Summary: Another voice
Review: Let me add my voice to the chorus of people who were disappointed by the video/DVD version of Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas. There may have been two versions of it floating around out there, but most of us seem to remember the same one. Since THAT version isn't available, I would reccomend this DVD; it may not be what I remember (or wanted!) but it's still entertaining.

Summary: Okay, so I'm not going crazy
Review: Thank goodness other viewers also noticed the 3 big edits in this video/DVD. Why did they edit it at all? Better yet, why can I seem to remember the original broadcast that I saw almost 20 years ago but can't remember simple day-to-day things?!?!?! I guess it's just because this movie is that good. It's a great story that has characters you'll remember forever.

Summary: The Love of Family and Friends
Review: This is a classic family tale that children of all ages will enjoy. Most of all, the story of Emett and his family and friends teaches children that Christmas is more than getting or giving the gift that you want. Christmas is about having and sharing the love of family and friends. The DVD didn't include any real cool extras but it is definetly worth having in your family DVD collection.

Summary: A Christmas Classic!
Review: My children and I watched Emmett and the gang when they first appeared on HBO years ago. We taped the show on our old VCR and my son and daughter played it over and over again...they just couldn't get enough of it and neither could I! The music is wonderful, the characters are amazing and it has a great message of love to people of all ages. Now that my kids are grown, we still watch "Emmett Otter's Jug-Band Christmas" every holiday season. It has become a wonderful, heart-warming tradition in our family and I know your family will love it, too.

Summary: It Gets Better With Time
Review: I, too, saw this show when it first came on TV. Not being very adept with the VCR, we managed to get it taped and I played it over and over. Then the tape finally gave way. My son gave me the new retail tape sometime back and I had forgotten about it, until, this past September when our 2 year old grandson was visiting from another state and we went through the videos and "Otter" was found. He called the video "Otter", so who's to argue with him. He had us play that video over and over and over again. I told him I would send a new video to his home when he leaves. Well folks, I ordered it and my big mistake was opting for standard shipping. All day, every day he kept asking him Mommy (our daughter) where "Otter" was and, of course, driving her crazy. So here we go with generation #3, loving "Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas" and it's just as wonderful as it was the first time it was heard and seen.

Summary: Xmas spirit on DVD
Review: I'm an old poop who always has trouble getting into the xmas spirit, so every year about thanksgiving, I plant myself in front of the boob-tube and watch what I consider are the very best xmas movies ever made. This is one of them.I'm not big on muppets, or puppets of any kind, but in this case, I'm happy to make an exception. This movie has a great sweetness about it without becoming sickeningly so. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs a little boost to get into the season.

Summary: A Holiday Favorite
Review: I am 22 years old and I cannot remember a Christmas without Emmet Otter and his friends. This is a holiday classic and I'd rank it right up there with the Grinch as far as being a treasured childhood memory of Christmas time. As a child I found Emmet's adventure funny and now as an adult I find it heartwarming and not at all grating, as some children's fare can be. It's a great show for the entire family.
I am so happy that this wonderful show has come to DVD! I actually know people who grew up without ever seeing it...the horror, the horror...and now I fully intend to make them watch it!
If you have kids or if you just love a good old fashioned sappy holiday story this DVD is well worth your money!

Summary: The Best Unknown Muppets Gem
Review: Although the New released version of this movie is missing a few minor details, Emmet Otter is still the best Chrismas movie to date. A beatiful story and valuable lesson to be shared through generations. This is an unknown muppet movie, that should get more credit then it's be givin. Buy it, you will not regret, and i can guarantee it will be your favorite christmas movie to watch many times during the holiday season. As tradition, i watch it on Thanksgiving evening to usher in the Christmas Season.
