Summary: A Good Scary Time
Review: While the makers of I Know What You Did Last Summer certainly won't be collecting any Academy Awards for their work, they will most definitely be known for creating a solid thriller with plenty of scares.
After a 4th of July bash, four North Carolina teens drive to the local beach for some ghost stories and late-night sex. While driving on the winding road home, the group hits a man. They decide to dump the body into the ocean to avoid legal hassles, and swear to never discuss the incident with anyone ever again.
One year later, their secret comes back to haunt them. Literally. Is it the man they thought was dead, or someone else wanting to settle the score?
Now the four are running for their lives, trying to figure out who the man in the slicker is; before he guts them like a swordfish.
I Know What You Did Last Summer features four of today's hottest stars in their "breakthrough" roles. Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Jennifer Love Hewitt (Heartbreakers), Ryan Phillippe (Cruel Intentions), and Freddie Prinze Jr. (She's All That) work well together, and brought life to the characters created by Scream writer Kevin Williamson.
While it isn't a perfect movie by any stretch of the imagination, I Know What You Did Last Summer is certainly one of the better of the teen horror movies that the late 90's bombarded us with. Even if you're not a horror buff, give it a look, it may surprise you.

Summary: They thought they had been careful......boy were they wrong!
Review: After the great SCREAM came IKWYDLS. A movie that many people thought would be a lousy attempt to equal Scream's excellence. Hey it may not be as great as Scream but its not a bad attempt. Enter a group of gorgeous teens ready to leave school and enjoy life...until that one fateful night when a stranger stmbles across their path..from then on its terror all the way to the bitter end. The cast, story and setting make this movie fun and chilling. It may not make us jump out of our seats with fright but theres not many horror movies these days that can do that.
Jennifer Love Hewitt plays Julie James - the killers main target it seems. Love gives Julie that innocent yet solid and strong character which we all sympathise with in these type of horror movies. Will she make it to the end?
Then we have Freddie Prinze Jr - the boyfriend of Julie who has the looks and guy next door exterior. Does he strange exterior mean killer or will he save the day?
Then the beauty queen herself - Sarah Michelle Gellar as Helen Shivers. A beautiful and popular addition to the gang who gets more of her fair share of scares, will she get scared one too many times?
Then the hunk - Ryan Phillepe as Barry. Barry is extremely popular and strong willed. He's very macho and protective but will he protect himself from the hook?

Summary: A classic horror movie!
Review: I absolutely adore this movie! It's very chilling, exciting, well-written, and very well-acted. John Debney's musical score is great! Sarah Michelle Gellar finally proved her talent as an actress in this film, as did the rest of the young stars (Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Philippe, and Freddie Prinze Jr.)! If you're a horror movie buff, then you'll LOVE this movie!

Summary: Sarah Michelle Geller Should Have Been Cast In The Lead
Review: The movie was the only slasher flick to come out after "Scream" besides the sequels to "Scream" that was any good. The fisherman is creepy looking. My only problem is that for a horror flick the body count is too low. And to tell the truth the film really has no suspense. The filmakers trick us into beliving that Sarah Michelle Geller would pull a "Buffy" and make it through this movie to see a sequel, her final scene is probably the longest chase scene for a character in a horror flick that does not live. Usually when there is a prolonged chase scene in a horror flick it's towards the end of the movie and the person being chased ends up surviving. But the only survivors here are Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt who live to star in this films horrible sequel "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer." A film that wasn't scribed by this movie's scribe Kevin Williamson.

Summary: Is this better than scream? Yup
Review: this film is really really great. Okay, it might not be the next Silence of the Lambs, but it was never supposed to be. You have to see it for what it is, a great way of spending an evening/afternoon curled up on the sofa with your girl/boyfriend, watching a great fun film. Which is undoubtedly what this film is. It is great, great fun. (sorry, i'll stop re-using that tired old adjective now). The plot is intriguing, and also fun. It's your typical teen movie, so probably not for the older purveyors of conematic quality. It's not really a classic in the "Star Wars" type way, and wont go down in history as a great film, but it is certainly one of the most enjoyable pictures i've seen in many a while. You are guranteed some superb fun as you try to work out whodunnit, and who'll be the next victim of that hook. It's a melodramatic film, but very suspenseful and spooky. The killer, clad fisherman's slickers, is haunting, taking on a supernatural like quality, and bringing elements of that supernaturality to the film. Whenever you see his spooky attire gliding along, you know someone's going to get done in, but who?
the plot is, if not original, certainly enjoyable. I have always loved films in this style with a passion, ever since reading Agatha Christie's And then there Were None. They are above all much fun, and a nice way to wile away the time. The four young actors each play their parts very well, especially the sublime Jennifer Love Hewitt. The directors give us plenty of enjoyable and tantaslising shots of clevage, most of which will remain with me for several days at least. I would watch it all again just to get another nice view. This is actually quite a scary film, even thought its teen slasher label deems it, by deafuat, to be not. It is atmospheric, and has the wonderful juxtaposition of the little village village being the backdrop for vicious murders. The settings are perfect, as are the characters and plot. i cant think of much else to say about this film, i was never very good at critiqueing them. All i can say is that i loved it, my girlfriend loved it, my friends loved it. So, if you too are a teen, you probably will too. so, if you want to watch a movie that is brilliant fun, and suspenseful, atmospheric and spooky too, this one is for you.

Review: This is your basic slasher movie and its all been done before and will doubtless all be done again
Kevin Williamson'script is ,as ever with this guy,self-conscious and arch, parding its cleverness and pandering to its audience's familiarity with genre cliches.Its clever and witty but too full of itself to appeal to one who likes his horror straight faced.
When 4 teens (2 male and 2 female)are involved in a hit and run on graduation day they deposit the body in the ocean and vow to forget about it
Fat chance lads and lassies for in the moralistic world of the slasher pic there is a price to be paid and the body count piles up briskly
The cast of TV names are attractive and competent although none will I suggest ever be major names in cinema as they seem too bland and homogenised in personality to build long careers on the big screen ,these being built as much by charisma and personlity as by looks or talent
Younger viewers will probably like it more than more elderly audiences and it seems tailored more for a younger crowd who are lost without Passble time filler but it ned s a bit more heart as opposed to gore
The odd glimpses of imagination eg a killing behind a stack of tires just a few feet away from an Independence Day parade help maintain interes at a fitful level

Review: i saw this movie few weeks ago and i loved it! its very suspensful and im so glad it didnt have nudity like friday the 13th.i havnt seen the second one but i will. its very gory and a great thriller i recomond this movie to any one who is a fan of suspense.i love this movie! this movie is rated R for strong language,adult situations,and graphic violence

Review: Produced in the wake of "Scream" (1996) and written by that film's acclaimed scriptwriter Kevin Williamson from a Young Adult novel by Lois Duncan, "I Know What You Did Last Summer" (1997) is a solid contribution to the updated, multiplex-friendly teen-slasher cycle. Following a drunken revelry at their graduation party, four teens (Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Phillippe, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar) accidentally run down and kill a man and, fearing the possible consequences of a manslaughter charge on their respective careers, they dump his body into the sea. One year later, someone who apparently witnessed their crime begins to hunt them down, disguised behind a fisherman's slicker and wielding a massive steel hook... Though rife with implausibilities, this remarkably straight-faced shocker benefits enormously from a strong narrative, gorgeous location work in the picturesque fishing village of Stockport, North Carolina, and an ultra-beautiful quartet of hot young actors with talent to spare. Their impossible good looks may simply be a nod to cinematic convention, but Williamson's script dares to explore the flaws in their characters as they're torn apart by guilt and fear - Phillippe in particular comes across as a wealthy, unpleasant bully even before the accident occurs, and his temperament simply crumples further under duress. But the gulf between talent and experience is deftly illustrated by co-star Anne Heche, who almost steals the movie with a cameo appearance as the dead man's haunted sister, living in decayed isolation in a crumbling old house in the woods. The four young principals give terrific performances, but they're no match for Heche's subtlety and precision. Jim Gillespie's debut feature rises above its modest ambitions by virtue of its handsome production values and relentless forward momentum, and the film's production history is recounted in some detail during a comprehensive DVD audio commentary by Gillespie and editor Steve Mirkovich. They provide a fascinating insight into the workings of a mid-budget horror movie, describing not only the technical requirements, but also the day-to-day process of compromise and innovation which gave rise to the final product. Oddly enough, no one mentions the film's triumphant use of the scope format: Denis Crossan's luminous Panavision photography takes full advantage of the stunning locations and makes few concessions to television, placing characters at either end of the screen and underlining the film's emotional content with a number of extraordinary visual 'stings' (such as Gellar's final scene, which concludes with an aerial shot that is both heartbreaking and deeply ironic, completely lost in the 4:3 pan-scan version). Creepy, sexy, fast-moving and genuinely thrilling in places, this glossy Hollywood shock-machine may not be terribly original, but it looks good, it doesn't play down to the audience, and it features a couple of jump-through-the-roof shocks which are absolutely NOT for the faint-hearted!! As usual, Columbia Tristar's region 1 DVD provides a 4:3 pan-scan version along with a 2.35:1 anamorphic print derived from a high-definition transfer. Both are eye-poppingly vivid! Similarly, the 5.1 soundtrack is a constant delight, with shameless use of deep-bass effects to augment some of the wilder set-pieces. English captions are also provided, along with a letterboxed (1.85:1) trailer, and the film itself runs 100m 43s.

Summary: Great Horror Flick
Review: Many people accuse I Know What You Did Last Summer as being a Scream. While there are similarties between the two, I Know is its own movie. In fact, IKWYDLS was in the works before Scream ever came out. After hitting a stranger with their car, four frantic teens decide to cover it up instead of risking having to deal with the possible consequences. A year later they begin getting terrifying notes and soon, they're being stalked and attacked by a masked figure with a fishook. They realize that someone knows their horrible secret and revenge is being executed. The setting of this film takes place in Southport, North Carolina which is a small quiet fishing village. No one residing their suspects the terror that lurks in the shadows. Even when told by one of the characters on the run, the deputy police cheif refuses to believe that anything this terrible could be happening. I Know What You Did Last Summer has some wondeful scenes. The most noticeable one perhaps is when Helen, played wondefully by Sarah Michelle Gellar, is chased through a department store and into the allies surrounding it. The acting is terrific. The one that sticks out the most of course is Sarah Michelle Gellar who also plays Buffy on the hit TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Sarah's character in this is a complete 180 from her role on the television show. Fans will get a kick out of seeing 'Buffy' being chased and stalked by a madman killer who seems to get the upper hand. Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Phillippe, and Freddie Prinze Jr. are also very skillful with their parts. I Know is a terrific, terrifying flick that will surely get your adrealine pumping.

Summary: A second viewing helped
Review: I was extremely disappointed when I first saw this movie. I just could not figure it out. One of my friends explained it to me, & that helped a little. Then I rented it on video and began to see things that revealed a little more.
Four teens hit run over a man and toss his body over the pier. A year later, someone starts sending them letters that say "I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER!". Apparently someone saw them. But who was it?
Better than the book it is based on--and totally different. What do you expect though? Even has the typical horror movie ending.
