Rating: Summary: Bloody indeed Review: Effective, but overall predictable, horror film, at the time when bloody killers on the loose was THE horror film to be made. The characters do evoke some sympathy and the murders are pretty gruesome. The ending song is also a very eerie song. Definitely a film to be viewed sometime in your life.
Rating: Summary: FOR THOSE WHO LOVE THE EARLY 80'S HORROR MOVIES Review: STARTS OUT SLOW, IT'S LIKE THE MOVIES (HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME, THE FUNHOUSE, AND HELLNIGHT.) ONCE YOU START WATCHING THROUGH YOU REALLY GET INTO IT AND YOU WANT TO WATCH IT AGAIN. IT'S WORTH BUYING A COPY AND KEEPING IT SEALED AND OF THE OTHER MOVIES BECAUSE VERY HARD TO FIND AND YOU COULD SELL THEM FOR MORE. I DONT KNOW WHAT THAT OTHER PERSON SAID ABOUT IT BEING DULL, IT'S GREAT.
Rating: Summary: Great Slasher Flick Review: This is one of my all-time favorite horror flicks. It is a definite view for anyone who digs good slasher movies. The kills are great with not too much blood, so the emphasis is on suspense and fright. What an A+ movie from the guys up north!
Rating: Summary: Classic Canadian fare Review: Not ment to be gory, this Canadian Film Commission sponsored flick has classic hysteria only found in 80's slasher flicks. The killer is decked in a miner clothes including a gas mask, and cuts out the hearts of his victims for the town's annual Valentine's Day dance. Worth checking out, this film has alot to offer. Not what the gore hound has in mind, but still on the top 10 list of 80's horror films.
Rating: Summary: Good Class B- movie based on a sweet holiday. Review: Decent killings; yet, not to gory. The movie is well overlooked as far as television viewing. Great weekend video for teenagers due to subtle text compared to movies of the nineties.
Rating: Summary: Good 80s slasher film. No, not again, another bloody heart! Review: The movie "My Bloody Valentine" is a solid 80s slasher flick and certainly an adaptation from John Carpenter's Halloween. This movie has been dumped on pretty good, but all in all, this flick does have some merit.
The movie's plot centers around a group of mine workers in a small town. A legend about a pick axe wielding Harry Warden has kept this little town from having a Valentine's Day dance for 20 years, but the town decides it is time to put the past in the past. However, it becomes apparent that someone does not want the dance to take place and he don't mind showing it. His signature is to wrap bloody human hearts in a heart shaped Valentine's Day candy box...not bad! This movie is not without suspense as the killer's identity is somewhat unknown until the end of the movie. However, the audience is able to narrow it down to three people: the mysterious Harry Warden, Axle or the little town's prodigal son who returns to reclaim his ex-girlfriend.
Nevertheless, the local 20 something year old's are determined to have a Valentine's Day party even if they can't have a dance and people start getting killed by a man in a miner's suit. He is exceptionally cruel with some of his killings. This is a typical 80s slasher flick that became prevalent after Halloween, but this might be the best of the "holiday" slasher flicks.
The acting in this film is very poor, but what 80s slasher flick does have good acting? The love story theme in this movie is very lame as well, but the killing scenes are pretty good. While not a classic by any means, I still recommend this film to die-hard horror movie fans like myself. I own this DVD and watch it occasionally. It's really good around Valentine's Day. THREE solid stars for this horror flick...good movie.
Rating: Summary: CANADA Review: this movie rocks because it was filmed down the street from my house in this small little mining town. well all the mines are gone now and the town is pretty washed up and we all moved away. Still the movie shows how this town use to be, growing and growing. besides that the movie sucks ass.
Rating: Summary: Lameness Review: This pretty much sucked. I liked the corpse in the laundry machine though. I thought the little love triangle they were trying to pull between Axel, TJ and Whatsherface was weak. By the way they ended the movie it was obvious that they wanted to do a sequal. Glad that didn't happen, although I would have prefered a sequal to that even lamer 1999 movie Valentine. The acting in this movie is mediocre, not great as some people think. But mediocre is a high standard for an early eighties horror movie. I didn't think this movie was "so 80's", it was more like "so crappy". It was more like a seventies horror flick than anything. P.S. I loved the comment that one of the reviewers made about not wanting to get this movie for Valentine's Day!
Rating: Summary: It was stupid then, and is stupid now Review: This was a terrible attempt to cash in on the early 80's horror craze.I will admit, I enjoy many cheesey horror films, but this film just is not good. Some of the worst acting I have ever seen, a terrible scor, and lame situations.I read there will soon be a sequal after after 23 years! Lame! The film was a huge huge flop in theatres and didn't do well on video either. It does have a small but devoted following who seem to cling to this movie and insist it is some kind of gem.But then, most who claim this state they saw it initially when they were very young, so perhaps it is some kind of time-capsule trip for remembering when they were kids.I think this is a stupid movie and if there is, in fact, a very very delayed sequal coming, it will bomb, as it deserves to.
