Rating: Summary: Best Animted Film Ever Review: I first saw this a few days ago, and being 13, and a Beatles fan, i Loved it! There were alot of puns, and jokes, and i just loved it! Have to see it.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Restoration -- (with one small complaint) Review: As others have said, the sound on this dvd is incredible. The picture quality as well. One little quibble -- although a few have mentioned the removal of "Baby You're A Rich Man", the few seconds missing are of little importance. Much more damaging are the OTHER few minutes of missing footage. The changes start at Paul's line "Beatles to battle!", (a different shot and voice-over), through some very "groovy" deleted battle footage, and continue up to Ringo's rescueing of Jeremy (which is now missing some dialog). Although the "Hey Bulldog" sequence is a delight, the movie actually flows better in the more common version, with a punchier climax. Solution? Why didn't they include BOTH versions on the disc? Either that, or just include "Hey Bulldog" as a bonus? However, beyond that complaint, this is a fantasic dvd for fab-four fanatics.
Rating: Summary: YEAY BEATLES Review: Anything by the Fab Four has to be good... well, except the Magical Mystery Tour... but Yellow Sub lives up to the ledgend
Rating: Summary: Great Music Review: When I was about 3 Years old, my parents took me to see the Beatles at Griffith Park (in L.A., CA.). The were giving a concert in the park and giving away the yellow Submarine album. We took several copies. I remember this day like it was yesterday. I would play the album everyday. I'm 33 years old now and I still think the Beatles are the BEST.
Rating: Summary: Maybe I didn't do enough bong hits! Review: I was hoping this was better than I remebered, but it really wasn't... the story is lousy, it's slow and disjointed, and there are only a few good songs... which admittedly sound great, but if you're gonna remaster Beatle songs, why start with filler like "Only A Northern Song"? When they remaster Revolver I'll be knocking people down to get a copy, but this just didn't do it for me. The Beatles weren't fully engaged in this project, and it shows.
Rating: Summary: Colorful, funny and just plain enjoyable! Review: The more I watch this video the more I enjoy it. The folks at MGM/UA did a great job of remastering this animation classic and in watching it, you can't help but be taken in by the vitality of the film. Even if you weren't born when psychadelia was in fashion, you can still appreciate the vibrant and dynamic color schemes; not to mention some great Beatles classics! If you happen to like puns, you'll also enjoy the witty exchanges between the FAB 4 (e.g., "Look! A school of whales...Wonder what school they go to?...Maybe the University of Wales.) This a fun film for all ages and it's a definite must for your video collection!
Rating: Summary: A delight!! Review: Good enough that we have a delightful film to enjoy and keep forever - but the packaging itself is a delight in itself! Animated, musical menus, the best lead-in credits I've seen on any DVD...wonderful. Just wonderful.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST SOUNDING DVD EVER!!!!!!!! Review: WOW! Me, a child of 15 just bought the Yellow Submarine DVD, and sat down in my little basement, and listened to it on my little 5.1 system. WOW! This has to be the best mixed soundtrack, and sound on a DVD, EVER! WOW! The songs were mixed great, and the color, and animation were top notch! I would recommend thism to any Beatles fan, and even some non-beatles fans. Devin
Rating: Summary: Brilliant! A great animation gem! Review: They've done an AWESOME job at restoring this masterpeice. Really worthy getting on DVD. Brilliant!
Rating: Summary: Spectacular Review: The restoration of this film is simply splendid. Colors are true and vibrant, and the 5.1 remix of the soundtrack is stunning. Although you're really not supposed to comment on what other people have said here, I do need to correct one of the earlier comments made below: "Baby You're a Rich Man" was not cut from the film -- the entire song was never played in the film, only a small part of it as SP Lonely Hearts Club Band is released from their bubble--and it is still there, right where it's supposed to be! Also, the "Mod Odyssey" documentary is indeed included on the disc.
