Review: I remember that part so vividly. Poor unwitting Shari Belafonte Harper is standing face to face with her witch ancestor, about to bite the dust (well, actually get turned into a vampire) while picking out some wine, and that's the witch/vampire's advice: red...definitely red. I'm so excited that this movie is available on DVD, because it was a truly fun film to see as a kid in the 80s. It was scary and funny and had such a great atmosphere to it. A romanticized New England Halloween spirit which fed into my idea of what Halloween is all about. Quintessentially '80s, right up there with "Thriller", and a made-for-TV descendant of John Landis's seminal horror film "An American Werewolf in London." So get out your leg warmers and crimping irons, pump up the synthesizer and demand your MTV! Look out! It's the Midnight Hour!

Summary: The BEST halloween TV movie ever made!
Review: I remember watching The Midhight Hour when I was 6. I loved it back then, but when I rediscovered it a local video store (the only store I have found to carry it until the new release)I was in heaven. It only got better than I remembered. It's got a simple charm that movies today seem to have lost. A great storyline with interesting character developement. Not to mention a great music soundtrack with oldies and even an original song sung by Shari Belafonte. As a Film Major in college I can tell you cinematically that anyone who wishes to enjoy a great halloween classic should see this movie.I want everyone to go out and find this movie, buy it if you can. You won't regret it!

Summary: A great movie
Review: I remember watching this movie with my brother and sister. I was scared. Yes, I really was. It a excellent movie to watch on Halloween night, or maybe a movie to watch on a romantic evening. It is a movie about a group of kids who wake up the dead on Halloween night. The town is turned upside down and all hell breaks lose. I enjoy every moment of this movie, from the start to the very end. The dance number is one I can never forget. What about that? A delightful mix of horror, comedy and a sappy, yet loveable romance. Watch for some stars, like the dad from "That 70's Show", hes in there. And Levar Burton, this is way before his Reading Rainbow years. I was so excited when I saw it on DVD. IT is a must have to all those who know of it. It is one of those when you metioned it at the water cooler people ask who you are talking about. (Midnight Madness, another must movie that needs to make the DVD cross over). That is my review, so here is a movie you will love, as in the words of Mr. Levar Burton, "but you don't have to take my word for it..."

Summary: Hackneyed
Review: I saw a bad copy taped off TV once. Oh my, what junk it was. The basic story is: a couple of high school students (notice in all horror movies the main characters are never older than 20) find this cursed...I dunno, thing and that just sets off zombies to rise from their graves and run amok during Halloween. Hmm, how convenient. Basically everyone becomes a zombie except for one kid who tries to, like, "uncurse" it. It's forgettable if you're a die hard horror fan, actually even if you're not it's forgettable. Although I imagine it must have been a hassle to make Kevin McCarthy look scarier than he is in real life. See "Dawn of the Dead" instead if you want horror, or "Return of the Living Dead" if you want horror comedy.

Review: I thought my review went up ont he DVD section, I guess not. Anyway, this is an excellent movie. I remember watching it a long time ago. I thought it was scary, really I did. The movie is a blend of horror and comedy. Its about a bunch of kids who unknowningly raise the dead. The dead are mad and ready to create havoc on the night of Halloween. IT is on DVD now! How cool is that. The movie is great to watch on a halloween night or during a candlelight dinner with your loved one. Look for some cameos. The dad from "That 70's Show" is in it. So is "Reading Rainbow" star Levar Burton. The best part of the movie is the great dance number. You will start dancing. The movie is a classic to me and I hope it will be for you to.

Review: I thought this movie was excellent! It is good for any family because it doesen't have any gore,bloodshed,and nudity. The cover makes it look scary but it isn't. My favorite part is when the monsters and people are dancing at the party. If your in the mood for a good comedy/horror movie then buy "The Midnight Hour".

Summary: An unnoticed great Halloween Film
Review: Like many, I saw this movie way back in the eighties (I remember the ads saying something like "Halloween isn't over yet!" cause it was shown on November 1st). I turned it on as a lark, since I'm a longtime fan of horror movies. As stated by other reviewers, this movie was definitely influenced by the "Thriller" video (I think the same people did effects for both, but don't quote me). The plot revolves around an ancient witch-vampire's curse on the town of Pitchford Cove. It builds as the town quickly succumbs to the vampirism, almost like a virus spreading out of control. Sort of like "Salem's Lot"- your best friend might now be one of the undead! To me the standout character was Jonna Lee, who played the also risen 1950s Cheerleader. Ms.Lee had a brief career in the 80s, often playing teenage girls in movies, and TV shows like "Airwolf" and "Mike Hammer". Believe it or not, I guessed the ending when I first saw it. Still, it's not your average run of the mill movie, and deserves a place on your DVD shelf.

Summary: A fun horror flick
Review: Long before Stephen King miniseries invaded the screen, there was The Midnight Hour. I saw this movie back in 1987 with my dad and we loved it. It was funny and exciting. Filled with a notable cast, this movie is also able viewing for the entire family. It is not filled with blood and gore, and does not depend on high budget effects to make it watchable. It is also filled with good music from the 60s and 70s (even Shari Belefonte-Harper gets to sing a song in a music video like montage). For my money, this is one of the better made-for-TV horror flicks. Lots of fun and thrills await you.

Review: My aunt had told me a lot about The Midnight Hour. She said she liked, but never was able to see the ending from when she watched it way back in 1986. Well, she found a copy of it, and I'm pretty glad she did. The Midnight Hour is one of those 80's horrocomedy flicks that reigns up there with The Monster Squad and Waxwork. A group of friends perform a ritual on Halloween night that they thought wouldn't work. Little known to them, it worked, and all things demon like begins to rise. Vampires, zombies, werewolves, and more. Also, a ghost named Sandy who only wants to find true love. She finds that in the shy one of the group who performed the ritual, Phil. While Phil (who doesn't yet know Sandy is a ghost) and Sandy are out having sweet time, there's an party of the undead going on where the rest of the group are one by one being attacked and turned into vampire and zombies. The rest is for you to know. The Midnight Hour blended just enough comedy and horror to make a worthy movie. The end is also worth it, very tearful. So I suggest you catch this one, before it's dead. ('Scuse the corny pun!)
