Summary: One of the better adaptions of a Stephen King short story
Review: This film is better than other Stephen King short story adptions like "Sometimes They Come Back" and "The Lawnmower Man". It manages to keep you scared most of the way through.
The plot is simple, men try to clear rats from textile mill, rats get monster to kill off men.
Although some may complain that you only see the monster once, no good horror movie has ever shown the monster until the final show down at the end of the film, it keeps you in suspence.
I think this film is up with the likes of "Salems Lot" and "Children of the Corn"

Summary: Good b horror flick, 3 1/2 stars is my rating.
Review: This is a good example of a b horror movie. There is plenty of gore & bloodshed to be found here. The plot is decent as well, set in a textile mill in Gates Mill, Maine because Stephen King lives in Maine. It is set in a mill that still uses the picker system instead of the automation.
The best part of the flick is the final 20 minutes when we first see the giant bat/rat demon in the basement of the mill.
David Andrews & Kelly Wolf have never starred in a movie together to the best of my knowledge, but here their chemistry & love for each other is great. David is a drifter who gets gired to work in the mill for the 3rd shift, I work 3rd also. Kelly is Jane a beautiful millworker. Stephen Macht stars as the boss of the mill. Brad Dourif stars as the loveable exterminator, too bad he only gets 5-10 minutes worth of action.
A team to clean up the basement is assigned & David is the leader, they find the bodies of the missing co-workers, some rats which are bigger than they are, but the monster stays mainly unseen until the end.
The camera work is pretty good, but at times seems like it was done just to say it was done. The fact that the movie is set during the 11pm-7am hours of 3rd shift makes the atmosphere of the movie be very good.
The directing by Singleton is sub-par at times especially when the monster is seen on the first floor instead of the basement but mainly is pretty good. The special effects & elements of suspsense in the movie are really good.Only two things wrong with the movie: 1. The acting is sub-par at times, but not enough to really hurt the quality of the movie. 2. The pace seems a little too brisk because the movie only runs 87 minutes, I would expand on it more, esp. showing the monster more.
The best parts are: 1. When they first discover what is in the basement & their reaction to it. 2. A secretary loses some papers & goes down to the basement after them, but trips & breaks her back, then she looks to see her demise. 3. The blood & gore of the movie is enough to satisfy horror buffs.

Summary: Pretty Good
Review: This isnt a very scary nor suspenseful film. But it is fun to watch. A short story turned into a long story. The plot isnt that great, though but the effects such as the bat, the basement below the basement and the murders are pretty cool. The best performances are the characters of Hall, Warwick and the Exterminator

Review: This little paramount picure is based on Steven Kings short story.Its abought a drifter named John Hall who gets a job at a textile mill with a rat problem.A huge rat problem.Even though some people think it has nothing on its mind it has a lot on its mind,it is still extremly entertaining.After some charcters named Stevenson and Nardello get eaten the film becomes tense.The foreman,Warwick,choses Hall,Jane,Charmicheal,Dansen,Ippeston,and Brogan to clean the basement well they discover a trap door and a horror that comes to life during the graveyard shift.If you buy this title you have a good horror movie taste

Summary: Like The Shining, King Needed To Step In.
Review: This movie does have some good aspects to it. Like that Maine accent, remote isolated feeling, that uneasy feeling of being around rats alone, and that cute, well-built chick. However, Stephen King should have had more influence on the set. If he had any at all. It was a little thin in some instances. Overall, a good flick. Listen for the great audio loop during the credits. It is awesome. I only wish there was some sort ofsoundtrack to this movie.

Summary: Attack of the Killer Rats!
Review: This movie has the feel of a late-night monster fest hosted by Svengoolie or Elvira. I had no idea what this was about when I started watching it, but by the end, I wished I would have skipped it entirely. The story starts off well, with murders happening in an old factory by some mysterious monster (that you don't see at first). From there it goes downhill, it felt like a low-rent 'Pet Sematary'. I have never read the short story that this was based off of, but I'm sure that King made his scarier than this movie could ever be. The best acting in the movie comes from Brad Dourif, best known for his performance as Billy Bibbit in 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' and the voice of Chucky the killer doll from 'Child's Play', as an exterminator.

Summary: Very strange
Review: This movie is made rather half-heartedly, but it wallows so deep in the strange and disgusting that a fan of the horror genre can't help but be intrigued. It is based very loosely on Stephen King's story out of Night Shift. Its about a drifter who gets a job at an old mill where a bizarre death has just occured. The foreman is a sleazy adulterer who sleeps with his lady employees. The drifter falls for one of them and they become good friends. When one of the secretaries finds out she was put on cleanup, she trashes the foreman's car. Drifter stops the foreman from hitting the woman and the foreman asigns him to cleanup to take her place. That is when the party really gets started. The movie is by all means horrible, but it is still incredibly entertaining. It has no logic and the story is par at best, but you feel so compelled to watch it because it does hook you. Wich is why this is still one of my favorite horror movies. Look out for Brad Douriff as the exterminator.

Summary: ANOTHER STEPHEN KING REJECT
Review: This movie is very slow paced and repetitive,it starts out with a factory worker talking to rats and putting them in a cotton machine then he falls in. Its basically about a city with rat problem and a stupid redneck exterminator. Very slow and boring and another bad Paramount DVD even worse than My Bloody Valentine.

Review: This movie, is not for the weak stomaches, but most of all its a great STEPHEN KING film. Funny laughs, and a great screen play.
