Rating: Summary: A Film Obviously Created By A True Humanitarian Review: Allow me to get one thing off my back immediately: those people who consider this film exploitive are living well outside of reality. Scumbags like the ones portrayed in this movie exist, and, sadly enough, traumatic and horrific experiences such as the ones depicted herein do occur in real life. If you find trouble accepting the violence of this movie, than I suggest getting your head out of Mickey Mouse's a**, because these bastards are out there (although most are out of view and directing Hollywood films these days) Sure, it does have it's faults, which is only usual for such low-budget fare. But we horror buffs are more willing than others to accept these 'mistakes' as an acceptable and perhaps necessary ingredient to a good horror film. Take, for instance, the segments where the sound is cut off for no apparent reason, or the poor voice overs in others (the rape scenes are a good example). Speaking of which, the scenes depicting rape are about as realistic as movie slugfights are in real life, so I don't see what the big fuss is over. There is nothing 'tasteless' about it, unless a beautiful woman running around naked through the woods strikes you as tasteless. One has to assume the observatory stance of anthropologist studying caveman behavior in some parts, true, but it's a simplicity that is needed to portray the basest and most primal human instincts. The ending is purgation exemplified, as our heroine, once gained clearance from God at a local church, enacts her revenge through some exceptionally cruel (and seductive) means, inexorably until each and every grave is sufficiently 'spat upon.' Overall, a great movie: the setting is beautiful and the characters, though exaggerated, believable. All making for a classic horror experience that is not to be missed. Rent it immediately or drown forever in Disney psychosis!
Rating: Summary: . Review: I'll give it an extra star for being so extreme and awful. Not that I necessarily *admire* that, but it made it vaguely interesting as a curiousity. There's no question the film is in poor taste, if you will, but it feels more dated, amateurish and goofy than explicit and disturbing. I see no reason for a ban (though I never see any reason for a ban.) Anyhow, it's generally an awful film with nothing to engage you other than the fact that it's so terrible and willfully tasteless.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining, realistic b movie Review: This exploitation flick will,no doubt,be more appreciated by fans of the genre than mainstream movie fans. However,I think mainstream audiences should take a look at this, though. The plot, based on a true story, concerns a woman who is brutally raped. She gets her revenge by killing them all. Many viewers, not new to the genre, will be shocked by the extreme violence.
Rating: Summary: Violent and Exploitive. Review: Extremely violent horror/thriller about pretty young woman travelling to an island only to be beaten and raped by a gang of young holigans. Terrible film is banned in most countries and is an absolute abomination. Don't waste your time or money.
Rating: Summary: Waste of money ! Review: From the name of the movie you will think that you will see real good horror movie. In fact the story was so bad .....it is not worth it to waste your time and money .....!
Rating: Summary: A poor film with not much story that should not be seen. Review: This is a very low budjet film and really is nothing special. After seeing the exorcist I thought to myself I should start to get into these Banned movies. When this came through my door all that was in it was rape and more rape that should not be allowed to be seen in any country. It is not a horror or thriller but just more like a old cult film gone wrong. If you are looking for a film with a story line that is banned buy A clockwork orange.
Rating: Summary: This film is not about revenge. It's about justice. Review: An earlier reviewer wrote 'why didn't Keaton just call the police?' That's just the point. That never brings justice. It might be according to the law whathappens then, it's not justice. The slow pace, the long scenes, the silent sequences and the threatening absence of a musical score thoughout the entire film make for a wonderful constant suspense. You KNOW what is going to happen all the time, it's the WHEN and HOW that matter here. The scenery and camera angles are at some points almost poetic and a real contrast to the ugly violence that is shown. That makes the film even more uncomfortable to watch, and that is precisely the point. It's not a brilliant film, there are some inconsistencies here and there, and apart from Camille Keaton's the acting is rather bad. But there are many good points about it as well.
Rating: Summary: Mindless exploitation Review: The people who made and starred in this film must have been slumming for a paycheck. How original- a nieve city girl decides to get away for a while in what looks like the inbred capital of the world, and is followed and eventually attacked by some real ugly rednecks. Don't be fooled into thinking this is something shocking or controversial like the cover would have you beleieve (banned everywhere, blah blah)it is just plain crap. If you want GOOD low-budget horror, go get Evil Dead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dead Alive, etc. This is for people with no lives to fulfill their rape fantasies.
Rating: Summary: decent movie and all, but... Review: To the individual who wrote the review (above) as "Turned On"- hey, are we supposed to be disturbed by your claiming to be aroused after seeing this film? Get a job!
