Review: WOW!! What a great movie!! I can't wait to own it on DVD!! I have it on VHS and really enjoy it around the holidays! It is funny and touching and talks about the true meaning of Christmas. Kids need more movies like these. The music will stay with you and you'll be singing right along before you know it. Perfect family entertainment for all ages. I just can't tell you how wonderful it is and I highly recommend it to all. This is truly a Christmas favorite of mine and I'm sure it will be one of your too. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Summary: My most treasured holiday memory
Review: Three Christmas' ago, my sister sent me a copy of my all-time favorite holiday video, Emmett Otter's Jug-band Christmas, and I instantly burst into tears. I remember being a young child and waiting patiently every year for it ot air on HBO. I used to watch it (or at least try to) everytime it aired. I never thought I would see it again, until I received it as a Christmas gift 20 years later. Whenever I needed a little cheering up, I would play the video and sing along with the songs and I would feel better immediately. During a recent move, I lost my copy of the movie and am now waiting patiently for my new copy to be delivered. I can't imagine a Christmas without Emmett and Ma.

Review: This movie is a prime example of the great work we've all grown up with from Jim Henson. It's Christmas time in Frogtown Hollow, and Ma and Emmet Otter want to buy gifts for each other. Only problem is that money is very tight. Ma and Emmet (with his jug-band) enter a talent show, each hoping to buy something nice for the other with the prize money. Kermit takes us through the story as the narrator. This movie gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling. With a story that will capture your imagination and warm your heart, Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas is a must-see for the whole family!

Summary: DVD - about time!
Review: well, i can't really rate the dvd, because its not out, but i can rate the film...this is a timeless classic that to me and my family has become synonymous with the weather getting cold....i can't remember a christmas without it...this is the Muppet retelling of "the Gift of the Magi" (which i learned later in life), and with the genious of Jim Henson, another master graces this film - the music of paul Williams...paul williams has been a major influence to me...he also wrote the music for the Secret of Nimh, and some may recognize his voice as the 'Penguin' on the "Batman Animated Series"...he was recently homaged on an episode of "Dexter's Laboratory" as dexter's music teacher...the songs in Jugband Christmas are songs that will stay with you forever..."Grandma's Bathing suit", "Barbeque", "aint no Hole in the Washtub", "Brothers" and my favorite "When the river Meets the Sea"...even if you never saw this film in the 70's or 80's, its never too late to discover it, maybe for your kids to discover it too...I own both versions of the VHS...the one with more music and less dialog, and the one with more dialog and less music...it will be interresting to see if on this DVD they do one extended version with all the dialog and all the music...I am also curious to see if the quality is restored at all...
Either way, this is a movie to own.

Summary: A tradition in my family!
Review: This is the most touching addaptation of the "Gift of the Magi" that I have ever seen. Masterfully created by Jim Henson (and featuring Kermit the Frog), this story will touch everyone who sees it with it's characters, messages, music and humor. It is visually STUNNING and truly brings the spirit of Christmas home.

Summary: "How I Wish I Could Have A Jug-Band Christmas"
Review: This is a favorite of mine and also my children. My children are grown now, but we continue to hope that we see this movie during the Christmas season. It brings such warm feelings and memories to all of us. There is a simplicity to the movie and the lovely characaters. Their feelings for each other and the unselfishness with which Emmett and his mother give their gifts always amazes me. I can only wish that some of these feelings have "rubbed" off on my children.

Review: Ever since first seeing this on HBO as a child, it permanently became a Christmas tradition. And though in my twenties now, I still cannot go without watching it every Christmas. As was the case with a previous reviewer, I was deeply disappointed after buying Emmet Otter on video, to find it edited from the original. However, the story possesses a wonderful example of what really counts during the holiday: being with those you care about. Truly a Henson classic, not to be overlooked.

Summary: When you think you're crazy
Review: Me and my brothers all loved this movie when we were little but everytime we mentioned it to someone they looked at us like we were on drugs because they had never seen it.(benefit of HBO back when) So eventually after asking just about everyone and noone had seen it we thought we were crazy. But here it is and it's one of my favorite christmas specials of all time. The puppeteering was great the acting was great the music was great I still love this movie (Riverbottom nightmare band rules!!)
