Summary: Excessive navigation mars an otherwise perfect product.
Review: This is my least favorite of the first 3 PPG DVDs. The cartoons are first rate, and it was fun to see the two bonus cartoons before they aired on Cartoon Network, but some of the features that make the disc fun right out of the box become tedious when you just want to sit down and watch some cartoons.

The first two PPG discs had a "play all" option, which simply played all 10 PPG cartoons on the disc with a single push of a button. On top of that, the discs defaulted to running in "play all" mode after sitting on the menu screen for about 2 minutes.

"The Mane Event" has a "play all" option, but it only plays the six cartoons accessible from the main menu--the bonus cartoons (and the two "commentary" 'toons) are not included in the sequence: the viewer has to navigate the menus whenever he wants to watch them.

Now, the menus themselves are fun, no question (as where Mojo Jojo trudges across his laboratory grousing about slowpoke users not making menu selections), but the very things that excite and amuse you when you first begin to play with the DVD become monotonous when you just want to watch.

Many of the bonus features you find in Virtual Townsville are great to watch, but don't stand up to repeated viewing. And as much as I loved watching episodes with comments from the Mayor and Mojo Jojo ("Hah hah! I knew it all along."), the cartoons stand better on their own.

Obviously, I still love this disc, or I wouldn't have given it 5 stars. In addition, I was pleased to see such an ambitious package put together to present them--it shows that the people at Cartoon Network really care about their product and their viewers.

Summary: WoW!!!
Review: What can I say about this DVD? The cartoons are a great selection, that's for sure. I liked seeing the two episodes that were never released on television, they were wonderful. I gave that five stars. But man, I wish I could give the DVD seven stars. The design blew my mine. It was definately the COOLEST most cheerful DVD I've ever come across. You start out on the main page. You can watch all cartoons, select a cartoon, select language, or adventure in Townsvill. I went straight to adventure in Townsville and I was having fun just looking over Townsville! You then click on a building (Pokie Oaks, Mojo JoJo's, Townsville broadcasting system, ETC) and the screen will close up into the building so you're inside. Each room has motion inside and sound and each room has different special features that you would expect to find in that specific room. Not only is the cartoon great but now it's Jam Packed with special features. I bought this for my little brother, but I love it more than he does!(He likes it too)
