Summary: Wonderful Christmas show for the whole family
Review: I taped the original ABC telecast of this special as something to come home to that night after we'd gone to visit friends. My whole family loved the entire show and asked me not to erase it. I still have that original telecast with all the original commercials, though the tape is getting a little jumpy in places. However, the new release is exciting for us and was given to my wife last year as one of her Christmas presents. We've watched Emmett many times through the years and never fail to be charmed and entertained by it. The songs are great. I really do think it's the best thing Henson ever did. It's timeless.

Review: My younger brother and I watched this on HBO every chance we had, sometimes twice in one day. Watching it became a Christmas tradition in our house. To this day, I sing along to all the tunes sung by Emmet, the Jug Band, Emmet's mother...and I'm 32 years old! For years, they had stopped showing it on TV, but now that I've found it on video, I can watch it whenever I want...even in the middle of Summer!! Jim Henson is the greatest!

Review: I'm 30 yrs. old and I have not yet tired of this charming movie. I saw it when it was first shown on HBO and have continued to watch it every chance i've had. It's a great sing-a-long movie with valuable lessons for children as well as adults of all ages. A must if you haven't seen it.

Review: My grown children have been looking for this video for years as a reminder of past, happy holidays. Their dad found it in another state and gave it to me last Christmas. It brought tears to everyone's eyes. We now have it for everyone to enjoy, including our grandchildren.

Review: A wonderful, imaginative re-telling of O. Henry's "The Gift of the Magi", Jim Henson's classic Christmas tale is filled with music and the TRUE spirit of Christmas! Emmet Otter needs money to buy a Christmas present for his mother. The prize money at the local talent show would do it-- but it means putting a hole in the wash-tub-- mother's only source of income. Is it worth the risk? A must-have addition to any video library!

Summary: A Classic Movie--How Could Someone Edit It?
Review: I'm 24 years old and I remember watching this wonderful movie on TV every Christmas. Emmet Otter was a holiday tradition in my family alongside the Grinch and It's a Wonderful Life. Then it disappeared for a few years until it aired on Nickelodeon in the early 90s. Luckily a cousin shared my love of Emmet and his friends, and she taped it. I was delighted to find a new copy available on Amazon.com earlier this year. It arrived today, and my excitement was soon replaced with disappointment when I realized I had been sent an edited version of the film. At three distinct parts in the story there was dialogue missing. This appalled me. How could someone edit a classic? I realize this isn't Amazon.com's fault, but I thought consumers should know that they aren't buying the original. I will continue to watch my favorite Christmas movie, even if it doesn't match perfectly with the version in my head.

Review: This movie is pure magic, Jim Henson once again displays his movie making genius (It's a shame we had to lose him). When I was a little girl I would watch this movie every Christmas with my beloved grandfather. After he passed I was desperate to find this movie to remember our wonderful times together, luckily it has just been recently released on video. I would recommend this movie to everyone young or old. The story in this video is one we should all try to live by and the songs are heartfelt and timeless. This is sure to be a wonderful Christmas tradition for anyone.
