Summary: Not even good B-Movie camp!
Review: If you were expecting to see a fascinating sequel to the horror classic "Carrie," well... okay, none of us expected anything of the sort! I went in with few expectations, expecting the flick to be a cheap but fun "shunned chick gets her revenge" bit. Maybe I would see fun campy movie, maybe a cool albeit lowgrade supernatural romp. Yuck---this flick doesn't even pass as good camp! The villains are too "over the top bad," the dialogue lame, and the ultimate set-up to humiliate the tormented heroine is so far fetched. Fun firework show during the climax, but seems like the rest of the movie was pure after thought. "Carrie 2" seems like one of those flicks that some B-Loving fanboy/filmmaker tries to produce with the specific intent of making a "wacky guilty pleasure classic;" those usually make for the worst camp! Whatever the intent, this movie falls flat.

Summary: The Rage will Enrage
Review: If you loved the original Carrie, starring Sissy Spacek, then this Grade-Z exercise in garbage will make you want to pull a "Carrie" on the film-makers. In other words, get out the flame-throwers. Made on what looks like a budget of 25 cents, this zero-talent rip-off of a classic, makes you wonder why this movie was ever made. For the money, of course. But any routine episode of the X-Files, Buffy, Tales from the Crypt, look like Gone With the Wind compared to this forgettable mess. The only special effects you see are the usual "burn-up the soundstage" sequences and some flying CD discs. Oh, yes, there's one or two shots of a coffee mug shaking on a table top. Great effects. The new Carrie, played in glum, depressed style by Emily Bergl, leaves you yawning at the end. The hideous clothes worn by the cast--dull, dark, black jeans and slacks and jerseys--add even more grimness to the over-all look. As played by Sissy Spacek, you really cared for Carrie and wanted to help her. In the world of teenagers presented in this dismal nightmare, all jocks are sadistic psychos, pretty girls are giggling monsters, all adults are brainless idiots, and the only person you feel compassion are those who shelled out money to see this junk. And some of us horror addicts thought the nadir of sequel nightmare were those that followed their original classics like "The Howling", "Robocop" and "Fright Night." Check out the sequels to "Alien," "Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Puppetmaster" and see just how great sequels really can be--in the hands of masters.

Summary: It would give it 4.5. It's GOOD
Review: As a child Rachaels mother is taken away, now as a teenager she lives with foster parents who don't really care about her that much. She doesnt have many friends, infact she really only has one best friend, Lisa. One of the jocks at school shags Lisa, rates her out of then then dumps her. She is heartbroken by this and jumps off a roof. This sets something off in Rachael as all the lockers in school fly open. Soon nice joce Jessy falls for Rachael, this pisses off the cheerleading squad who like Jessy, they team up with the rest of the jocks to plan a surprise for Rachael. The Rage: Carrie 2 isn't really a horror movie, it is more like a supernatural love story and a damn great one at that. I really enjoyed this movie, it is a bit irrelavent from the first one. It has Sue Snell in it again as Rachaels Guidence Counsiller. This movie has a great build up to a brill ending, this movie is pretty cool, don't listen to anyone else, watch it NOW.

Summary: So-so
Review: Me and two friends rented this last night and although we hadnt seen the first movie we thought The Rage looked quite good.It wasn't. In fact it was pants! The storyline was ok as far as horrors go but nothing happened until the end and even the "horror" bits weren't unexpected or sudden and were funny rather than scary! The very last bit in the film was freaky though and my friends screamed and i jumped and all of our hearts were racing for about a minute!

Summary: Not a bad many years later sequel.
Review: I also enjoyed the original Carrie with Sissy Spacek. Today's effects are obviously a lot better. If you want to see this movie to its fullest then watch the DVD version through a 5.1 DD surround system with a good subwoofer. The sound is really impressive starting in the opening of the movie and by all the black and white sequences along the way.

Summary: Really good!!
Review: Note: Minor spoilers!!

I have ordered the first one, but I haven't seen it yet, so I can't compare these two. But one thing's for sure. This movie is a good buy. Cannot say it's so really original, but is it that who really counts when it comes to the point. Starring as Carrie's halfsister Rachel, is Emily Bergl. And she's doing an interesting performance. The climax and killings doesn't appeare before the last 10 minutes, but what an ending. I was blown away the first time I saw the movie. Ant there's some pretty good gore too. (Just wait 'till you see what's falling into the pool. Ouch!!)

Summary: Could have been worse...
Review: I'm a huge fan of the first movie, (I happen to think it is one of the scariest and best horror films of all time-still scares the bejeezus out of me as an adult) so I really wanted to rent this one. I actually wanted to go see it in the theater when it got some not-too-bad reviews, but no-one would see it with me. The movie had its good and bad points.

On the bad side, there were a couple of really unbelievable plot elements, like the fact that Sue Stern would take Rachel (I think that was her name) to the ruins of the old high school, that still happened to be standing like it had burned down a couple of weeks ago instead of over 20 years ago. I get that she had to explain things to her, but that was just stupid. There's a killing thrown in towards the end that seems thrown in just to shock, and I'm surprised the actress agreed to it, not like she needs the money (if you saw it, you know who I mean). John Doe wasn't in it enough (and they made him look like crap. Yeah, I know his part wasn't that vital to the plot, so what?). They just flat out-steal techniques from the first one such as switching to slow-motion footage of her walking in front of the flames. They even toss in the old "They're all gonna laugh at you...they're all gonna laugh at you..." which just made me think of how I should dust off my copy of the original and watch it instead. If you've seen the first one, it's easy to tell where the plot of the movie is going.

Of course, this movie being made at all was pretty unnecessary, the first one was a masterpiece. Obviously, it probably wouldn't have been made if there weren't the whole teen-horror craze going on that they wanted to cash in on. But, it could have been worse. It got the element that the first one had of high school being a really dangerous, vicious, and nasty place, and (if you are old enough) makes you REALLY glad that you are out of there. It had characters that you really cared about and wanted things to work out for. It also had characters you really, really hated that you are hoping will get what's coming to them, in a really horrible way. It also had a really memorable, scary epilogue, that wasn't a total rip-off of the first one and was actually original (and sad). The original was about 50 times better, but at least this one doesn't insult your intelligence and has some decent characters with some depth to them, unlike most of the crap in the same teen-horror genre like say, Urban Legend or I Know What You Did Last Summer. Not great, but not bad.

Summary: A far cry from the original, and far worse.
Review: Every critic thinks terrible thoughts... many were thinking, "SHAM!" upon viewing the movie "The Rage: Carrie 2." An utterly resistable piece of filmmaking, the movie, directed by Katt Shea and starring a semi-lucid cast of teenage actors, tries to add to the plot of the original movie with little success and much blasphemy.

It's present-day, and Bates High School is bustling with the usual teenage activity: people going to class, hanging out with friends, jocks sleeping with girls as a game of who gets the most points... like I said, the usual teenage activity. Among one of these girls is Lisa, who happens to be friends with Rachel, the resident campus "freak." Lisa, who has lost her virginity to one of the football jocks, jumps from the top of the building and kills herself, which brings to the attention of Rachel the knowledge of the facts surrounding Lisa's death. While the jocks are doing everything they can to keep Rachel's mouth shut about certain events, one softy jock, Jesse, becomes enticed by Rachel, befriending her and soon becoming her boyfriend. All of this storyline is accompanied by the sidestory of Rachel's telekinesis and the origins of her power: she is Carrie White's half sister.

The plotline of the film does make a small amount of sense, but not by a long shot. While trying to come off as an intelligent thriller that will continue the original story, it comes off as sounding juvenile and ineffective through the execution of the story as well as most of the acting on the actors' parts. Emily Bergl gives a slightly credible performance as Rachel, and in some instances, she has her moments of sentiment and feeling. This is the extent of the acting as a whole, and the rest is left to dwell on cliche teenage one-liners and conversations that are as brainless as the filmmakers. Under the direction of Katt Shea, who came onto the project in mid-filming, the film suffers from a lack of feeling or emotion, far below the level contained in Brian de Palma's shocking and highly emotional original film. To sum it all up, this is one movie that the world could live without; a blatant waste of money and so-called talent.

The DVD edition of this film is average in its design; the film is beautifully presented, but the overall lack of special features ruin the experience. Image quality is sharp with highly saturated colors and crisp edges, yet in some scenes the picture is wanting in clarity. Sound design is somewhat effective, really only able to engage in all channels during the flashback scenes and the gruesome party scene. The only special features on this disc are deleted scenes, director's commentary, and and alternate ending sequence. Where's the theatrical trailer? Where's the making-of featurette? What is happening to DVD?

Summary: Haven't seen the first one but...
Review: I love this movie. My favorite scene of all time comes from this film. When she stands in front of the glass and it shatters everywhere. Awesome! I just can't get enough of it! I am defenitely gonna purchase this on dvd soon.

Summary: If You Like These Types of Movies
Review: The Rage Carrie 2 was okay. It was gory; heads rolled and a man's genitals were ripped out. The story line itself was okay, but was too similar to the first one. It was more like a remake of the first movie than a sequel. It would have been better if there weren't so much gore in it. And the sex scene was unnecessary, really. Movies tend to be better if there is less gore and more is left to the imagination. All in all it was okay, but kind of cheesy.
