Summary: Saturday Night Fever Meets I Know What You Did Last Summer
Review: This was an ok movie with a ''I Know What You Did Last Summer'' plot.Theres a scene that resembles ''Scream'' and that is when the students get scary phone calls. The Prom scene looked alot like the nightclub from ''Saturday Night Fever'' and not to mention the dance between Jamie Lee Curtis and her date was ripped off from the movie See this

Review: It's alright. Not as good as Halloween though. After a few kids accidentally cause the death of a little girl (tease her out of a second floor window), they vow to never speak a word of what they did and pretend it never happened. Years later the kids are now teens, preparing themselves for the big night. The dead girl's sister Kim (Curtis) is dating one of her late sister's killer's Nick (Stevens) without knowing anything about his past, but someone knows, someone was there and saw the whole thing and he/she thinks it's time for justice. He/she makes obscene phone calls, sends them scary notes and on Prom Night he/she takes out the axe and decides to get some work done. Gore? Very little. The scene when the little girl falls out the window is pretty disturbing, an offscreen slit throat but the hilarious beheading scene. All in all it's pretty cheesy, but there are alot worse out there.

Summary: FOR PRETEENS ONLY
Review: A disappointment indeed. This movie is to much like scream and all the other late 90's teenybooper films. Its about Prom Night the lamest night of them all. It does however have Jamie Lee Curtis in it and she is a terrific actress, but Leslie Nielsen should to stick to Naked Gun movies he was pretty bad in this film. Lastly this movie wouldn't even scare three girlfriends at a sleepover, its not scary just comical that they made a film that was on prom that was actually gonna be scary but instead failed miserably.

Summary: GO LAURIE STRODE....OOPSS I MEAN KIM HAMMOND
Review: FIRST OF ALL JAMIE LEE CURTIS RULES....ROCK ON GIRLFRIEND...
As for Prom Night I have to say it was one heck of a slasher film. Although I like the Halloween movies better, this one did have it's high lights, and it was real simular to that of Halloween in several ways...As for one of the first ways you'll have to see the movie yourself...And in a second way I found my self seeing a little of Laurie Strode in Kim Hammond, hence in the opening scene of Prom Night where young Kim forgot her Cemestry book, just like the straight A student of the year Laurie Strode forgot one of her school books in Halloween. Even her personality was almost the same..I kept wanting to see Donald Pleseance as Sam Loomis pop up somewhere...But I have to give Leslie Neslson as the principal of the high school and loving father of Kim Hammond some credit,as for some of the other characters the acting wasn't at it's best although they did a pretty good job of dying I'll give them that..But enough about the simularities..This movie was one that kept me guessing of who the killer was, and it was a shock when revealed...The slashing scenes were sometimes dull in some places since they didn't show you much of it but you got the point across,as for others they were quite the gastly gut wrenching scream....But it all starts out when a group of young friends are innocently playing a very disturbing game by the name of "KILLERS" when a some what shy and some what unpopular girl wonders on in, and is savagely killed (accidently of course) by this group of taunting pre-teens...But as most horror movies go "they don't want to go to jail" so they all bail and never speak of what really happened..So six years pass and the pre-teens are now pre- adults as they prepare for one of the high lights of high school their senior prom...But as little do they know...SOMEONE ELSE KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED ( gee why does that sound so familar, could it be I Know What You Did Last Summer)...And is now getting their kicks by taking them out Myers style one by one...So if your a fan of Halloween or just a fan of great slasher films this one is a must..It's worth buying but I always recommend renting them first....

Summary: All Hail Jamie Lee Curtis! Queen of Slasher Movies
Review: I once read somewhere that this movie could be described as a cross between Halloween (1978), Carrie (1976) and Saturday Night Fever (1977) and they would correct about this early entry in the slasher movie cycle. It tells the story of a group of four friends who are stalked by a killer at the prom night of title. The motive for the killer is revenge for the accidental death of a girl six years before in rather macabre version of sardines called 'killers'. The director Paul Lynch, who also directed the video nasty Humongous (1982), manages to generate some suspense. The highpoint of the movie is an extended stalking scene with the axe wielding killer chasing a hapless victim through the darken corridors of the school. The disco aspect of the movie has dated it the worst though especially with the dance scenes between Jamie Lee Curtis and Leslie Neilson being particularly embarrassing. The interior monologues which occur from time to time are amusing as well. The influence of this movie can be seen in the second wave of slasher movie such as I Know What You did Last Summer (1997). Though not as good as either Friday the 13th (1980) or Halloween (1978) it is still a pretty good slasher movie.

Summary: Jamie Lee Curtis's best slasher besides Halloween
Review: Road Games, The Fog, Terror Train, Prom Night, Halloween, Halloween 2...etc. were Jamie Lee's first movies, slashers, and none compared to Prom Night other then Halloween. She was great here, along with the whole cast. The chase scenes with the girl in the sparkly red dress was the most suspenseful, and the last 10 minutes with Miss Curtis were great. There is a limited EDition that has extended scenes.
extended scene 1: the chasing with the girl in the sparkly red dress is longer...2-The dance scene with Curtis is longer + more
This is the movie to see with a friend or alone at night, I honestly thought the Janitor or the principal would be the killer, or maybe that jealous girl who's always telling Curtis to watch out...who was it? Maybe one of my choices, maybe not, see the movie, there are countless choices to who can be the killer. That's what makes it so fun. I thought it was gonna be the girl that they supposedly killed, maybe she wasn't dead? SEE IT and find out who did it! It's Agood FLICK.

Summary: Not your best slasher, far from your worst
Review: Jamie Lee Curtis followed up 1979's The Fog with 2 slashers: Terror Train, and Prom Night. Sure, she's long in the tooth to be playing a high school senior, but she was a dependable horror heroine.

Prom Night is pretty typical slasher fare. Nothing fancy. Years ago a group of youngsters accidentally caused the death of young girl during a cruel game of hide-and-go-seek. They swear forever to keep it a secret.

Years later, while all the attractive fems are perky high school seniors, someone starts making the phone calls. I have to admit, the whole sequence is a bit funny. Scene after scene of just the killer's mouth and chin rasping into the phone and asking if the girls like to play games, etc. Then he scratches names off a pad. A bit funny. Maybe we've just seen it parodied too much.

Anyway, there's little real suspense. A creepy stalk scene in the girls bathroom. Big red blinking red herrings thrown in shamelessly. There is a good chase sequence through creepy, dark school hallways. It leads to a payoff kill. Speaking of bloody murder, this isn't top of the list for gore, either. We get stabbings, some throat cutting. But the best effect is a single murder, and that's the disco-floor decapitation of an unlikable knucklehead senior.

Speaking of disco, you'll either be thrilled or horrified by how much this film has dated. We're talking a serious disco ball prom night here. You've been warned.

Jamie Lee is perfectly fine here. Leslie Nielson, yes, Leslie Nielson, plays a serious role as the school principal here. He's not bad, but you just keep expecting him to say, "And don't call me Shirley."

You could do far worse than Prom Night on a boring evening. If you're a genre fan like me, you'll like it, and you'll have to see it. Not the best, but adequate.

Summary: Prom Night DVD
Review: A group of children are playing a game of hide and go seek in an abandoned school; the seeker being called "The Killer". During the horseplay, a little girl is shoved through a window and falls to her death. The children swear to each other to never tell of the incident. However, somebody saw this happen. The question is "Who?". Years later, as the teens are preparing for the high school prom, those particular teens get obscene phone calls from somebody, asking them "can you come out tonight to play?". Then they find mangled yearbook photos of themselves in their lockers, with a sliver or broken mirror attached to the photos. Later that night, the killer gets his revenge on the young victim who died several years ago, disposing of the teenagers one by one until the final climatic attack on the last survivor on the pulsating disco dance floor. The killer is then revealed and the culprit may or may not be who you expect it to be...depending on how predictable you find this film. This film ends most different than most horror movies...some horror movies will leave you shocked or prepared for another upcoming sequel (which this one does also, surprisingly, but has nothing to do with the characters in the original film), but this film has a very sad ending, feeling the killer has ample reason to seek revenge on these teens.

Jamie Lee Curtis stars as the lovely Kim in this movie (the older sister of Robin, a couple years later after starring in the fantastic Halloween, and Leslie Nielson plays as her father, the high school principal, in a shockingly serious and well-played role. The rest of the actors/actresses are lesser well known, and to a point with most of them, their acting is basically amateurish. This film also includes a pulsating disco score, which has unfortunately never been available, but the songs resemble popular disco songs at the time (aka "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor, "Macho Man" by Village People, and even a hyped up version of "Dancin In The Moonlight" by King Harvest).

My only irks about this movie is the story DOES lag at some times, especially the chase between the killer and Wendy. The film quality is a major thing to complain about, it's like it's not very colorful, but very "bright" if you know what I mean. Pale being a better word. And also, there are zero features on this film, no extras or nothing, so that's disappointing. Hopefully Anchor Bay will re-release a remastered version of this movie in the future with extras, out takes and deleted scenes, as this is a Jamie Lee Curtis fan favorite, alongside her starring roles in the Halloween series.

Summary: A parody of itself- what a bad movie!
Review: I rented this movie because, like everyone else has said, Halloween wasn't bad and I was in the mood for a horror film. Not only was this more gory, it also had very little plot, lackluster characters, annoying disco music (they spend almost 10 minutes on a disco dance scene that should never have been put into the final cut), and TERRIBLE acting. The characters are very fake and even if the movie would have been entertaining just to see people die the death scenes are not even that creative. The script is terrible and the events seem very random. Don't waste your time watching this [junk] go do something fun and pluck your eyebrows instead.
