Review: I [wet] my pants when I saw this. Never ever ever have I ever seen a scarier flick. Forget that [not good shining and] silence of the lambs, for they all [were not good] compared to this. No question about it. This is the scariest flick ever made PERIOD!!!! If you said this wasn't scary you must have seen the wrong movie.

Review: One night I was flipping thru the channels and my aunt came in and she said Ohhh! change it back.And a girl named Regan was swinging back and forth on her bed and I said That's freaky and then she turned her eye's all the way around and I closed my eye's.At night I was'nt able to sleep but it was a chilling movie for me.

Summary: What scares us most is the truth!
Review: I've lately started (very carefully) to watch horror movies and thrillers. It took me over 6 months, though, before I had guts to rent The exorcist. Some of my friends told me it's boring and no scary at all, and at the same time I heard just the opposite.
I watched it at daytime. I watched it totally without sound. I listened to the classical music while watching it. I watched some parts speeded up. From time to time I took my glasses off. Most of the ending part I watched through my fingers...
And still... Afterwards I was so upset I couldn't keep my thoughts straight. I've never in my life been so scared! I believe that the horror movies' effectiveness depends on how much truth there is in them. I don't mean that all the monsters are real, but the horror-genre plays with our images about what is beyond the world we "know". If this movie scares you or not, it depends pretty much on how you see the life itself, and if you let through the eternal question: is there something or someone I can't see? Beware, people! Satan is real!

Summary: By Far The Most Scariest Movie of all time!!!!!!
Review: Words can not even begin to describe the horror of this movie!!! I am a big horror movie buff for all kinds of horror movies. Hardly any horror movies really scare me anymore but are still good to watch, but everytime I seee this movie I get goosebumps all over me and sometimes I'm even afraid to go out into my hallway at night after I see the "spiderwalk". This movie was a true masterpiece, something that even Wes Craven or John Carpenter couldn't pull off. It is about an evil demon spirit names Pazuzu taking over a 12 year old girl's body and making her horribly disfigured. I have to warn everyone DO NOT WATCH THIS FILM WHEN IT IS PITCH DARK OUT WITH ALL OF THE LIGHTS OUT!!! It can even be frightening to watch in total sunlight, this movie is for true horror movie buffs but not for the faint of heart!!! don't bother getting the exorcist 2 or 3 because they are not good at all and are most definetly not as scary as the original was. I strongly feel that there will never be another horror movie made ever again that can surpass "The Exorcist" because "The Exorcist" is the one horror movie in which all other horror movies are judged upon.

Review: Ask enough people what the scariest movie they've ever seen is and you'll get The Exorcist from a good number. Something about combining religion and horror that works on some folks and this is still the best and influenced a ton of pretenders over the years. A demon or is it the devil himself possesses the body of a young girl and the results are fabulous. No one has ever forgotten this film after viewing I think. The strong screenplay and story due to William Peter Blatty along with some very believable acting create a forceful movie that has shocked generations. There are many classic scenes here with vomit flying on priests, heads spinning 360 degrees, cross masturbation, and loads of cussing from a once sweet little girl. I always thought it was strange how long it took for anyone to believe Regan's poor mother about what was going on here. The sounds coming from the attic were always a cool, disturbing moment in the movie to me. Some of the subtle points of the film are just as creepy as the full throttle assault coming from our possessed friends mouth and urethra. The theatrical re-release was great and it was very cool to finally see this thing on the big screen. The new stair- walking scene was a worthy addition in my view. This got more awes at the theater I was in than anything else. What else can ya say here? The moment we see the two priests step into that cold bedroom we know there's gonna be hell to pay! The Exorcist scared your parents (some of your grandparents) and it will do the same to you. It also has one of the most memorable musical scores ever. This movie is a true American classic and not to be missed.

Review: Me and my friend watched this movie, and we thought that it wasn't gonna be scary at all, we are sitting there being bored out of our minds until...HOLY COw, everything about the movie after the 1st half hour is scary! The part where the lightnig flashes and the devil's face is on the door, scared me. My friends sister started crying!!! The scariest part to me (I was to afraid th watch the whole thing) is the scene where Reagen comes down the stairs on here hands!!! That part came into my mind every time I was about to fall asleep that night! Well, the one scene where 12 year old girls shouldn't be doing was nasty, I don't know why they put that in. And I thought Candyman was scary, am I stupid or something??? The Exorcist surely gains the title, SCARIEST MOVIE IN THE WORLD!

Feet of an eagle, paws of a lion, head of a dog, tail of a scorpion, with four wings and usually holding his right arm up. Sound familiar? Like the statue in the desert at the beginning of the movie. And as well as the off shots during the possession (beside the door, look close, there it is). All in all this is a fantastic movie, no one in Hollywood (i.e. where art goes to die) has even come close to this movie in its ability to scare people. Even the sequels don't come close. If you're a horror movie fan and by some wierd ass logic you don't have this yet, or you just want to get the crap scared out of you, do yourself a favor and click "add to basket."

Review: This is hands down the most terrifing movie ever made. I rented The Exorcist from blockbuster with some friends and watched it at midnight. Needless to say, I didn't get any sleep at all. If this classic horror film doesn't scare you nothing will. I saw it once and that's going to be it for a while.

Summary: A classic film of horror and demonic possession.
Review: Horror is the right word to describe this classic confrontation of good and evil. The opening frames of the film establish clearly that the devil has been and continues to be a frightening and destructive force in the world. Father Merrin, played well by Max von Sydow, discovers a small statue of the devil at an archeological dig in Northern Iraq. He has battled with this nemesis before and now he has come to the end of his life with the battle unresolved. The last scene in Iraq shows Father Merrin face to face with a large statue of the devil. The sun, heat, and dessert winds swirl around the two antagonists. All that follows in the film is foreshadowed by this dramatic encounter.The rest of the film takes place half a world away from the desert of Irag at a home near Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Chris McNeil, played by Ellen Burstyn, is making a film on the campus of Georgetown and we see her arguing with her director about her lines. In the background watching the argument is Father Karras, played by Jason Miller. It won't be long before Chris seeks out the help of Father Karras with a problem she is having with her 12 year old daughter Regan, played wonderfully by Linda Blair, who won a Golden Globe for her performance. It appears as if Regan may be possessed by the devil. Modern medicine is powerless to help Chris deal with the frightening changes and behavior of her daughter. At first Father Karras, a psychiatrist, is skeptical of Chris's contention that her daughter is possessed, but after a couple of interviews with Regan he requests permission to conduct an exorcism. Father Merrin, now located in upstate New York, is an experienced exorcist and is assigned to this case. The two priests join forces to drive out the devil from young Regan. This battle between the priests and the devil residing in Regan is filled with scene after scene of violent and explosive confrontations. The devil exhausts the aged Father Merrin, who is capable and well intentioned, but simply not strong enough for the fight. Father Karras does have the strength, but not the psychological or spritual maturity to contend with a truly powerful and intellectually superior antagonist. Is all this Hollywood nonsense or a genuine reenactment of an age old fight to free people from demonic possession? Each viewer will have his or her own answer to the question and the answer is likely to determine the extent of the power of the film to be frightening and disturbing. Whatever the beliefs of the viewer, it is certain that the film is exceptionally well written, directed and acted. The author of the best selling novel (which I also recommend), William Peter Blatty, was unsure that he could adapt his novel into a first-rate screen play. An Academy Award for best screenplay in 1973 answered his question. William Friedkin, the director, used all of his art to create the look, feel, and sound of the ultimate battle of good and evil played out in the bedroom of a frightened little girl. Thirty years after this film was made it still has the power to chill us with its realistic portrayal of the ultimate horror, being possessed by the devil. The DVD has the added benefit of a complete explanation by Director Friedkin of all the choices he made as he shot this film. Additionally, some added scenes, the famous spider walk, the hosptialization of Regan as she undergoes a variety of torturous tests, and various images of the devil subliminally cued into the film, set the DVD apart from the video most people have seen and experienced. Seldom has evil been filmed in so frightening a fashion. Most viewers will not soon be able to forget what they have seen and experienced.
