Summary: Get this one for your little girl
Review: Sure, it's great that all the kids are reading Harry Potter, but there are other books out there just as good. A Little Princess is one, although girls will by far like it better than boys. It's a riches-to-rags-to riches story, about a little girl who loses everything and ends up enduring abuse you don't often see outside of a Charles Dickens novel. Yet she bears it all with a stiff upper lip. The movie, with Shirley Temple, is a good one, too, but the plot is a little different than the novel. Buy it for your little girl, or better yet, read it to her when she's at the age for story-telling.

Summary: One of My All-time Favorites
Review: The appeal of "A Little Princess" is only partly due to its plot. What child could resist the almost fairytale-like rags-to-riches, riches-to-rags twists in this novel? It has all the elements needed to be a "growing up book" read over and over by children and remembered fondly by adults.At the beginning, Sara Crewe is a little girl so rich that she has her own French maid, a pony, and a rug that was once a live tiger (yes, the head is still on), all while attending boarding school. This school is run by Miss Minchin, one of the nastiest, yet still realistic, adult characters in children's fiction. While Sara is still rich, Miss Minchin is nothing but nice to her. After Sara loses her money, however, Miss Minchin shows her true colors and makes Sara work as a scullery maid in the school. To come through unhardened, Sara turns to faithful friends, to hope, and to her imagination. Another reason that this novel is so well loved is simply Sara's character. Pardon this sweeping generalization, but I think that there isn't a girl alive who doesn't wish to be like Sara, if only a teeny, tiny bit. Sara is beautiful, intelligent, and so imaginative that she can make an entire schoolroom listen breathlessly to one of her yarns. She doesn't climb trees or skip stones . . . but no character is perfect. A word of warning: Don't expect boarding school sketches worthy of "What Katy Did at School" by Susan Coolidge, "Little Men" by Louisa May Alcott, or even "And Both Were Young" by Madeleine L'Engle. Practically the entire story takes place in Sara's mind and she seems to block out the less rosy aspects of her environment. (Despite what anyone says, I'll warrant that she's a bit self-centered, too.) In the same way, Burnett refuses to let anything into this fictional world that hasn't been romanticized or idealized first. One thing this book has taught me is that there is actually such a thing as "too much imagination." If children become too dreamy-eyed after reading this book, get them into sports immediately. Yet not even I can disparage the loving attention to detail by a writer who, very much like her protagonist, delighted in imagining the most romantic things and revealing them to an enraptured audience. Naturally, my favorite descriptions are those of Sara's pretty things. Even as a child, I could envision everything that Frances Hogdson Burnett described: streetlights shining through heavy London fog, a doll with a miniature opera glass, child-sized hats with ostrich plumes, golden sunsets seen from attic windows, furniture come all the way from India . . . "A Little Princess" truly is a gateway to a whole other world. A few dips into it now and then ought to be fine.

Summary: GREAT family movie!
Review: This is one of my favorite movies. So well-acted and well-made. Leisel Matthews is a very good actress, and she does a great job at portraying young Sara Crewe, the little girl who is sent to a strict boarding school by her gentle and loving father, who must go serve in the war. When Captain Crewe (Sara's father) is believed to have been killed in battle, Sara is devastated, but she decides to have as much optimism as she can. Though the coldhearted mistress of the school, Miss Minchin, forces Sara to become a servant, Sara's spirit does not die. Miss Minchin takes away all of Sara's pretty things and attempts to take her "princess" title away, but Sara will never give up belief that she and all other girls are princesses, mainly because her beloved father has told her so. Sara develops a close bond with Becky, who is also a servant at the school. Throughout the movie, Sara's strength and her kind nature will enchant everyone who watches the film. It is truly an uplifting story. It's my favorite version of "the little princess," and it definitely deserves 5 stars. I'd give it 10 if I could.

Summary: A Great Book
Review: This is a book about a 7 year old girl named Sara Crewe, who has to leave her palace in India, and go to an all-girl boarding school. This book has showed me love, honor and friendship, when Sara has to give up her grand toys, clothes, and name, for a servant girl. When Sara loses everything, all she has left is her friends. This book has showed me that you should always be ready for unexpected things to happen, and to never give up on anything.

Review: This is by far one of my favorite movies. A definte classic and this one is just as good as the Shirley Temple version (although you should DEFINETLY check that one out as well)I recommend it for anyone, no matter what age. A truly heart warming story, check it out!!!

Review: This delightful book is a classic, up there with "Anne Of Green Gables" and " The Secret Garden." It takes you to the world of Sarah Crewe. As if you were a student at the school and like you were the little begger that sarah helps. This is one of the greatest books I have read and I am looking foward to reading again.

Summary: Good movie!!!
Review: I rated this movie 4 stars, because some parts were sad. (I feel sad) This movie is about a girl, named Sara Crewe. Sara is English, and her mother had died when she was just born. Sara and her father were very rich. Sara and her father went to live in India, until one day, Sara's father has to fight the war. Sara Crewe is sent to a girl's seminary, which is owned by Miss Minchin, a cold, hard, and ugly woman, and her kind sister, Miss Amelia. Sara Crewe immediately does not like the seminary the moment she had walked inside. Miss Minchin gives Sara and her father sometime to say good bye. Her father finally goes, and Sara is left alone.
The next day, Sara is late for breakfast. Downstairs, all the girls are talking about her. A girl named Lavinia is very jealous and does not like Sara and talks bad things about Sara to her friends who always followed her around. The other girls do not like Lavinia because she was so proud and always looking down her nose. Sara goes well with all the lessons. One day, Sara has a birthday party, while a man named Mr. Barrow comes to the seminary to tell Miss Minchin that Sara's father had died in the war with no money to pay Miss Minchin. Miss Minchin is furious and commands the birthday party to be stopped AT ONCE. Miss Minchin also makes Sara a servant girl. However, Sara is wearing a gold necklace that had her parent's pictures on them. Miss Minchin takes it away from her, saying that the seminary did not allow jewelry. However, Sara's friends find the necklace and give it Sara. Sara then is caught again by Miss Minchin and she calls the police. Sara runs away next door and the police go there also. In the house next door, her father had turned out to be alive, but had lost his memory. Sara runs to him, but he pulls away, thinking that she was some other girl and let the police get her. Before Sara gets into the police car, Sara's father gets back his memory and runs for Sara. Sara then goes back to India. Then Sara says good bye to all her friends, and suddenly, she realizes that Lavinia was looking at her. Sara goes to her. They stare at each other for a while, then Lavinia all of a sudden hugs her. Lavinia from that on becomes a better person. This movie has a happy ending, but some parts of the movie are very sad. This is a movie you should watch!

Summary: Judge me as you will, but I loved this movie
Review: I am on winter break from college and originally saw this movie because I was too lazy to get up and change the channel, but it ended up being one of the best things that has ever happened. Perhaps I was meant to not get up and change the channel, because this movie was amazing. I'll be straight, fully aware of the very real threat of endless peer ridicule, this movie is the first time I almost shed a tear while watching a movie since I saw 'My Girl' when I was much younger. I suggest purchasing two copies of this movie in case one of them gets scratched when you want to watch it. I also suggest getting some Haagan Daaz to intensify the movie watching experience. Review: This movie was amazing. I was at home on winter break from college when I saw it on TV. I watched it because I had nothing to do, but I have to say it was one of the best movies ever. I'll admit it, it is the first time since I was a really small boy and saw 'my girl' that I have almost shed a tear while watching a movie. I suggest purchasing two copies of this movie in case one copy becomes scratched when you want to watch it. I also suggest purchasing Haagan Daaz ice cream to intensify the movie watching experience.
