Rating: Summary: this DVD should have stayed in its tomb Review: Since there don't seem to be any reviews of this film, I thought I'd toss my hat in the ring. I am a bit of an on-the-sidelines Naschy fan, having seen Fury of the Wolfman on late night broadcast television about 30 years ago (and they must have broadcast it without previewing it... the next time I saw it on TV, about 10 years later, cuts had been made; the "peeping-lycanthrope" / bedroom scene was completely gone). Naschy's work definitely is an acquired taste. However, this film has as much to do with Naschy as Plan 9 From Outer Space has to do with Bela Lugosi. Naschy has a few cameo appearances, doing what you would expect. This film, on the other hand, is a new production, but unfortunately was shot with soap opera type techniques. It has none of the campy aspects of Naschy's other films that make them appealing (when the mood strikes you). The writing and acting are awful, promising plot twists go undeveloped, and the special effects are worse than what could be accomplished by a kid with a portable digicam. The whole thing has an unplanned, disorganized, impromptu feel to it. Even compared to other Naschy efforts. It was so awful that I had to stop watching about 3/4 of the way through. Maybe someday I'll pick it up again just to finish it. Doubt it, though. A complete waste of time, don't even bother renting it.
