Review: It's about time The Lost Boys was given the special edition treatment. As a fan of 80's movies and movies in general, I am kind of getting tired of purchasing a movie on DVD only to have a new "special edition" come along not much later down the road. The Lost Boys 2 DVD special edition set is one of those rare sets that is worth the extra re-purchase if you already bought the original. Not only is the film remastered, this time you have commentary from the director, Joel Schumaker, and a new featurette with the two Coreys' (Corey Haim and Corey Feldman), along with the deleted scenes. It's always cool to see the scenes that ended up on the cutting room floor.

When watching The Lost Boys in 2004, some of the scenes seem quite camp and unscary at times, but this is one of the coolest vampire movies ever, most in part to the young cast which includes Jason Patrick, Keifer Sutherland, Corey Haim, Jamie Gertz, and Corey Feldman. Don't miss Alex Winter (of Bill and Ted Fame) as the vampire Marco. This was a horror film with a good storyline, "Whose the head vampire?" This is a film that is still entertaining to watch. A+ for movie, A for extras. It would have been nice to get Keifer Sutherland to give a little commentary but what were the odds of that? My brother and I love this film so much we know all the lines, "I tried to make you immortal." "You tried to make me a killer!!!!"

Summary: A Must for Vampire Fans
Review: Kiefer Sutherland and Jason Patric hit big with Joel Schumacher's vampire cult classic from the 80's. Already proving himself as a talent for the cocky bad-boy, Sutherland delivers a solid performance as the teenage leader of the vampires. And Jason Patric in his second and arguably best film plays the role of Michael. Michael, his mother, and younger brother are the new family in a town full of vampires. Michael falls for Star(Jamie Gertz), a female vampire. In turn, Sutherland's David instead of killing Michael changes him into a vampire. The story revolves around Michael struggling with becoming fully vampire and his younger brother's quest to save him with help from Edgar and Alan Frog, the former played by Corey Feldman, who are self-proclaimed vampire hunters. While some may consider the script and acting a bit juvenille and quirky, this movie captures the attention of any vampire fan and holds it until the end. I have thouroghly enjoyed this movie for several years and fully recommend adding it to your collection.

Summary: Sleep All Day; Party All Night. It's Fun To Be A Vampire.
Review: Let's just get started by saying that this one is a vampire movie with a difference. In other words, do not expect to see something like "Bram Stoker's Dracula" or "Interview with a vampire". "The Lost Boys" is just a purely entertaining teen horror flick. The plot is quite simple: mother & 2 sons move to Santa Clara to start a new life. Michael, the oldest son, begins to hang out with a group of guys who later turn out to be vampires. Weird things begin to happen to poor Mike until, guess what?, he becomes a vampire himself. To be totally honest, this movie is NOT frightening at all, so if you enjoy watching horror movies just because you like to get scared I don't advice you to watch this. As a matter of fact, there are also various points of humour throughout the movie (as when the 3 boys enter a chapel, steal some holy water and put it in their water-pistols; an excellent and alternative source of ammunition to fight vampires). In addition, the soundtrack is quite literally brilliant; particularly the songs "Cry Little Sister" by Sisters Of Mercy and The Doors' "People are strange". The huge Jim Morrison poster in the vampires's cave was also a cool idea. I really can't imagine anything more cool than a bunch of rocker vampires :). Anyways, if you're looking for horror,humour, and rock and roll embodied in 1 movie; just watch this!

Review: Lost Boys was funny, gory, and one of the best! It was creepy and energetic. I just loved it, and the TwoDisc SpecialEdition will show you even more behind this thriller. Great omvie for anybody who is either fan of The Frogg or a fan of vampire flicks

Summary: The Lost Boys... Not Lost on Star Power!
Review: THE LOST BOYS is probably one of the hippest vampire movies in film history. It's a shame that the title mirrors the current situation of two of its major stars. Corey Haim's and Corey Feldman's acting careers have somewhat stalled due to personal problems brought on by the Hollywood lifestyle. Apart from that, this is a pretty entertaining film by Joel Schumaker (who ruined the Batman franchise). A divorced Mom, Lucy (Diane Wiest) moves to Santa Carla, murder capital of the world (according to graffitti on a billboard...it's actually Santa Cruz,CA), with her two teenage sons Micheal and Sam (Jason Patric and Corey Haim). She finds a job...and they find vampires. A group of young vampires headed by David (Kiefer Sutherland) want to recruit David and try to initiate him to the undead. Sam finds out and with the help of the Frog Brothers (Corey Feldman, Jamison Newlander) a couple of comic book fanboys-vampire experts/busters, go out to destroy the vampire menace. Some great action sequences, humor, gore, blood, and a few classic lines ("Holy ****!, It's the attack of Eddie Munster!"), its a fine film on many levels. Great cast of newcomers and veterans including Barnard Hughes as the hip, pot smoking Grandpa, Edward Herrmann as Max, the head vampire, and Jamie Gertz as a would be vampiress. Look for a pre-BILL AND TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE, Alex Winter as one of the teen vampires.

Review: THE LOST BOYS successfully blends vampires with the innocuous Eighties. Sure, there's some blood, gore, fangs, and fright, but ultimately the viewer is overwhelmed by all the spiked, superficial big hair. There's more hair spray than horror to this little jewel, but that's alright: THE LOST BOYS still delivers a gruesome good time, augmented by some jolly good laughs.

Santa Carla, California. A beach, an ocean, a free-spirited community, a teen haven. Bingo: Vampire paradise. Into this swirling netherworld comes a divorced mother and her two sons; it doesn't take long (like, the first night) before a grinning, snarling pack of teen vamps comes calling. One of the sons becomes "tainted"; the other enlists the help of a couple of goober brothers to reverse the curse. The movie rushes like a Cyndi Lauper MTV video to its aggressive conclusion, and all I can say after watching the carnage and destruction is I'm darned glad I'm not a plumber.

Jason Patric and Corey Haim are fine and divine as the troubled brothers. Kiefer Sutherland can be spooky simply reading a gingerbread recipe, so he shines as the ringleader of the teen vampire brood. Dianne West and Edward Herrmann provide boring adult roles, while crusty Barnard Hughes, a most eccentric grandpa, is given the film's absolute best line. THE LOST BOYS is good Eighties stuff--a great visual treat with a kicker musical soundtrack that will leave you twisting your hair. . .and wondering where that hair spray is.

THIS IS POSSIBLY THE BEST VAMPIRE MOVIE WITH QUEEN OF THE DAMNED CLOSE BEHIND. THE ENDING WAS BRILLIANT AND THE SONG THAT PLAYED IN THE CLOSING CREDITS WAS HAUNTING. FOR ALL THOSE WHO DONT KNOW THE SONG. IT'S PEOPLE ARE STRANGE AND IT'S BY ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN. OK SO THE MOVIE WASNT FROM MY ERA SINCE I'M 17 AND I DIDNT EXPECT TO LIKE IT BUT MY COUSIN BOUGHT OVER THE DVD AND I WAS SHOCKED BY HOW GOOD IT WAS. KEIFER SUTHERLAND IN HIS ONLY GOOD MOVIE FROM THAT ERA SINCE PROMISED LAND STUNK. I'D BE EXTREMELY HAPPY IF THEY RE RELEASED IT INTO THEATERS WITH DELETED FOOTAGE. I WOULD GO SEE IT AS MANY TIMES AS I COULD AND THEN WHEN THE DVD CAME OUT I'D BUY IT SINCE IT'S MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIE. OK SO NOW TO THE STORY MIKE IS THE NEW KID IN TOWN AND HE FALLS INTO THE WRONG CROWD. THE VAMPIRE CROWD. THE REASON HE MOVED INTO TOWN IS BECAUSE HIS FAMILY WAS MOVING IN WITH THIER GRANDPA. HIS MOTHER SUPERBLY PLAYED BY DIANE WEIST SUSPECTS HES WITH THE WRONG CROWD AND SO DOES EVERYONE ELSE. SO RENT THIS AND ENJOY A TRULY GOOD MOVIE. YOU WONT BE UPSET. YOU WILL ACTUALLY BE HAPPY THAT YOU RENTED IT. I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH WATCHING IT.

Summary: Almost got it right
Review: There are several glaring flaws in this film, most notably a script that is not very credible (Would real people -- or vampires -- say these things in these situations?) and a strong tendency to try so hard to be creepy and cool that it ends up foolish. This film reminds me of those high school kids who try so hard to impress everyone that they end up annoying everyone.


So, then, why did I give it even three stars? Because it does quite a few things right. Kiefer Sutherland is ominous, creepy, and scarily imposing as the lead vampire, and Corey (Why did you have to self-destruct when you had so much talent?) Haim is very believable as the not-cool kid willing to do most anything to be cool, while still not forgetting right versus wrong. Also, the movie definitely creates a mood or atmosphere of dark coolness, creepiness, and alternative weirdness.


Most people will likely love or hate this movie; if you "buy" the coolness, you'll love it, but otherwise, you'll hate it. I enjoyed seeing it, but did not like it as much the second time around, when I got more analytical about it.

Review: This 1987 cult classic is a fun and wild good time. A mother and her two sons(Dianne Wiest, Jason Patric, Corey Haim), move to a coastal California town to live with the mom's Dad(Barnard Hughes). The boys soon discover that this picturesque little town isn't all it seems to be. Kiefer Sutherland is the leader of a group of vampires terrorizing the town. Big brother Michael(Patric)gets involved with them, thanks to a beautiful young woman he falls for(Jami Gertz). Then enters Corey Feldman. He plays a guy who knows the town's deadly secret and tries to help out the other Corey. Still with me?. Good. This was the first collaboration between the two Corey's, who would go on to do a number of films together. I'm sure their huge teenybopper status helped this film succeed at the box office. Edward Herrmann, who is a great actor, seems horribly miscast here. The rest of the cast is all very good. This isn't a heavy film that is meant to be taken seriously. It's a campy, comic book-ish type rollercoaster ride that is just supposed to be fun. And fun it definitley is. There are pinches of black comedy sprinkled throughout as well. Jason Patric delivers his best performance. Come to think of it, I can't really think of another Jason Patric performance besides the awful "Speed 2". Kiefer Sutherland rules the show tho. He's very good. All in all, this is fun entertainment not to be taken too seriously. Just have fun.

Review: This is the movie that started it all for me. Vampires into rock n roll, and the lead actor looking like Jim Morrison who can ask for anything more. I loved how the culture of the 80's was brought out in this classic horror film. The Big Hair, the tight pants, the rock n roll, and vampires all in one, who could ask for more. I highly recommend this movie for anyone who wants a scare.
