Rating: Summary: What One Will It Be Review: I don't like this movie, but I don't hate it. I don't know if I'll buy it, or I won't buy it. It's one of those kind of movies. It has funny parts, and bad parts. I agree with alot of people, it's nothing like the book. Here are three negitive comments on this movie 1.It's nothing like the book 2.It's no wear near as good as real live version of The Grinch 3.It's not for kids If you want to let your kids watch this, it's better if the little ones watch How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Now that's a good hearted family comedy. Jim Carrey is great in that. Mike Myer's is good in this too, but not as good as Jim Carrey. Anyway, it's hard to decide if you want to buy this film, but rent it first if you haven't seen it, then make your decision. It may be too crude for kids under 5. Bad parts in this are like when the cat step on a garden ho and it wacks him in the face and he says "Dirty ho." Also when he pretends to be the pinyada and he gets wacked in the balls and then it shows a girl cat swinging on a swing and another part is when he's going a cooking show and the cat cuts of his own tail and say "SON OF A B!TCH." See what I mean. You decide if you want your younger kids to see it. 5/10
Rating: Summary: Hate or like it. A few might love it. Review: If you re a huge fan of Dr. Seuss and love his books, you will probably hate this movie as it is supposedely a disgrace to the original book. Well, I have never read any of Dr. Seuss' books as in the country where I grew up no one knew who Dr. Seuss was. We had our own equivalents for children books. I watched the movie becase it features an actor that I like (not love), Mike Myers and has some unique visuals. It is a silly movie, I agree, but I enjoyed it, along with its silly jokes (often targeted at adults) and incredible, surreal environment. So, hardcore fans of Dr. Seus.. keep away from the movie, or better rent/borrow it before you decide to buy. It might ruin your/your child's memories of the book. If you like Mike Myers (I do) you might like this movie just for his unique personality. If you hate him (like my wife does), stay away. 5 stars for the visuals 3 stars for the book adaptation ultimately 5 stars to balance those HIGHLY subjective opinions of people who love the book very much. The movie deserves at least 2 or 3 stars, not one. 1 star should perhaps go to all those movies presented on Mystery Science Theatre 2000 and such. It is VERY easy to say "the worst movie ever" and I see a lot of such labels on Amazon. Be honest, haven't you seen a movie that is worse than "cat in the hat", or any movie labeled as "WORST EVER" for that matter?
Rating: Summary: The more I think about it, the more I hate it Review: This movie is sickening! The name "The Cat in the Hat," for most of us, not only brings back memories but is also extremely innocent. Well, this movie is neither (poor Dr. Seus)! I only watched the first part of it, but I couldn't stand it for longer than that. Hollywood is playing off of adults' attraction to Hummers, sex, and "funny" jokes (which are frankly getting very old) to sell this movie, and not only that, they're advertising it as a children's movie! If everyone grew up on movies like this we'd live in a sadder world than the one we know now. Seriously, avoid this movie at all costs, and keep your kid(s) away from it. It is not worth your money, time, or support. If my copy wasn't a rental I'd have thrown it out the window.
Rating: Summary: A Mike Myers classic! Review: It sickens me when people criticize this movie because it was "too crude for children" or "nothing like the book." I love this DVD!!! Mike Myers is my favorite actor and he was absolutely hilarious in this movie. I bought the DVD the day it came out and I've watched it many times since then. Each time, it manages to make me laugh. I think it's one of those rare movies you don't see anymore: A children's book twisted into a wonderful film that suits many different age levels.
Rating: Summary: Do not waste your money Review: Before I saw this movie, I was excited about it too. We bought the DVD as my 5-year-old daughter's birthday present. It turned out to be a biggest disappointment. The acting was not funny but violent. Most of the humor are not suitable for children. We also found the humiliation towards the asian people (or government) unnecessary. What I really want to know is when they made this movie, do they have children in mind? If you love Dr. Seuss, read the book. Don't waste money on the movie. Don't even rent it. It will do more harm to your kids than good.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable and Entertaining! Review: I have to admit, after reading the last couple of bad reviews posted to Amazon, I had to crack up. Some of the complaints were legitimate. Mike Meyers is accumulating so many "aliases" that you are starting to see some cross-over in characters. But overall, very entertaining. The first time it shows the Cat's face, you kind of think, "oh...my..._____!" But you have to keep the story Cat In The Hat in mind. They were bizarre stories, crazy characters, back then in the day. I loved Thing 1 and Thing 2. Thought they were hilarious. Good choice of actors and everything tied together well with lots of "eye candy". Thumbs up!
Rating: Summary: Why oh why Review: I was so excited about the movie "The Cat in the Hat". Then I saw it. It was pitiful. I hated Mike Myers performance. Yes, his acting was fine but, was it really nessisary to put all the potty humer in a kids movie (big kids like me included)? I like Austin Powers but, this is Dr. Seus!!! I love Dr. Seus. I was so disappointed. Hollywood, please make kids movies that are kids movies. I will never ever buy this movie. Don't even rent it!!
Rating: Summary: Just Plain Stupid Review: The acting was bad, the script was worse. The jokes were not funny crude or not. The special effects in any Ed Wood movie were better. If you want to see a desicration of a classic children's book this is the movie for you. If you want a laugh or two look elsewhere. This was one of the stupidest movies I have ever seen, and yes I have seen Gigli!!!!
Rating: Summary: Definitely not for kids.... Review: Yes, it was flashy and bright....yes, it did have a few inuendos that weren't quite for kids....and yes, the characters may have looked a little "awkward" in their get-ups...but hey....it's CAT IN THE HAT...it's DR. SEUSS for crying out loud! I must admit, I have never been a real fan of CAT IN THE HAT....even in book form. Even though I didn't like it, I decided to try the movie out based upon word of mouth...and it wasn't all that bad. Alec Baldwin didn't really fit in this movie....I just couldn't see him being in something family-oriented. Other than that, it was pretty funny....and better than people give it credit for being. The highlights of the film have to be S.L.O.W. and the awesome rave club scene! If you just can't part with $20, then go ahead and spend $4 and rent this one. It probably could have been a lot better....but don't dismiss it because of the negative things you have heard about it...you'll be missing out on a cute little movie.
Rating: Summary: Review for the MOVIE, not the DVD!!!!! Review: Cat in the Hat is great! It is a hilarious movie that makes you laugh the whole way through. People say,"Oh no, Cat in the Hat is too crude for kids, it isn't the original story." Oh just shut up! This movie is hilarious! It is rated PG for MILD crude humor. I think a kid can handle MILD crude humor. As for the people who say this sucks because it isn't the original Cat in the Hat, think of how much shorter and lamer this movie would be if it were the original. It is one of my favorite movies and I highly recommend it to anyone that can handle MILD crude humor.
