Summary: I LOVED THIS MOVIE..................
Review: I thought this movie was incredible. I enjoyed it because they were the kind of people I hang with and I enjoyed getting to watch how there life was. Eric Mabius is just gorgeous and I personally think that this isn't total Goth but could have been headed in that direction. I really liked this movie. If anyone disagrees with me, then can I ask.....What is wrong with you?

Summary: Two thumbs up
Review: In my opinion this movie is exactly what you would expect it to be. Sure it is vulgar, sure there are a lot of explicits throughout the movie and much drug use, but it is what it is. Scott's charachter is coming to grips with his friends death and looking to fit in and rebel where ever he can. It is a dark movie not suited for children, but if this is the type of movie that you enjoy and go into it knowing that it is dark, vulgar and morbid, and that is what you want to see at the moment then you get what you rented. No this is not what teens are like, nor is TX Chainsaw real either, the point is just sit back and either enjoy it or hate it, but I give it 4 out of 5 stars. It is what it is.

Summary: Black Circle Boys
Review: Judging by the cover, I expected a ridiculous cheezfest along the lines of The Craft. But there is no supernatural nonsense here. 1997's Black Circle Boys is a surprisingly effective drama about a champion swimmer, Scott Bairstow, who moves with his dysfunctional family to another town and falls in with a small gang of wannabe Satanists led by Eric Mabius (The Crow: Resurrection). The gang draws Bairstow deeper and deeper into its murderous world of drugs and dime-store occultism. To his credit, first-time director Matthew Carnahan manages to give this low-budget film a rather sinister and serious edge despite its tabloid origins. There are some very imaginative tracking and hand held shots, giving Black Circle Boys an almost documentary feel (although the end nearly falls into the cliche trap). Fortunately, this is not some modern teen drama laced with trendy pop culture references and a trendy pop culture soundtrack. Unfortunately, Carnahan struggles to move the film beyond its relentlessly slow pace. Both Bairstow and Mabius give fairly convincing performances. Bairstow looks genuinely hurt and confused as the troubled Kyle, and Mabius as Shane is equally good as the lead punk who struggles with his own painfully dysfunctional world. Although based loosely on a true story, Black Circle Boys has been marketed as a horror film. This is wrong. There is horror here; but it comes within the context of this violent drama, which is what Black Circle Boys essentially is.

Summary: Black Circle Boys
Review: One star for the acting, because that's all this movie's got. Anyone who finds this movie to be fun or entertaining should go get their head checked. Half the moronic stunts pulled off in this movie, in all probability, wouldn't happen. No heart can be so cold that you would humiliate and kill a friend without feeling any remorse. Shane is the perona of stupidity, and to say that he's cool or any other such nonsense, is rediculous! I'm sorry, Kyle, but if I had a girlfriend that looked like that, I'd ditch the Black Circle Boys in a heartbeat! The fact that he'd hang out with them instead of his girlfriend is improbable in itself! Especially after having sex pool-side! Come on, people! Realistic? No. Made to be realistic with good acting? Yes. Overall, this movie twists many things to fit the poor plot. For example, Satanism is nowhere near as stupid as it's shown to be. There's actually a belief system involved (no matter how stupid it may be) and they don't sacrifice or mutilate themselves anymore, from what I've read. Also, it wasn't the deaths of family members that messed these two idiots up, it was the lack of communication and love within the family during the grieving process. To be blunt and to the point: this movie is dumb. Waste your money on a good book or something.

Summary: shattering performance by Mabius
Review: Scott Bairstow(Wild America, New Best Friend) and his parents move to a new town, he's enrolled into a new school, its where he meets a girl and the girl tells him about the Black Circle Boys, lead by Eric Mabius(Resident Evil, The Crow: Salvation), and other members include a fat brainwhacked kid, Donnie Wahlberg(Dreamcatcher, Southie), Wahlberg seems like a pervert..really and a skinny and whimpy Chad Lindberg(October Sky, The Fast and The Furious)..they include Bairstow into their little circle..party, rock on and do rituals..one involving a cat. Mabius goes really crazy and his performance is the glue that holds this movie together...very raw and brutal...a good movie

Summary: Black Circle Boys
Review: Since when did clean-cut Hollywood hunks become a part of the goth' scene? While the occult has probably never looked so good or so polished, Black Circle Boys is an example of the type of movie that you wish was never made. From an over-reliance on script clichés to a plot that can be mapped out by viewers within the first five minutes, this is a bad movie, plain and simple. Except for glimpses of capable acting by the young cast, my feelings for Black Circle Boys would have gone as low as the religious figure the characters in the movie come to worship.

Kyle (Scott Bairstow) lived the happy suburban-American life. He was an All-American swimmer with a bright future. But then, tragedy hit (let the melodramatic music roll). During a rooftop party in celebration of Kyle's All-American selection, Kyle's brother fell several stories to his death. Rather than talk about the pain and deal with it, Kyle's father packs up the family and moves to a new suburban town hoping to suppress the family's sorrows.

Kyle begins anew at a school with a pecking order he was not yet a part of. Before long, Kyle gets involved with the contemporary group of boys "from the other side of the tracks" - the Black Circle Boys. Led by Shane (Eric Mabius), this is a small, but loyal, cult. Shane seduces Kyle with promises of drugs, alcohol and great power. With nobody else to turn to, Kyle goes along with the bad boys and the results are predictable.

You might be wondering, "Where's the girl? You can't have a cliché-riddled film without a pretty girl." Well, her name is Chloe (Tara Subkoff), and she becomes Kyle's link with the "real" world. Will she bring him back to the good side? I'm confident you will figure it out.

Much of Black Circle Boys' subject matter is disturbing. I still cannot come up with a good reason why there are scenes such as the tossing of a cat against a tree. This is pure cruelty, and isn't intended to have comical undertones. While scenes like these take us close to the world that Shane and the other Black Circle Boys inhabit, they are excessive and unnecessary. Some might think the film deserves a plus for realism, but for me, it is just taking things too far.

The cast of this weak film does deserve some credit. While none should be clearing a spot on the mantle for a golden statue, there are glimpses of stars in the making. Since Black Circle Boys was filmed in 1997, Bairstow has gone on to roles in Wild America, The Postman and television's Party of Five. Mabius has acted in Cruel Intentions, and Subkoff played the college girl in American Pie. Don't be surprised if these names pop up on lists of up-and-coming stars in the near future. But for the present, you'd be well advised to keep Black Circle Boys off your list of possible renters.

Summary: beautiful portrayel of what its like to get in too deep..
Review: the black circle boys was a great movie about what i would call social misfits (most people are right.. i wouldn't really consider them very gothic) and their world of drugs, satan, "brotherhood", and death. shane, kyle, mun, and rory, (and chloe) make up this movie of oddities.. the story of kyle, the all-american swimmer gone satanist, (against his wishes may i add), and the story of shane, (psychotic childhood, crazy father) are somehow understandable. and although the drug dealer (donnie wahlberg?!) is pretty much the only comedic sense to the film (from new kids to satan?) i found this movie to be very well acted, well written, well produced, and the storyline was wicked. the ending was a bit disapointing.. in a way where you want to see more.. what happened to certain charachers(charachter) etc. but i have added this movie to my list of favorites.. its actually a good life lesson of what its like to get in too deep.

Summary: Not Goth
Review: This is DEFINATLY NOT a goth movie!! the dark undertones of satanism makes it an interesting story. It shows a perfect story of how easily a misguieded youth can be misled. BUT IT IS IN NO WAY GOTH!! : )
