Summary: Could've Been Better
Review: "The Transformers" is a great animated series from the '80s, but this DVD ain't great. They can fit 6 or 7 episodes on a DVD, but they put only 3. You're paying the price of this DVD plus tax for only a little over one hour of TF. "The Ultimate Doom" is a great 3-part episode, but that's not a good enough reason to buy this disc. Save your money and wait for the Season 1 box set.

Summary: One of the best Transformers episodes!
Review: "The Ultimate Doom" is one of the best episodes of the Transformers, and perhaps the #1 best episode from the first season. A must-have for even casual Transformers fans.

I'm not quite sure what this whole "Villains" thing is about, or why Cyclonus is pictured on the cover - he won't show up for another season and a half!

Summary: Awesome Multi Part TF Episode!
Review: All I have to say is that this is my favorite multi part episode of Transformers. This DVD contains the 3 episodes of "The Ultimate Doom." Being from season 1, the animation quality is much better than the other seasons. The story arc is about Dr. Arkeville, a mad scientist with ambitions to take over the world. He teams up with Megatron to develop a mind control device on humans. Megatron then uses the Space Bridge to bring Cybertron into Earth orbit. Now that Cybertron is in Earth orbit, the Autobots must battle the natural disasters taking place all over the planet. Optimus Prime finally launches a mission to send Spike, and others to Cybertron. Will the Autobots be successful? Will they be able to defeat Megatron? Will the Earth be destroyed? watch and see! :) Good stuff!

Summary: This Transformers Villians DVD is a keeper!!!!
Review: Attually thats not Galvatron on the front cover. It's Cyclonus! I own this DVD. It may not be the most perfect Transformers dvd. But I'm one satisfied customer! I have been searching for Transformers videos for years. And now the wait is over. Cause Rhino brought them back! I thank 'em dearly for that! Rhino pls. keep in mind that you could put more than 3 episodes on a dvd. A dvd disc has enough space for atleast seven episodes. That way the Trans Fans don't have to buy so many separate dvds. That way it doesn't take in too much space & we don't have change the dvds constantly either. Well, you guys are getting better and better all the time. Hopefully, you guys will release 7 episodes on each dvd ,the next time. First, Rhino released Transformers on VHS. and now on DVD! It doesn't get any better than this!!!!

Summary: Where's the beef?
Review: Don't get me wrong, I'm just as happy as the next guy that TF episodes are finally on DVD. But 3 episodes per DVD?? C'mon, considering the total lack of extras, you could fit 6 episodes on this DVD.

If it wasnt for Amazon.com's great 'below list price' discount, I'd pass...

Look out, the Rhino is (over)charging! Heheh

Summary: Can't wait for more!
Review: First of all thats Cyclonus on the cover which is still weird considering he was season three. I am looking forward to more DVDS like this. I also have the VHS tapes and the image quality is far superior in the DVDS, everything is brighter and crisper, I love the Transformers and this DVD brought out one of the best episodes, plus its season one with the original (and best) introduction.

Summary: A Misleading Dissapointment
Review: Firstly, the two star review is because of the DVD itself, not the material contained on it. The episodes are from the first season of the original cartoon series, which I loved then and still do. I enjoyed reliving my childhood, but was not overwhelmed. The addition of Scourge on the cover (a character which did not appear until much later) made me expect espisodes that took place after the movie, when the characters and stories were much more indepth and intriguing. The remastering to DVD is laughable. Nothing on this particular DVD is superior to what a VHS version would contain. I can not see myself watching this DVD again, while I have watched Rhino's DVD of ' The Movie many times.

Summary: Buy the other sets instead
Review: I didn't buy this, but I'd recommend that if you want the Ultimate Doom episodes, plus the episodes "Countdown to Extinction" (where Starscream attempts to take over control of the Decepticons), "A Plague of Insecticons" (pretty self-explanatory) and "Heavy Metal War" (the first appearance of the Constructicons/Devastator), buy the Collector's edition Season 1, Volume 3. There's very little in the way of features, mainly just support for Dolby Digital and scene selection(which any decent DVD has anyway). Or you could just go with the complete boxed set-I only bought Volume 3 as it contained my personal favorite episodes.

Summary: Deception-cons Attack!
Review: It goes without saying that The Transformers was/is one of the greatest animated television shows in history, so it's wonderful to finally see some episodes on DVD. However, this presentation by Rhino is extremely disappointing for a number of reasons. First off, the picture quality is not great, to put it mildly. The print is very dirty, with black specks and lines popping up frequently. Maybe this is to be expected considering the show's age, but I had hoped for more in the way of restoraion. Secondly, why is Cyclonus pictured on the package? These episodes are from the *first* season, before Cyclonus had even been created! Also, the menu design shown on the package looks nothing like the one on the disc. And worst of all, although the package boasts a running time of "+/- 150 minutes," the featureless disc inside contains just 3 episodes at 22 minutes each! Kind of misleading...to say the least. Suppose Rhino someday releases every episode of the Transformers on DVD, with only 3 episodes per disc, and at this price per disc. How many discs will we have on our shelves and how broke will we be? I don't know about you, but I don't have that much space or money!
