Review: when you're a Muppet fan, ESPECIALLY a Jim Henson fan in general, the original DOES matter! this is an amazing show, but since a large majority (I would think) of people buying it saw it on HBO so many years ago, how about giving them what they PAID FOR?

Review: This is probably one of the best Muppet Specials ever. Believe it or not, this was a very experimental program in which Jim Henson tried out new forms of puppetry. A true must have for any true Muppet fan!

Review: I grew up watching this movie and think I bought it more for me than the kids.
It was just a little too slow for my boys who are 2 and 4 but they watched it a little.
I love the movie and it brings back memories for me and I rate it up there with Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory!

Review: This movie has been a favorite of our family's since it first came out. It is a lovely story with wonderful music. Now that my children have children of their own, we have had to purchase more copies as it is a "must watch" every year.

Review: I'm 27 years old and I remember the first time I saw this show on HBO. I always enjoyed Jim Hensons muppets and Fraggle Rock. Emmet Otters Jug-Band Christmas is as good as any show shown during this time of year. LOL...I like the River Bottom Nightmare Band...lol Anyway, I caught it this year for the first time since i was a kid and the feeling is still there...

Summary: Disappointment!
Review: Before buying this DVD I read the reviews and all of them seemed to be real good (4 or 5 stars). Now I see quite a few reviews much lower and I must agree. I wasted my money on this purchase. The quality of this effort reminds me of the early days of TV when puppet shows and cooking shows were about all you could call entertainment. Although the show was "cute" it was not anywhere near the quality of other Muppet features. If you want a good, really good Muppet Christmas flick then I would recommend "The Muppet Christmas Carol".

Summary: Not the original, that's for sure
Review: While this version of the video/DVD is almost as good as the original, it simply isn't the same. My sister and I recently watched our 20 year old taped version of the movie on Christmas Day, and it was great to be able to quote lines the way we remembered them. She has the new VHS also, and I don't understand why the changed that were made were done in the first place. I will buy this when the original is released.

Summary: Disappointed in Editing
Review: I was going to buy this finally-released video, but when I read the reviews and found all of them said the same thing - that the original Emmet Otter had been edited from what we remember it as being, I backed out of it. I, too, have an old copy taped off air about 20 years ago, and that (original) version will just have to suffice for a few more years. When Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas is released in it's original form, then I will gladly pay to add it to my collection.

Summary: ONE OF the Greatest Christmas Traditions of All Time!
Review: Our family has watched this little show every year since it first aired. My grandmother recorded it the first time it aired on HBO, and the cup has been passed to me to see to it that the family watches Emmet every year! Sometimes I am despised for this, but I take my role seriously, and I never cease to adore this show. It has it all: love, laughter, heartache, healing, togetherness, bitterness, overcoming, and most of all - the true essence of Christmas> Forgiveness, Love, Family. This is a real jewel; so what if they changed a couple of scenes, the magic of this little movie remains. If you've never seen it; you're missing quite a treat!!
