Summary: THE DENTIST 2: BRACE YOURSELF!
Review: A good sequel to the original film, but it is a little bit more "violent." The dentist escapes from a mental institution and drives out to a small town he visited when was a kid, and he starts to set up practice again. Even though he tries to keep control, the dentist begins to lose his mind again: he has visions of his new girlfriend making love with her old boyfriend, and eventually he begins taking out his anger on his patients. His wife (from the first film) has hired a private investigator to track him down, so she can get back at him for cutting out her teeth and tounge. It all leads to an unpredictable, painfully halarious ending!

Summary: Disappointing!
Review: After watching Yuzna's "Progeny", it is not hard to imagine how "The Dentist 2" should have been far superior to the former film. I was wrong - from the all too rushed storyline (Crazy doctor finally got out of jail... tried to get his life back but failed because he was indeed mentally sick), to the failed attempt at acummulating the tension of the final violent scenes (since the tension does not actually being built up, the last teeth massacre - there's only FEW of them - cannot revive this audience's spirit for liking the film), this film is a total waste. Yuzna's directing here is not as good as the more artistic effort of his in "Progeny", even though he uses interesting transitional devices like the irises and wipes that are uncommonly used in horror films (this sadly creates the "joking", "playful" nature of the film - though the subject of the film is indeed quite serious). Even the special effects of the film are disappointing (not much blood spurting around... nor any gum being rawly ripped). Who said that this film is only for the strong-stomached?

There are so many things that one can do in making a horror film on dentistry, and the killings shown here are very, very tame and lame. This film is not on a demented story about dentistry violence - it tends to fall towards the genre of black comedy. Maybe that is what Yuzna is after: Without success.

Summary: Boring story line & poor acting
Review: Corbin does a miserable job of acting in this one. If you like gore, there is plenty of that in this film, but if you prefer scary movies to contain interesting story lines and reasonably decent acting, you may want to look elsewhere for your entertainment. If you are going to actually buy a DVD, there are better films available here on Amazon. Rent this if you must, but don't buy.

Summary: decay on parade...again!
Review: Dr Feinstone has escaped from a mental institution and has taken up an assumed identity in the small town of paradise. Here he hopes to start over. He keeps his impulses to clean up society at bay by cutting himself thus driving his evil out through pain. The local dentist does a lousy job on the Dr's teeth and during an argument falls down some stairs to his doom. Paradise now needs a new dentist. And they get one. At first all goes well but its not long before the old urges come back. How long can the dentist hold them back?

Quite a while as it turns out and thats something i didnt like about this movie. It takes too long to get going. in the first movie that didnt bother me so much but here, the backstory isnt quite as good to hold us over to the gorings. When the gorings come, its more of the same delightful torture we got in the first film. In one scene, an unfortunate busybody has a tooth torn out of her gums and the dangling nerve is used as bait in a game of truth or lies...not to be missed.

Summary: BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!!!! EVEN BETTER THAN THE FIRST ONE!
Review: I LOVED IT!!!!!! I remember watching this on HBO a few months ago and rented it today at the video store. It just came out on video but it should've come out in movie theatres!! This is the best horror movie I've ever seen and the best movie I've ever seen. I think Corbin Bernson is very talented and is the perfect person for this part. I have met him in real life and he's really nice. I will buy it on VHS as soon as the price gets lower. I recomend this to anyone who likes movies. YOU WILL NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY, I AM GOING TO RENT THIS OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER UNTIL I BUY IT!!!!

Summary: I THOGHT IT SUCKED!!!!!
Review: I really liked the first one alot. and then I rented this lame excuse of a movie. And just how did he survive after getting shot in the head multiple times with a friggin' nail gun. And he's just driving away laughing!!! How stupid!!! It started off all slow and then turned into a slasher movie!! And it isn't so damn cool like the original. But Bernsen was good as usual.

Summary: Good movie
Review: I'm surprised people liked the first one enough to make a sequel. I'm glad though, this movie's pretty rad. It's got an intellegent story, and still lots of insanely painful and gory looking stuff. The first Dentist movie is definetly not bad either. I reccommend this and the first movie to anyone and everyone.

Summary: Boring story line & poor acting
Review: If the Oscars were brave enough to give awards to films like this, they couldn't help but nominate Corbin Bernsen for his brilliant turns in the two DENTIST films. Not since Joan Crawford and Bette Davis did Baby Jane, has an actor fully embraced the idiocy of his role and filled it with superlative turns in mood and emotion. Bernsen seems to be having the time of his career in the role of Alan Feinstone/Larry Crane, the demented dentist who is still trying to convince himself he is not crazy. While this sequel is slow in some spots, Bernsen's over the top shenanigans propel this movie and keep it grossly entertaining. Linda Hoffman is back as Bernsen's silent wife; Clint Howard stops by for a toothache, and Jilliam McWhirter is Corbin's new love interest. The ending is way over the top, but hilarious in its own demented way. I'm sure there'll be no Dentist 3, but Bernsen should be commended for showing that a good actor can take any role and make it something memorable.
