Summary: Scariest Movie of All Time
Review: The Exorcist is easily the most terrifying movie ever made. It details the travails of a young girl who has been possessed by a demon. The girl undergoes several medical and psychiatric evaluations to determine the cause of her 'illness'. It's after these evaluations prove useless that her mother entertains the idea that the girl is possessed.Of course the Catholic church has long ago officially renounced the concept of demon possession and exorcism. That's the official stance. There are still many believers in demon possession in the church and still priests who are able and willing to perform an exorcism. That's where Father Karras steps in. He is charged with evaluating the possibility of demon possession and the possible necessity of exorcism. He witnesses many strange things that this little girl does: speaking in Latin, projectile vomiting, turning her head completely around (my favorite). Once he determines that the girl is indeed possessed, he decides to go forward with the exorcism. He employs the services of a more experienced priest to perform the majority of the ceremony. The Exorcist is a great movie from beginning to end. The ending to this movie is the setup for one of the greatest sequels in movie history: The Exorcist III. This is certainly a movie that is best viewed in its uncut version and better watched in the company of several people.

Summary: Exorcist is not "The exorcist"
Review: When I got my first SAG card I was in a film with Linda Blair. I wanted to watch "The Exorcist" for content and by a wonderful accident I got the the wrong movie. George C. Scott (God rest his soul) Is outstanding in this film. This film is directed, Acted, and Shot in a manor film directors should take a lesson from. The film is weird as the subject dictates but at no time did I find myself looking at my watch. The special effects are great and the photography is super. If you are on the fence BUY THIS FILM it is a masterpiece.

Summary: Horrifying
Review: "The Exorcist" is easily the best horror film every made (it was also nominated for SEVEN ACADEMY AWARDS). It is both immensely mature and intelligent in the way it deals with its subject and never plays its disturbing content for laughs. This film is not for those easily offended either. The film allows a 12 year old girl (Linda Blair was fourteen, but she plays a twelve year old) to use extremely sexualy explicit dialogue that would instantly get this film an NC-17 rating today (why this film was not rated X in 1973 I don't know). The violence is graphic and disturbing as well as its sexual content. "The Haunting"'s director, Jan De Bont once said that "The Exorcist" could not be made today and get an R rating; it would without a doubt be rated NC-17. That aside, the film is both the most frightening horror film ever made, as well the most intelligent and best made.

Summary: Timeless, classic horror
Review: I remember first seeing "The Exorcist" years ago. It scared me then, it still scares me now. I applaud the use of brilliant special effects, superb acting, and a screenplay that takes all the best elements of the novel to create a tightly wound, disturbing and see-over-and-over movie.
This is in the top 10 of my all-time favorite horror films. This is not a splatter film by any stretch of the imagination. It is powerful with vivid images, dialogue and characters. At the heart is a basic good vs. evil tale. Anyone who appreciates good cinema should check this out. But be warned: few can watch this film without being haunted by it afterwards.
This edition of the film features behind-the-scenes footage as well as interviews with the actors and crew members. The documentary is fascinating just by itself. Very few movies, and even fewer horror movies, stand the test of time. This is one that continues to captivate audiences, and it belongs on the shelf of every horror fan.

Review: the best film ever made it has every thing a good movie needs a absoululty scary plot a brilliant screenplay an expert director and brilliant acting.it still scares me and thats after seeing it six times. the only other films which did this was the haunting (original)and speed 2 (becuase of its crap plot ect)

Review: This is the only movie I ever saw that really scared me. But, WOW, did it ever scare me! It makes you feel you are actually faced with real evil. The Special Edition DVD showed something that hadn't been included in the movie, the "spider walk." This scene gave me goose bumps. After all these years, I never would have thought anything could chill me to such an extent. If you like to experience fear in the safety of your chair, this is for you!

Summary: nothing can touch it- the scariest movie ever made
Review: The Exorcist is BY FAR the most horrifying movie ever made. Yes, there have been some very scary movies made in the past 26 years but NONE can even come close to the pure horror of the Exorcist. A "thinking person's" horror flick. Minimal special effects and very convincing acting by Linda Blair. This is not a movie to see at night, alone, with the lights out. This movie will stick with you for many years to come.
