Summary: AMAZING SET! - a kinder. teacher (and mom of 3.5 yr old)
Review: This is a WONDERFUL set for anyone who loves children's literature. I had rented the Chicka Chicka DVD months ago when my kindergarten class was studying the story. I later bought the Chicka Chicka video - no contest - about 1/2 as many stories.

We just got the set as a gift and I'm claiming it as my gift as much as my son's. So far I've watched the Maurice Sendak DVD and the Harold DVD - as well as having the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom DVD memorized. It is also even better than advertised - for example, on the Maurice Sendak DVD there are other books such as "Chicken Soup with Rice" which are not listed as they are part of a collection-type set within the DVD.

I HIGHLY recommend this for any child, teacher, parent, librarian. I think any child from toddler up would enjoy these. Even older kids will love seeing their old favorites on DVD.

**There is one story on the Sendak DVD - "In the Night Kitchen" that I will NOT show at school. It includes a naked little boy. While there is nothing offensive about it, and I have showed it to my son, it would cause a major disturbance with a classroom group.

Summary: Toddler Approved
Review: You're going to need an 11-DVD changer. My 3-year-old commands all five slots of our system with DVDs from this collection, and I still have to get up to change among others from the Scholastic Vido Collection.

And my toddler likes having the original books from which the stories were taken. The watching and reading really reinforce each other. He really loves it when he gets a book from a story that he's only seen on DVD -- it's like magic.

I was a little worried about my guy's acceptance of animated stories that he knew first from books, but my concerns were unfounded. The animations and narrations are first rate, and it's nice that there's a variety of animation styles. And a lot of the "extras" are on par with the better known titles that probably drew your original interest.
