Summary: 1947?
Review: ...All the great routines are there including the tiesalesman. The Dice game " clubhouse" and my favorite..lendme 40 dollars' " stop running your self into debt"......"I,m not running your pushing" and then when Lou says to Bud...take the last bill....Abbott says" " I dont want that kind of money"? hilarious stuff.

Nat Pendelton does his famous slow burn. Jane Frazzee is Jane Frazee. Buck Privates came home in 1947! END

Summary: Abbott & Costello fans will love this
Review: Abbott & Costello were just starting their movie careers when this military comedy was made, and their energy and freshness are obvious in this. The film was a huge hit in theaters and includes many of Bud and Lou's best routines. The romantic subplot, mandatory in 1941, isn't so compelling today, but fortunately Bud and Lou are never offscreen for long. Good songs by The Andrews Sisters, and a dynamite jitterbug finale by "24 champion boogie-woogie dancers" (credited that way in the movie). If you like Abbott & Costello and have never seen this, grab it. Worth watching again and again.

Summary: ABBOTT & COSTELLO'S FIRST STARRING FILM
Review: Abbott & Costello's 2nd film and the first to give them star billing. The duo play "SLICKER SMITH" and "HERBIE BROWN" two sidewalk necktie salesmen who ACCIDENTLLY enlist in the Army to avoid getting arrested. When they try to evade a patrolman, they decide to hide in a VERY LONG of people outside a movie theatre. That's what the place WAS until the government turned into an Army Recruiting Station. In the end the boys, thinking that they were taking part in a ZANY raffle, are AMAZED to learn that they ACTUALLY enlisted in the Army. The two FUNNIEST highlights in this classic comedy are: (1) "THE DICE GAME". On the train carrying the new recruits to basic training camp, Lou walks in on Bud and his pals playing dice. Costello admits to being a novice in playing the game, so Abbott DECIDES to take ADVANTAGE of the situtation. After explaining to his partner the rules of the game, Abbott lets Lou join in. But throughout the entire game Costello SURPRISES Abbott with his knowledge of the gambling jargon such as "FADE THAT" and "LET IT RIDE". (2) THE DRILL ROUTINE. This is a VERY HILARIOUS scene, in which Bud TRIES to instruct his partner on carrying his rifle and learning how to march. (Pay CLOSE attention to the soldier on next to Lou, as he goes to GREAT LENGTHS to keep from laughing).

Summary: Abbott and Costello meet the Andrew Sisters.
Review: Fun, World War II period piece. A & C in one of their best but the Andrew Sisters and the great swing music are what really set this apart. Just to hear and see "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" and "Apple Blosson Time" is enough to recommend this movie. And don't miss the killer jitter-bug scene toward the end of the movie. It rocks! (Any of the so-called swing kids out there, worthy of their high-rise drapes, should already have this movie in their collection.) Also, don't miss Shemp Howard, sans Moe and Larry, as the mess cook.

Summary: Buck Up
Review: In order to avoid arrest, A&C enlist in the army and get tangled in a romantic subplot involving a millionaire, his former valet, and a camp hostess. Silly fun takes place on the eve of World War II, with Abbott and Costello scoring laughs and the Andrews Sisters singing "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" and "Apple Blossom Time." Funny, despite the silly romance.

Summary: Running and Pushing??
Review: It is my own reflections that you cannot judge the A and C Films in a singular way. If you watch just one of their best it looses its impact, rather, I suggest that you catch three at a time in this way you can fall into their brand of absurd comedy.

I was hooked as a kid and guess what , their films have more legs than most of the comedy giants of the past..for sure..

Jane Frazee is here ,along with the likes of Lee Bowman and even Shemp Howard..> The Andrews Sisters provie a bit of pace without slowing it all down too much..and these DVD transfers are fine..all proving once again that there has never been a better "straight " man than the peerless Bud Abbott..
