Rating: Summary: Worst movie I've ever seen Review: Whenever I see the cat in the hat's face, I get pissed off. I mean, just look at his face, it looks stupid! If I saw Mike Myers wearing that costume, I'd have to punch him in the face, 'cause it pisses me off so much. I don't hate that character just because of his face. I hate him also because he is a douchebag. He's not funny, he's irritating as hell. I also hate thing 1 and thing 2. It's so annoying watching those things run around like crazy. I know it's supposed to be entertaining for children, but the things act like they're on crack or something. Do you really want your kids to look up to crackheads? I didn't think so. If you want a movie that IS good for the whole family, check out Finding Nemo. It may be a kiddie movie, but it's not annoying, plus Nemo and his father actually have some intelligence.
Rating: Summary: I PAID 20 BUCKS FOR A COMMERCIAL Review: Visually interesting is pretty much all I can say for this DVD. I use "interesting" because I did find the production design to be creative, although the colors did tend to be a bit overpowering at times (It seemed as though Crayola vomited on my TV screen at points in the movie). Mike Myers was apparently stuck in Dr. Evil mode during his performance, as it felt at times like I was watching the character from "Austin Powers" dressed as a creepy looking cat. I also had a problem with some of the humor (innuendos abound, parents!)...this WAS supposed to be a "FAMILY" movie, Hollywood, and I found it a bit disturbing that one of the special features, the outtakes, actually had "bleeped" profanity, including the "F-Word", which was uttered by Sean Hayes and bleeped out...you still know what was said, and I was very offended that it was even included on this disc for kids to see. The "Things" (Thing 1 & Thing 2) are so creepy looking that I would have been scared if I was a kid! Universal even manages to throw a commercial in your face for the Universal Studios Theme Park halfway thru the movie! Thank goodness the movie was as short as it was...if you leave out the opening & ending credits, it's stretching to say it lasts about an hour and 10 minutes. Any more and I would have needed some headache medicine...the movie is so frantic and hyper, plus the colors and music, it'll drive you over the edge! Save your $20 and go to the local video game arcade...it's quieter and less flashy than this movie !!!!
Rating: Summary: hillarios Review: ok some jokes were dirty but thts wut mike myers is 4 so all protesters go to hell great movie i wood have gave it a billion stars
Rating: Summary: Not the classic story Review: I must say I was dissapointed in this movie. Dr.Seuss books were my absolute favorites growing up- they probably were the reason I started to read. The movie had nothing to do with the story. The jokes were crude- but everything is now- the crude humor adult shows subject us too has now taken over children's shows. Mike Myers is wonderful in the role and the kids are very good too - but the austin powers type humor did not belong in this movie.
Rating: Summary: DVD Cheapness? Review: hey i just bought this movie for my little sister. i open the case and theres not so much as even a booklet inside, just the disc. i bought it brand new so what gives? anyone else missin the booklet or did the store screw me? anyways, the movie itself is ok. nothing to go crazy about but it does have some moments.
Rating: Summary: Why do I have to pay for an advertisement? Review: I won't tell you how the movie is but I'll tell you I think its horrible that we're not able to watch the movie without first being forced to watch ads for other movies. At least with a VCR tape you could fast forward or at the movies you can get some popcorn while you want. This DVD won't let you just put in the movie and play it. I'm not someone who would download or use illegal copies of movies but if the studios continue creating DVD's with no escape options I might change.
Rating: Summary: not as bad as some have made it sound! Review: ok.... I will admit that some of the jokes could have been saved for another movie. some of the jokes where not so right for a "Dr. Seuss" movie...but other than that i thought it was great...very funny.
Rating: Summary: Waste of time Review: A stupid and vulgar movie that is a disservice to Dr. Seuss.
Rating: Summary: What a mockery of Seuss' classic story Review: I wasn't much impressed with Jim Carrey's "Grinch," but I had higher hopes for this one. You've got great source material (which is admittedly tough to stretch to an hour and a half), two up-and-coming young actors in Dakota Fanning and Spencer Breslin, and of course, the very, very funny Mike Myers (sporting a great makeup job) as the mischievous Cat. Seemed like it couldn't fail, right? Well... What a dreadful disappointment. Myers tries hard, and the kids are fun, but this film is just one tired cliche after another. It's silly and inane and insulting rather than funny. With very little to work with (the book was what? 2 dozen pages or so?) Myers has to improvise a great deal to fill in the gaps between set pieces. Sometimes he's funny, especially when he's referencing some of his prior work (Dr. Evil, Wayne's World) and parodying pop-culture figures. Problem is, some kids--even pop-culture savvy ones--may not catch some of his broad cultural references (though adults will) and that may leave them a little bored or restless. It's obvious when the material begins to run thin, because we are suddenly treated to potty humor and mild innuendo (nothing really bad, but is it really necessary?) and bombastic physical comedy--though the "rocket car" scenes were funny in an out-of-control, Roadrunner/Coyote kind of way. But far too many of the gags misfire, and the film seems to assume once too often that "manic and frenzied" equals "funny." Nope. The whimsy and humor of the original story is completely subverted here. What a waste of time, money, and talent. Want to entertain your kids with Dr. Seuss? Read the book instead.
Rating: Summary: DID I JUST PAY 20 BUCKS FOR THIS JUNK!! Review: HMM...... I was expecting another funny Dr. Suess movie like Jim Carrey's THE GRINCH. This movie was ((AWFUL)). I really was about 40 minutes into the story wondering where could this story be going. It had some funny jokes that I don't really think are for kids. More adult type humor. Dr. Suess's books are awesome but, I really don't recommend this movie because I don't feel that he would have enjoyed where hollywood has taken it.
