Summary: House was spooky, House 2 was weird. Both are awsome
Review: .... Besides funny it was spooky and had some shocking parts. So if you are looking for a fun, shocking horror movie give House 1 and 2 a try.

Summary: The house I want to live in...
Review: but without the bad stuff, of course. You know what this movie reminds me of? C.S. Lewis's _The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,_ in which a little girl opens a closet and finds it leads to a completely different world. That's this movie. Open any door in _House_ and God knows what you'll find and where it'll lead. Open this door--damn! a monster! Open this one--now where the hell am I? This certainly ain't Earth! There is a nice balance of humor and scariness in this movie. But not horror, not really. Just a little scariness. It some ways it's about what scares nearly every kid at night: keep the closet door closed! Who knows what's in there!?! Watch this film and you'll find out.

Summary: Holds up
Review: I originally saw this movie 2-3 years after release with a bunch of friends in college, and marvelled at how this thing entertained. Frightening, funny, tense, and witty. Well, many things that seemed like that in college in later, sober (er) years didn't hold up that well. But recently, I happened to see this again and was delighted at how good I still think it is. Lots of fun, with a deep and spiritual validity (just kidding about that last part). See what you think.

Summary: Classic horror movie
Review: I've been watching "House" ever since I was a kid and I still like watching it. Horror novelist Roger Cobb (William Katt) decides to go back to the house he grew up in to write a novel about his past Vietnam experiences. He soon finds out that the house is haunted when he keeps hearing noises and encounters his Aunt Elizabeth as a ghost. Roger doesn't believe that his son, Jimmy, is dead and he wants to try to find him after he keeps hearing his voice in the house. Roger must try his best to keep finding clues in order to find his son and to keep from falling in the hands of the house's haunted wrath.

"House" is a classic horror movie and it will always be one of my favorites. It has good effects and one of the best storylines of any horror movie up to date. If you like great horror movies, I recommend getting "House."

Summary: QUIRKY IS THE ONLY WAY
Review: This movie will not scare you. This movie MIGHT make you laugh. So why is it entertaining? Mainly because of it's intended self awareness, it's intended quirkiness, and the INTENDED camp feeling. It reminded me of a lower leveled "Scream" for haunted houses.

PERKS: The setting the make up effects the humor the "nothing-is-what-it-seems-in-this-house" feel

DRAGS: the acting The vietnam storyline (to serious to put in this fare) The ending, which was to over the top and took itself seriously

Watch this if it's on tv. That's about it.

Summary: A different haunted house film.
Review: I really love this movie for it's originality in plot, especially for a haunted house horror film. Most of the haunted house films are all the same, because their either just like Amityville, or just like The Haunting. It's not just about a ghost possesed house, it's more about a house that takes it's visitor's into a neitherworld of terror. This film has some great special effects and cool looking creatures. House has some comedy blended into it as well. I think the element that makes this movie scary is mainly the film's musical score. The sequals to House are just rediculousley bad but if you want to see the sequal to this movie only, than just skip to House IV, the rest have nothing to do with the original plot.

Summary: A fantastic "rainy-day" flick...
Review: "House" is one of those outrageously wayward, B-list horror films of the 1980's that I'm proud to take a guilty pleasure in! From the hands of "Friday the 13th" creators Sean S. Cunningham and Steve Miner, this film effectively blends entertaining elements of surrealistic terror and tongue-in-cheek comedy. William Katt, George Wendt, and Richard Moll's performances are probably the biggest reason I keep knocking on "House's" door. You can't help but chuckle as mild-mannered novelist Roger Cobb (Katt) and his semi-oafish neighbor (Wendt) do battle against the ugly phantasms that beset them in his deceased aunt's haunted Victorian house. I just love the mounted swordfish that comes to life and Roger's comical attempt to prove his sanity by photographing one of the house's closet ghouls with the help of a Radio Shack barricade of cameras, mics, and VCRs while in his old Vietnam army gear! Also, the creature effects and "Friday the 13th" composer Harry Manfredini's score help keep this film's campy momentum clipping along.

All in all, "House" is a noteworthy 80's midnite flick that ranks with the likes of "Evil Dead II", "The Toxic Avenger", and "Killer Klowns From Outer Space." I do recommend steering clear away from its many deplorable sequels, unless you're in desperate need of a free lobotomy!

Summary: Go William Katt!
Review: I don't care what any of you think. "House" is fantastic! It was a funny and wonderful horror/comedy. It wasn't intended to be deep, or moving, or intelligent in the ways you speak of. And I am not a: a college student of b: desperate for entertainment and I really enjoyed it. But I can see where you're coming from when I take in the fact that you need a sense of humor to enjoy this movie. I thought it was fantastically funny and enjoyable. The acting was not terrible. This movie wasn't written by Shakespeare or directed by Stephen Spielberg or Stanley Kubrick after all. But the director of "House" did a fine job. If you do not enjoy movies that are meant purely for fun, you should not watch this. And if you are expecting Academy Award worthy performances from a low-budget eighties horror flick, (though William Katt was wonderful) don't watch this. But, if you enjoy great horror movies with some strange and low-budget effects and a darling leading man, watch "House". It is a great example of good work from its genre.

Summary: A good entertainment horror comedy film.
Review: Director Steve Miner does good job making this film. This film some good laughs, good make-up special effects are fine and good actors. My only problem with the film is, the scenes where William Katt Character, remember about the war, the jungle are really fake, the film needed bigger budget.

Still is one of the good old days of the eighties.

Summary: A clever, witty horror film...
Review: I must say that I liked this film. Okay it's corny and a bit silly in places, but it is still a good film never the less. Some good music and comedy moments along with some gruesome looking ghouls, I recommend you give HOUSE a look.
