Summary: IF YOU HAVEN'T RENTED WICKER MAN YET, THERE IS STILL HOPE
Review: This movie ought to be shown in film school as a warning to the students. It is basically a compilation of anything that can possibly go wrong in a film. If there is a theatre in hell, this is the movie that is playing. I am strongly urging you not to rent or buy this movie. No one (no matter what their sins) deserves to watch such a poorly made movie.

Summary: Just an unpleasant film!
Review: I rented this one at the video store, and when it was over I wished I hadn't. Basically, it's just an island where the druids still reign, unbeknownst to the rest of England. They still practice human sacrifice. It started out promising, but in the end I wondered why they even bothered. A waste of my time.

Summary: excellent concept but amateurish execution
Review: This is quite a brave movie in many respects as it deals with taboo subjects in quite a matter of fact way. It is certainly not a horror movie in the traditional sense but is quite disturbing. I'd advise anyone to watch it but more out of curiosity than entertainment value. Generally I found the production quite amateurish. In particular the pacing of the movie is pretty terrible. The whole thing has the feel of a student production made with home cine equipment. However it is very haunting and there are a number of scenes that are so surreal that they seem impossible to forget. The mother breastfeeding in the graveyard and the Mayday procession for example. A number of people have applauded the soundtrack but I can't imagine why. To be fair the tracks are suitably "earthy" and reflect the pagan/folk subject matter of the movie but they rarely seem to suit the visual mood of the scenes in my opinion, very period though. Definitely watch it but have a bottle of wine to hand and lodge your toung firmly in your cheek.

Summary: Beautiful don't you think?
Review: I was introduced to "The Wicker Man" and "Zardoz" both in the same sitting. I can only say..."Beautiful"

Summary: A brilliant film..
Review: The Wicker Man is one of my favourite films ever. Brilliant story, great acting (in particular Christopher Lee) and a great soundtrack. Re the reviewer who mentioned the soundtrack - this has recently been released in the UK, not sure about elsewhere. The only unfortunate thing about the film is the cut versions in the UK - the video I have is only 87mins although I have seen a longer one...

Summary: sexy, scary, sexy, scary...
Review: About a year ago I bought this video and every so often I put it on...Last night I visited Wicker Man again and noticed the film gets better every time. I wish there was a soundtrack for this...also of note...I would say this movie has one of the hottest scenes...shown tastefully...watch for the pounding on the wall during the second night in the inn.

Summary: Happy to find this Movie!!
Review: I rented this movie from looking at the cover-- hoping for just the slightest truth about modern paganism. I was very pleased to see how a whole community was depicted! Totally impressed. Can't wait to buy it!!!

Summary: Shocking, well-acted, insightful.
Review: Whenever I recommend this movie to a friend, and they actually find a copy to watch, I get one of two reactions. Most find it a very disturbing film. And it is. Others like Britt Eklund prancing in the nude. No question, you need to have a well-honed sense of the absurd, a deep skepticism of modern society, and an deep philosophical interest in life to enjoy this film. If you do, it is richly rewarding, intense, and, ultimately, haunting. I highly recommend it.

Summary: This is my favorite film
Review: This movie gives the viewer a vacation to another time and place. The location for the film and the sound are truly enjoyable. The dramatic ending truly forces a personal reflection on what is good and bad. The film demonstrates the conflict when two separate belief systems collide.

Summary: Thought-provoking, gorgeous, and perfectly wonderful!
Review: Beautiful, erotic, and compelling, this film encourages viewers to identify and sympathize with the Pagan villagers against the rude and offensive "Christian copper" (played by Edward Woodward) until the shocking denouement makes you question your own ideas about goodness, morality, and sacrifice. I use this film as a tool in teaching teenagers about morality and its flexible nature; it is a thought-provoking work. Christopher Lee mentioned in an interview that this was his favorite film...it's my favorite, too.
