? Thanks!
Rating: Summary: A view from Down under Review: I went on this site to find exactly this DVD series and found many other viewers are wanting this series on dvd just as much as i want to. I was a big fan when it came out here in australia and only have two videos of the 1st series. I think they just stopped producing or something, i dunno. But would like to see it come out on DVD because it is a good series and enjoyed it very much. I just hope i can watch it in the region it comes out on, but if not i would probley buy it no matter what.
Rating: Summary: When will this come out on DVD? Review: I agree with nearly every other review here. This was a fantastic show. The chemistry between the stars was very believable and to this day, I don't think I've seen two leads have more believable sexual tension/chemistry. The mix of sci-fi, drama and comedy kept me glued to my TV set from the first episode to the last. I just wish they could have had one more season on the air to resolve the cliffhanger with the baby. Warner Bros...if you are reading this, bring this out on DVD. There are tons of fans out there who would buy it.
Rating: Summary: Why not this one! Review: So many forgettable shows are being released on DVD, why not this one! This show was big for ABC in the 18-49 demographic ratings every Sunday night, at least until they treated it inappropriately. Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher had unbelievable chemistry from coworkers to friends to lovers. The backup roles were played really well and the plots were always witty and interesting. It was good TV back then. Why can't you guys make it a Great DVD for us!
Rating: Summary: One of my all time favorite shows Review: Lois & Clark is perhaps one of the best television shows that I have ever seen. I have been a Superman fan for a long time now, and this show brought the classic Superman saga back to life. Everything about this show was done the right way. First of all, the show itself featured a wonderful mix of action, comedy, and romance. This managed to satisfy all different types of people. Some fans would watch the show due to Superman and his powers, while others would watch the show to watch the romance between Clark and Lois play out. Lois & Clark features perhaps the best casting picks I have ever seen. Every actor chosen for the show was perfect for the part that they played. Dean Cain was able to turn both characters off and on very easily. He nailed the geeky and adorable charm of Clark Kent, and the strong hero persona of Superman. Teri Hatcher personified Lois Lane. She not only posessed the beauty of the character, but she also brought the attitude, spunk, and her talent for comedy as well. Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher probably had the best on screen chemistry that I have ever seen, and they really made the relationship between Clark and Lois believeable. Lane Smith was great as Perry White. He brought the tough as nails personality to the character, as well as the funny and light hearted side that would make us all laugh. Lane's obsession with Elvis Presley brought a lot of entertaining moments to the show. K Callan and Eddie Jones were outstanding as The Kents. They also had outstanding chemistry between them, and did a very good job supplying the support and love that Clark needed. My only gripe casting wise was Jimmy Olsen. The first season Jimmy was played by Michael Landes, who I felt nailed the role. However, from seasons 2-4 the show's producers wanted an actor that appealed to more of a younger audience and they went with Justin Whalin. While Justin did a good job, I always felt that Michael did a much better job, and should have remained in the cast. Overall, Lois & Clark is one of the best shows ever made in my opinion. All of the actors involved were unbelieveable, the effects used for Superman's powers were very well done, and the show featured a wonderul mix of action, comedy, and romance that made the show extremely well rounded and enjoyable overall. Ever since Smallville was put on the air, Lois and Clark and Smallville have battled to claim the title of best Superman show. While I highly enjoy Smallville, it will never come close to Lois and Clark in my opinion. If there was ever a show that deserved to be released on DVD, it is Lois and Clark. Frankly I am suprised that season 1 has not already been put out. The show continues to gain fans through reruns in syndication, and even Dean Cain himself has put in a request for the show's release on DVD.
Rating: Summary: Lois and Clark is Overdue Review: I started watching Lois and Clark in 2002 while TNT was airing the second season. Having grown up reading the comics, having seen the show from the '50s and the motion pictures, I didn't expect to be impressed by an updated version, but quickly found myself in love with the science-fiction, the action, and the chemistry of the stars. I buy DVDs; I have hundreds to include all available seasons of Sex and the City, Oz, and NYPD Blue. (...).
Rating: Summary: Superman has always been a big hit Review: Ever since Christopher Reeves, Superman has become so popular. Dean Cain was another who played Superman well, teamed up with Teri Hatcher they made one of the biggest shows on Primetime. The four seasons were a hit, I myself have not seen every episode but from what i see the DVD will become a best seller and fast. I request that they bring out DVD's for this series, it will be a good investment
Rating: Summary: Lois and Clark, The New Adventures of Superman Review: This is one show that I miss having new episodes to watch. It's been 10 years since the first show aired and I was hooked. I never missed a Sunday night at 7.00pm (central time). Even when I was home I taped the show so I'm lucky enough to have every episode (yes I mean all four years) on VHS. But I lived in Kansas and Missouri for the first 2 1/2 years and have interuptions about tornados and winter weather. And those pesky little commercials and other stuff I don't want. So having the DVD collection would be better then say...Ben and Jerry's while watching The Way We Were. I love the campy feel that doesn't get out of hand. The way Teri Hatcher and Dean Cain played off of each other. The sexual tension between Lois and Clark before they got married. And of course after they got married, well what can I say that wouldn't turn your face red? Even though they changed Jimmy's after the first season, (the first one brought a little edge to the character that Justin didn't have, but whose complaining, they both showed us a different side of Jimmy) all the actors did a wonderful job bringing this (then) 60 something year old hero to the small screen. And lets not forget John Shea's Lex Luther. One small note about the actors, a smart move by the producers was to get rid of Cat in the second season. Dean Cain brought a human element to the man of steele and made you wish you had him in your Smallville or Metropolis. WE WANT A DVD FOR ALL FOUR SEASONS! I figure if enough fans ask for it, we'll get it. I'm very picky about shows I buy on DVD. Very few have reached my DVD closet but this one will have a speacial place on my shelf.
Rating: Summary: Lois & Clark - a real TV phenomenon Review: I really don't know what it is that makes this show so awesome. If I had to give an answer at once, I'd say "everything"! Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher have been TV's hottest couple since 1993 and since then no one has been able to copy or even improve what they had been able to show their fans: real emotions. Or if these emotions were not real then we have witnessed an acting that has to be rewarded with an oscar! Whatever I'm saying. Just give us Lois & Clark on DVD. PLEASE!!
