Summary: Very fun to watch
Review: Everyone calls it a modern version of Halloween. It has way more action, kills and stalking. Okay, i'm not gonna talk [bad] about Halloween or any of the sequels, but my point is that Prom Night's pace is a little better...The movie is so dark, some parts, you can't see anything but a moving object in the dark, but that makes it scary. I like how they made Jamie Lee Curtis the most popular girl in school, the girls hate on her, but she always has a comeback, and to one guy who hits on her, she replies, "Go sit on it, ape" Pretty cheesy, but funny. The explosion scene was good. I like the scenes where Jamie Lee is trying to prevent her boyfriend from getting killed, so she throws chairs at the kiler and jumps on his back, even pulls the ax out of his hand and throws it. She was great. I like how Curtis and her promdate were so close and in that scene with the flashbacks and he tells her he remembers it, very teary...Anyway, this movie gots laughs, suspense and some modest dancing sequences, gore (a decapitated head) and fluffy comedy (girl jokes)...Another great thing about it is that it's one of those "Who did it?" movies, there are about 15 suspects, it can be anyone, when the killer gets unmasked, i was in suspense as she rolled it off, who was it? Go rent it. It is hard to find for sale. Amazon.com has it on DVD. I got a good condition, pre-viewed restored edition at a video store. See it now!

Summary: THE DIFINITIVE MASTERPIECE OF SLASHER FILMS!
Review: In 1974, four children, all about age 11 or 12, are playing--in an abandoned schoolhouse--hide-and-seek. When a ponytailed ten-year-old girl named Robin intrudes on these four children on her way home from school, she is backed up to a window ledge and falls through the pane, plummeting to her death two stories below. As the four other children gaze at the girl's corpse covered with broken glass, they realize no one will believe it is an accident and make a pact to keep the incident a secret. Which is a deadly mistake, as we shall see, for someone else has witnessed little Robin's death and wants revenge....Fast forward six years to 1980. Now the four children are seniors in high school and it's prom night--but much worse, it's also the anniversary of Robin's death. Robin's older sister Kim (Jamie Lee Curtis) is friends with two of the foursome--timorous Kelly and jolly Jude--and another of the four, Nick, is Kim's boyfriend. The last of the four--Wendy--is jealous of Kim because Kim stole Nick away from her. That morning, the foursome recieve ominous phone calls from a shadowy figure with a thin, slimy, whispery voice; later in the day they discover their yearbook photos taped to their locker doors with daggerlike shards of broken glass--echoes of the broken glass that had cloaked little Robin's cadaver. The incidents are dismissed as pranks as the group prepares for the prom. As darkness falls they arrive at the prom and dance to the synthesized rhythms of disco music. The movie is worth watching for the disco score alone--it boasts some of the best disco ever created, composed by Paul Zaza, with a pulsating 4/4 beat, sensuous mock-symphonic orchestration that has glorious violin riffs and flourishes. It's a pity that there's no available soundtrack, as I've searched extensively for one. And then there's that wonderfully choreographed SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER-like dance between KIm and Nick, the two of them twirling and gyrating to the disco beat. Then the killing begins. Kelly, a wan young lass, is snuffed out with a shard of broken glass (again echoes of the shattered glass blanketing little Robin's corpse) in the girl's locker room after reneging on her promise to give up her virginity to her boyfriend.
Jolly party-girl Jude inadventently exposes her neck to the killer while rollicking with her date in back of a van parked outside the school. Wendy, looking more like a seasoned prostitute than a junior miss in her plungy red gown with the tight sequined bodice, is stalked from restroom to parking garage, from parking garage to science lab, from science lab to storage room where she is safe... ....until Kelly's bloody body dangles down from a shelf, causing her to scream--whereupon she is discovered and felled with an axe. The chase scene with Wendy fleeing through the labryrinth of darkened school corridors is the ONLY horror flick scene that has truly scared me. Then the killer goes after Nick, who struggles with him on the disco floor now empty of terrified dancers. The strobe-lit, disco-scored axe-fight is tense, and finally Kim grabs the hatchet and stuns the masked maniac, who flees outside before crumbling to the sidewalk. PROM NIGHT is perhaps the best slasher movie ever made--this from a movie buff who's seen them all. It's far superior to the mediocre FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH, which was released that same year. PROM NIGHT has it all: a fast-moving plot, mystery, a magnificent disco score, macabre killings, and characters you actually care about. If you don't want to be scared, then don't see this movie.

Summary: Not The Worst Movie I've Ever Seen But Close To It!
Review: After seeing the movie Halloween also starring Jamie Lee Curtis I naturally thought I would like Prom Night but I was really disappointed with this movie and think we wasted money going to see it and wonder why Jamie Lee Curtis and Leslie Nielsen even agreed to be in this movie. I will rate this 2 stars because I have seen worse movies but it's pretty bad. Just my opinion.

Summary: Entertaining!
Review: I really enjoyed this movie and now own it. Although it is dated (you can tell by the clothes, dancing, etc.), it keeps you guessing the whole way through. Little Robin Hammond accidentally gets killed when the neighborhood kids were taunting her. Now, six years later, on the anniversary of Robin's death, a killer is on the loose at the prom. It begins with chilling phone calls, and then leads to a bloody rampage. I especially liked Wendy (who was formerly Eddie Benton, but is now Anne-Marie Martin). Although her character was a mean snob, she was beautiful. The scene of her going to the prom with Lou was comical, because normally she would never be caught dead with someone like him. Her boyfriend had dumped her, and was now dating Kim Hammond (Jamie Lee Curtis). Wendy goes to the prom with Lou and tries to think of ways to hurt Kim and get her boyfriend back. The ending was a bit shocking, as you would never guess who was guilty of all this.

Review: When I first looked up Prom Night, everyone seemed to think that it was not a good movie. Then I bought it, and I realized that these people were wrong. There was nothing wrong with the movie. The storyline was similar to I Know What You Did Last Summer, but it was still original. Four children play some game that ends in the accidental death of a girl. Like I Know What You Did Last Summer, they make a desperate attempt to cover up the crime. The four of them make a pact, and they leave the body for the police to discover it. Seven years later, the four have forgotten the whole thing. That's when they began to get the creepy phone calls and death threats. When Prom Night arrives, the terror begins. Soon, sex and murder wil take place. The four will realize that someone grew up waiting to get their revenge. It kind of surprised me when I saw Leslie Nielsen starring in the movie. He is normally the type that goes out for spoofs and comedies. He crates an outstanding performance in this film. I remember the part where Jamie Lee Curtis dances in something similar to Saturdany Night Fever. Overall, this movie is supenseful as it is gory. I would recommend this to any who wants to see a movie that builds up suspense and spine-tingling horror.

Summary: Prom Night not bad but not for everyone
Review: The only reason i saw this movie in the first place is because i saw jamie lee curtis was in it so i thought it couldnt be that bad because i loved halloween and terror train. I also thought it was funny that leslie nielsen was in it. I saw wrongfully accused not long before that so i though it was funny seeing leslie try to do a serious role. The plot of this movie is about a group of kids who accidentally kill a fellow classmate while playing a game and then make a pact never to tell anyone about it. Years pass and then its time for the kids senior prom. Leslie Nielsen plays the schools principal he is also the murdered girls father. Jamie lee plays the girls sister and Leslie's daughter. While at the prom an on looker of the murder years back is there to seek revenge and one by one murders the victim's killers. Good who done it kind of movie. Mostly recommended just for fans of jamie lee or a good slasher flick.

Summary: It's Not Who You Go With Honey,It's Who Takes You Home!
Review: "Prom Night" is an effective little whodunit that centers around a mysterious killer stalking four high school students during their senior prom as retribution for their part in the death of a young girl six years earlier. Not on the hit list but caught up in all of the murder and mayhem is "Scream Queen" Jamie Lee Curtis as prom queen Kim Hammond. She's every young man's dream date: smart,sexy and tough. Leslie Nielsen is fun in a glorified cameo (although he received top billing) as Curtis's father,principal of the high school which provides much of the film's setting. The supporting cast,which I suspect is made up primarily of Canadians (since the flick was filmed in Toronto),is excellent,especially the gorgeous Eddie Benton (now Anne-Marie Martin,or should I say...Mrs.Michael Crichton) as sexy bad girl Wendy. The film boasts an excellent disco score by Paul Zaza and Carl Zittrer,and an eerie opening flashback sequence involving all of the main characters as children. What separates "Prom Night" from the countless clones of slasher greats "Psycho" and "Halloween" is that you will find yourself actually caring about the characters.

Summary: Prom Night... Everything is NOT alright....
Review: First, after reading certain reviews and a common misconception that needs to be cleared up... PROM NIGHT came out WAY BEFORE 'I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER AND SCREAM'... (circa 1980) so I see a whole lot of borrowed similarities in the latter movies which you can tell are blatant rip offs of PROM NIGHT... Now on with the review... PROM NIGHT is one of those guilty pleasures that you can't seem to be rid of... It's dated, cheesy, not all that scary and it's got tons of dorky disco moves and cheesy, uninspired dialogue.... BUT yet it has a certain charm and atmosphere that just keeps you wanting to watch... THIS MOVIE IS WORTH WATCHING JUST TO SEE JAMIE DOING HER NOTORIOUS DISCO DANCING SCENE WHICH IS HILARIOUS AND OVER THE TOP... Okay, 4 rotten kids are playing a 'killer hide and seek' game in an abandoned building and a curious outsider in the game wants to have a look-see but the game eventually turns on her and the 4 kids scare the crud out of her until she backs up into a window that is 2-stories high and falls to her death... 4 brats get scared, vow NEVER TO TELL and we jump to PROM NIGHT present day... Most of the first hour is your standard thriller setup... 'Unknown' killer makes menacing phone calls to the 4 kids and says, 'It's my night!!!!' or something like that in a high pitched, menacing voice... Oh yeah, the kids were 3 girls and a boy... The whole first hour is not scary so if you are looking for horror the whole 90 minutes than be warned since it doesn't arrive until the last 30 minutes... I'm not going into detail with all the characters (since I hate long winded reviews) but the dead girls sister is going out with the boy from the 4 kids (He lives, oops I told you!!!) and well we have the 3 girls who get their 'medicine' in various hideous fashions and a guy who loses his head (which was meant for the other kid but he lives instead) and the killer who I won't say but this is your typical revenge movie and it is only classified as horror becuz of the nature of the kills... The disco music is above average and very good as it is played during all the kills. Better than TERROR TRAIN by a stretch... I have seen this movie like 7 times and I have no idea why except that it is fun to watch and just a cool 80's movie... Rent it and you might be surprised and like it... It's all about the atmosphere!

Summary: Prom Night
Review: A group of children are playing a disturbing version of hide and seek. When they scare an unwanted player named Robin Hammond so badly that she falls out a window to her death, they vow never to tell anyone they know. But someone already knows... Six years later, the date of Robin's death falls on the date of Prom Night,
the night that Robin's sister Kim (Jamie Lee Curtis) is to be crowned prom queen. As the bodies pile up, it becomes apparent that someone is coming back for revenge on the people who tried to keep their causing Robin's death a secret.
Jamie Lee Curtis is great in this 1980 slasher flick. The supporting cast is good as well. The music in this film is very different. They chose to play disco music for when people are murdered. The original score is very moving and eerie. The only problem I have with this gem is the lighting. I don't know if it was the videotape, or if it was the actual film, but whatever it was, it was horrible. Some scenes were not visible to me at all.
Overall, a great film, with slight lighting problems.
